Mindy McCready committed suicide at 37 …
Drew Pinsky killed another celebrity. Shouldn’t this guy be in jail by now?

I would presume this is about Souvenir City taking an instagram photo of every fucking piece of banal food he eats in Chicago?

Wow.

Michael Jordan turned 50? Who knew? Is this something we’re going to start celebrating with celebrities, or just folks who are celebs AND miserable human beings?
February 18th, 2013 at 8:25 AM
Finally, you get it right.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:27 AM
Just read part of the McCready article…she shot her dog too??? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:27 AM
Damn. That police car crash video was ridiculous. How fast was that car going? Totally wipes the police car off screen.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:29 AM
Also horrific, HORRIFIC, basketball executives.
Pau Gasol, Richard Jefferson, Tyson Chandler, Joe Johnson, Zack Randolph, Gerald Wallace, Tony Parker, Mehmet Okur, fuck em, BRING ME KWAME BROWN!
February 18th, 2013 at 8:29 AM
What a bitch. Thankfully her children were taken away from her. You can only imagine what would have happened to them.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:30 AM
Outside of Charlotte/Wash fan, does anyone actually care that Jordan is an awful executive? Does anyone think less of him and what he meant to the NBA?
February 18th, 2013 at 8:31 AM
1) Nobody in Charlotte cares because that would imply paying attention to the Bobcats
2) No, it doesn’t matter, it’s just hilarious how horribly the 2011 draft worked out for them given the insane amount of talent that ended up being produced from it
February 18th, 2013 at 8:31 AM

Kevin Hart is the only comedian to have played CONSOL if I remember correctly.

New Years always makes me sad because I have wait until Memorial Day for my first day off (on a weekday) of the year.

Good job Mindy. Now if we can just get the rest of the country “music” “stars” to follow suit the world will be as god intended.

Isaiah Thomas was an equally inept executive, but, unlike Jordan, his legacy as a player seems to have suffered because if it.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:39 AM
New Years always makes me sad because I have wait until Memorial Day for my first day off (on a weekday) of the year.
i had fucking MLK day off. no racist joke or anything intended. i just don’t get why we have NYD off and then get another day off 20 days later. then we don’t get another one until memorial day.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
I would imagine it being the Knicks has more to do with that than anything though.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
Because The One
February 18th, 2013 at 8:43 AM
New Years, MLK, Presidents Day, Good Friday.
Throw in that I take a majority of my vacation days during the winter, and I do very little actual work this time of year.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:45 AM
Roger Clemens really fucked this girl up huh? That shit about her killing her dog first is really messed up.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:45 AM
Other than one of the banks I do business with, and the post office everyone’s working around here today. Hell, my kids have school
February 18th, 2013 at 8:47 AM
LOL at labeling Okur, Jefferson, Wallace and Johnson “insane talents.” Not excusing MJ as GM, but the 2001 draft was dreadful.
February 18th, 2013 at 8:48 AM

There are no days off for a Senyor Madre
February 18th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
I only know a few people who have off today. My old job I only had 3 paid holidays annually, Christmas, NYD, and Thanksgiving. Granted I had something like 30 vacation/choice days to use each year, so that more than made up for it.
New job I have NYD, Christmas, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Good Friday, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Memorial Day, plus close shop early NYE and Christmas Eve. It only kind of makes up for having just 6 vacation/choice days the first year, and 15 annually after my year anniversary.

Squawk we’re gonna need more detail on that GSU game
uga’s pitching looks weak.
I wasn’t able to start watching until the 5th and it was already 7 – 1 at that point and georgia was on their 5th pitcher.
Came close to a sweep with a Friday win – but Southern blew two bases-loaded chances late.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
The media utterly blowing the story about the Congressman’s daughter is incredible. What a shitty press we have.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Really need a post on Ryan Evans’ put back dunk yesterday. A wisconsin player dunked, it deserves it’s own post! It was even with authority
February 18th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
The Chicago chef story is fantastic.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
Kevin Hart is hilarious.
it did. 15 YEARS AGO!!!
February 18th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
At work today. Didn’t have MLK off, either. So it was NYD and then nothing until Memorial Day. Ughhhhhhhhh its so much worse when you actually type it out.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
Why would you want one of the funniest people on earth to sing country music?
Kevin Hart on SNL is gonna own.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
JaRon Rush was a legend in Kansas City, and played two years at UCLA. His son is now 15, and an emerging hoops talent.
No. The gist of the article is that he is nowhere near the talent of his father and uncles. He plays at freaking Barstow.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
Had New Years Day and MLK off, working today. Next break is Memorial Day

It’s shocking that people think any movie opened from mid-JAN to May can be any good. Maybe 1-2 from that whole time.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
Saw this morning that McCready’s boyfriend/fiance recenlty killed himself or was murdered. Her two kids are in foster care, the father of the oldest kid was on Today show saying he is trying to get him back. She killed herself and dog on the front porch of her house.

