No it’s that he constantly rails against the NCAA exploiting them for profit but doesn’t acknowledge the roll ESPN/ABC have played in the boom of college sports turning into golden goose that shits out billions. Why would I hold Jay Bilas, ESPN, or any network, more repsonsible for paying athletes than the institutions they play for?

Responsible for paying the athletes, no. Responsible for playing a roll in the multi billion dollar fees paid to the NCAA for broadcast rights that are chief amongst the reasons that people can say the athletes are being exploited by the schools and NCAA, yes.

The television money is a huge part of this and those that profit from it seem a bit disingenuous singling out the NCAA for exploiting the athletes while ignoring the broadcast side of the issue.

Maybe Jay has campaigned for the networks to play tough with the NCAA and conferences and only offer bids of a dollar for the rights, though.