H/t squawk.
There was a time college baseball meant a lot more to me. Its the american pastime and where are the fans and huge tv deals!?
February 18th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
I saw where GI Joe 2 was pushed back to Mar 29th. My first thought was, “yup…it’s going to suck as expected.”
February 18th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
Chicago peeps, I will be in Chicago on Feb. 28th. Flying in early AM to Midway, going to Evanston for day ending in Ohio State-Northwestern game. Already have flights booked but need hotel and transport. Where should I look for hotel between those two locations, and do I get rental car, cab, or do public transport? Don’t mind the latter, will just have one side bag to hold a pair of sweats for flight back next morning, and my laptop.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
Is it bad that I had to google who Kevin Hart is?
/Must be getting old
February 18th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
I finally saw Skyfall last night and loved it. Bardem killed it as the villain.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
The goal each year is to not burn any VAC until at least 4/1. I used to be able to roll 1-2 days a year and would do a FEB weekend in FL but since that is no longer an option, you just gut it out til the 2nd quarter.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
So in the south they only care about one sport that exists for four months a year and is played by kids but then get assy when people say they’re a shitty sports fan region…that about sum it up?
February 18th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
Agree completely. Get through March without any time off and the year flows so much better in my opinion. I have 20 days off a year between VAC, PTO and Sick, but we also get all of the major holidays off including the entire week of Christmas off which does not count towards our VAC. It’s somewhat absurd.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
Is it bad that I had to google who Kevin Hart is?
Kevin Hart was the guy in 40 Year Old Virgin who came into the Circuit City and demanded the extended warranty for the price of “on the house”.
I cannot recall him in anything else noteworthy but apprarently he riles people up here.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:18 AM

I have no clue who he is.
I saw where GI Joe 2 was pushed back to Mar 29th.
They redid a bunch of that movie after C-Tates became an A list star over the past year. He was killed off early in the movie in the first draft of GI 2. So, yeah, sounds like a train wreck.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
White people don’t like black comedian, shocking video at eleven.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
Oh I’m sure people down here love college baseball. That was more of me saying that, not speaking for the region. Hell, at this point college baseball is all Ga Tech has (assuming they’re still good).

Side Effects was solid.
This is a good game, though. Trying to think of some recent tolerable movies that hit before April.
The Raid
Shutter Island
The Ghost Writer
How to Train Your Dragon

I get 20 days and then 10 sick days and then the bank holidays (today is paid work). The best thing is my job week goes SAT-to-FRI, so I can come in an do a coverage shift on SAT or SUN once a month, and take the following FRI off, for a 3-day weekend.

February 18th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
There was a time college baseball meant a lot more to me. Its the american pastime and where are the fans and huge tv deals!?
I don’t really care about other fans and TV deals. I watch baseball with my kid while doing other stuff -basically background noise. We’re lucky since we follow GA Southern, they stream most of their home games.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
To be fair, Kevin Hart and Katt Williams do suck.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
except that you kow, Georgia is usually pretty good at baseball and has been to the CWS three times in the past 10 years.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Where should I look for hotel between those two locations, and do I get rental car, cab, or do public transport?
Your questions are meaningless, because after reading this:
to Evanston for day ending in Ohio State-Northwestern game.
You will kill yourself. What a horrible game that will be.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Dude’s bank account has to be exploding at this point. I gotta say I was shocked at how not terrible Fast 5 was. I also get the feeling the Rock is good people. Just comes off like a cool dude every time he speaks.
Wow. I did not know that. The first one was perhaps the worst movie I’d ever seen, so the 2nd has a lot to live up to.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
What? White people love Wayne Brady.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
I finally saw Flight. Well done. Great opening scene with the smoking hot flight attendant. Denzel was great, John Goodman was good too in his scenes.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
Pistorius had steroids in his home.
whoops. the SAF police isnt doing that bad from what it sounds like. they got his blood right away to be able to legitimize against some weak roid rage defense. hit her with a cricket bat in the head and shot her in the hip, then shot her through a door. this guy sounds like a gem.

February 18th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
I know Kevin Hart and find him funny but I’m looking at his filmography and honestly think I have seen two things – The Five Year Engagement, and the episode of Party Down where he plays the rapper that Ken Marino is pitching Soup’r'Crackers to.
Turned off 40 Year Old Virgin twenty minutes in.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
I watched it instead of the all star game last night also. Liked it.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
I was listening to some sports radio in ATL this morning and they were running down all of these new allegations. Sounds fucking awful. He bashed her head in (allegedly) yet tried to resuscitate her after shooting her 4 times? Damn.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
It’s also being converted to 3D, largely as a cover to insert more Charming Potato.
Fast Five is an absolutely terrible movie that intelligent people can enjoy ironically.

February 18th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Wow. I did not know that. The first one was perhaps the worst movie I’d ever seen, so the 2nd has a lot to live up to
The only good thing in that movie was Sienna Miller as the Baroness.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
the only thing Katt Williams and Kevin Hart have in common is they’re both short.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:26 AM

February 18th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
It was fine for the first half hour, mediocre in the middle, and flat-out embarrassingly awful during the final five minutes.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
saw Skyfall, Lincoln, Django and Les Miz the week after Christmas, Skyfall was by far the best out of all three. best well made from start to finish, no issues or problems.
on episode 11 of House of Cards. Good stuff, really like what Netflix did with this.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
She was so hot in that movie.
I went into it assuming it was going to be laugh-oud-loud awful, which is why I enjoyed it more than I was expecting.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
No I’m not. Steve Carrell is not funny. The supporting cast in that movie was great, I loved Paul Rudd’s Michael McDonald speech, but goddamn I cannot fucking stand Carrell.
Also it is incredible that the first GI Joe movie didn’t kill JGL’s career.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
I wouldn’t know. I really couldn’t understand him.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Didnt watch The All-Star game. Walking Dead was on.
/better tv
February 18th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
they had a great chance to make a really great movie with the hotel scene before the deposition, but they decided to go with dark, almost absurd comedy instead of a dramatic, well thought out and non predictable ending.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Circumstances surrounding that shootout made no sense.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Seriously, do black people even like Tyler Perry?
I work with a bunch of middle aged to older white women. They love him.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
People barely knew he was even in it. He was wise to make sure his face wasn’t recognizable.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
It’s about winning, bro.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
I don’t really care about other fans and TV deals.
the comment was more about the chasm between how popular MLB is yet HS and college struggle for attendance/interest outside of friends and relatives
February 18th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
Let’s change the question then. Do people not suffering from white guilt like Tyler Perry?
February 18th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
Carrell and will Farrell are two guys who greatly benefited from outstanding supporting casts in their breakout roles, but can’t carry a comedy without that cast for the life of them.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
I thought they made a great movie, actually. It was very well done.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
“and flat-out embarrassingly awful during the final five minutes.”
Not to give away the ending but I wouldnt call it embarrassingly awful
February 18th, 2013 at 9:31 AM

85% of Carrell’s career is based on stealing Ferrell’s “voice modulation disorder” character from SNL, too.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
He’s barely in it.
on episode 11 of House of Cards. Good stuff, really like what Netflix did with this.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
i will now go watch layer cake tonight
February 18th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
Honest to God I thought that the GJ Joe trailer I kept seeing was for a third movie, just figured that one actually did come out last year and I just ignored it and this was another sequel. Holy crap.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
One Elite Eight in 11 seasons, right? Though they do have a few B10 conference titles, so I guess that’s what you were referring to.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
I suppose if Dane Cook can find an audience then anyone can.
Loved 40YOV. Movie that launched a thousand careers.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
meant flight, not skyfall. quote fail.
anyway, the crash was superbly acted and directed.
however, aside from back to the future, it became really predictable after the halfway point like all other Zemeckis films.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Yeah I know but going from even being in that in one year to the next being in Inception and being the biggest young star is an incredible leap.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I’m at work today, but I’m not working, if you catch my drift.
Legend. RIP
February 18th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I wasn’t sure about the hotel part but honestly that summation fits for Skyfall too if you’re referring to M’s testimony before the tribunal as the deposition.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
Talent wins out, though. He’s a damn good actor and he most likely learned from his terrible role choice to be a bit more selective.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I know of at least one who can’t stand him. Actually 2 when you include Spike Lee.
I guess that’s the equivalent of me knowing Black people who think Seinfeld and Friends were funny.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:37 AM
Can we meet at “cloying and unrealistic?”
February 18th, 2013 at 9:37 AM
Though they do have a few B10 conference titles, so I guess that’s what you were referring to.
Nothing wrong with conference titles. The Tourney is such a crapshoot.

February 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Also, I simply can’t read that Lanza piece. I’m sure it’s great, but that dude an that tragedy is just too fucked up for me to read about.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Oh man he was in Miracle at St Anna that year too. Woof.
Havoc was pretty baller though.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
the absurdity of some of the second half plot points are really just saved by the tremendous acting, especially from the guy who plays Peter Russo.
I do love the solid character driven storylines, though.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Had JGL had to carry that film like Taylor Kistch or something, yeah, his career would have suffered. Helped that he had Inception about in the can and used that relationship with Nolan to land TDKR.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
I bet you DeanCain thanks his lucky stars every nite he got out of that deal when he did
February 18th, 2013 at 9:40 AM
The movie’s main moment involved a pilot flying a commercial plane upside down, no? Pretty sure we’ve ruled out realism by the final 5 minutes.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:40 AM
Does Esquire have an “Oral History of the Newtown Massacre” or something yet?
February 18th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Sure. The hotel scene was a bit much, they made it look like an entire rock band trashed the rooms. I remember thinking, Damn, really. Crash scene was very well done.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Watched the Kevin Hart video, not much made me laugh, but the Kenny Smith “your lips will bleed if you smile too fast” one got me.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
that’s true.
although, there’s nothing like the world of james bond where such public events, like the courtroom shootout, train crash, etc are not only totally within reason, but accepted norms of society.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:42 AM
Russo was easily the best, most well-drawn character on the show. Really enjoyed the episodes where he was center stage.
Started watching Magic City last night. Decent so far. Nothing special about it yet, though, except the production design.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:42 AM
Dean’s too busy being in terrible reality shows while trying to become the conservative voice for Hollywood.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:42 AM
The movie was pretty shitty, but JGL did well (as always).
February 18th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
She’s built for lite housekeeping
February 18th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
Huh he had an uncredited cameo in The Brothers Bloom, too.
Which is the best Wes Anderson movie since Life Aquatic even though he had nothing to do with it.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
Seriously, do black people even like Tyler Perry? Funny is funny.
My wife has worked at movie theaters the last several years. People come out of the woodwork for any Tyler Perry movie. Dude’s got the demo locked up to himself it seems.
At least Spike Lee (used to be) a cultural touchstone. How has this guy managed to be THE black actor/filmmaker/entertainer that everybody wants to see all the time? I don’t get it.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
The crash scene was amazing, and while some parts were probably unrealistic, they sold the audience on the tactics through detailed explanations of their actions and strong acting.
At the end, the writers tried to set up a false choice and have a monumentally stupid decision act as catharsis. And despite the strong acting, it felt utterly contrived and unrealistic.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
Apparently that really happened. An Alaska Airlines flight had the same problem as the plane in Flight. The pilot inverted the plane to try and get out of the dive but it ended up crashing in the Pacific
February 18th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
Because John Singleton made a decade long string of abysmal project choices.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
Gonna say, wasn’t that Rian Johnson?
As an aside, I’ll defend Brick all damn day. Never understand how people can hate that movie.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
I think I’ve over shows about organized crime.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Needed subtitles.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
I thought he was pretty terrible, actually, and I’m a big JGL fan.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
Brick is great.
That film was 1940′s-1950′s noir and it’s wonderful.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
This is the internet. People hate everything.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Kevin Hart was also in a couple of episodes of Modern Family. He was Phil’s neighbor.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Because John Singleton made a decade long string of abysmal project choices.
Damn. I’d forgotten about him.
Sad.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Brick was a good movie. It’s a bit too serious for it’s own good but it was made for less than half a million dollars.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
How about lilli Diamond? Damn.
Nsfw
February 18th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
So did the rest of America. Peaked with Boyz N the Hood. His Marion Jones 30 for 30 was awful. He was in it more than she was.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
There’s certainly organized crime elements, but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s not Boardwalk Empire. More about the tough decisions at hotel owner and his family need to make in order to survive in an increasingly turbulent 1950s Miami.
If the show was on HBO instead of Starz, I think it would get weekly recaps from all the major pop culture sites and be a fixture at awards shows (same with Hunted, BTW). There’s some serious potential here. Whether it’s realized in season one (i;ve only watched four of the eight eps) remains to be seen.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
To take public transit is doable. You’d have to take the orange line from Midway to downtown. Then you get the red line to the purple line to get to Evanston. That would probably take a while but if you’re not in a hurry it’s no problem and you could stop off somewhere to kill time if you wanted to. Hotel is a tougher question. There’s nowhere to stay in Evanston. If you will have time after the game to explore or go out, I’d stay downtown. If you’re planning on holding up in the hotel after the game, then I’d get a hotel near Midway. Make sure any hotel around Midway is a brand you trust though. Midway isn’t in the greatest neighborhood and has some sketchy hotels around it.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
Watched Flight in theater. The girl at the hospital tells him that she lives in Macon. Next thing you see is Denzel knocking on her door with skyline of Atlanta in background. I mean………..
February 18th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
I’m mesmerized by Genevieve Morton’s boobs. Stunning.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
anyone use Roku? thinking about picking one up for the bedroom tv.
any other alternatives?
February 18th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
February 18th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
Roku or Apple TV are your best options. I’d recommend an xbox too but wait a while for the new one to release later this year.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
42 days until Game of Thrones season 3 premiers. So excited.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
I mean, he wasn’t in it much, like Queefer said, and the only complaint I’ve really heard from people is the voice, but I thought it was kind of necessary as it was Cobra Commander.
February 18th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
Now that Apple TV lets HBOGo AirPlay through it I’d go Apple TV. I think the future is brighter for Apple TV; more so than Roku.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
I love both. Friend and I will always pull the “Skate better. Just skate better.” line with the inflection, but change the verb to whatever we’re talking about.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
No supershuttle to Evanston. There has got to be a shuttle that will take you right there. I’d call the school and say you are a student coming in for a visit to campus and if they have a recommended service
February 18th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
AT&T came around my neighborhood with a new offer this weekend. So a quick call to current provider (Comcast) got my bill reduced by $25 per month. They also added HBO, Starz, Showtime and Cinemax. Can anyone recommend a series to start watching on any of those? With Top Chef and Gold Rush about over, I need something new to watch.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
I’ve been thinking about apple tv, too. I like the iTunes library for video… but down on the fact that amazon prime doesn’t have an app.
if I could talk my wife into the ps3 or 360 in the bedroom I could probably also talk an eskimo into buying ice.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
It would be nice if, six weeks from the premiere, we had seen one fucking second of footage. HBO did SUCH a good job promoting the second season and it paid off big time. Not sure if that crew got a raise and a new account or what, but this year’s batch of teasers and marketing have been atrocious.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
Suprised none of the chicago people are stepping up to give Lisk a ride.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
Lisk-
Angry is right, but stay downtown or north of downtown.
Don’t drive, not worth the traffice and parking prices. El will take you everywhere you need to go.
Don’t stay at midway, nothing there. Evanston is a dry town also. Go to Wrigleyville for drinks and Rush street for food.
Have fun.

//the two dutch field hockey players, great asses.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
HBO — Get the HBOGo app and block off your life for the next six months. The Wire, Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, Generation Kill, Boardwalk Empire, Luck, Veep, Curb, Oz.
Cinemax — Strikeback and Hunted are the only two series (non porn division) worth watching. Banshee is hobo semen.
Showtime — Homeland for starters. People say Dexter is good.
Starz — Boss and Magic City
February 18th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
get HBO GO and the Cinemax Go fired up. check out Strike Back on cinemax for a pretty good action show.
homeland, first season of Dexter, True Blood.

//the two dutch field hockey players, great asses.
Those two photos with them and their field sticks are a delight.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:05 AM
Lisk if nobody can help out I’ll shoot a message to Rollo and see if his sister-in-law has any free time, maybe she can make the road trip.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
watch out for the Sex Barn.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Was there ever any finality to that story?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
Game of Thrones and Veep for HBO.
I think the minimalist campaign is actually awesome. It sucks as a fan because I want to see that stuff, but it also makes you crave it even more. After 2 seasons, they’re firmly entrenched within the viewers’ mind.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
True, but the one one on the right has an incredibly awkward look on her face in the majority of the pics. It’s almost as if she has to take a dump and she’s trying to keep from shitting herself, thus making a weird face.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
Walking Dead rant: SO these people train with weapons, can shoot a zombie in the head every single damn time. BUT, in a big shootout, they can’t hit shit. The Govenor is sitting out in the fucking open like an idiot and they can’t hit him. It took like 100 fucking rounds to hit the dude in the guard tower that was sitting there like a turkey. I try to just accept the circumstances of the show but last night I went back to farm mode, at least there is more action.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
I watched one episode of this show and knew I’d come to hate-watch it at best and decided against it. Zombie shows/movies, by their very nature, are infuriating.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
The Walking Dead will just never be a good show. The best it can hope for is mindless entertainment than occasionally hits some dramatic highs. The show’s biggest mistake was trying to be a “serious drama” right off the bat when it didn’t have the acting or writing required to achieve the goal.
12 million people a week don’t tune in to watch Rick break down. They like zombie kills. More of those + less awful writing and acting = a version of Walking Dead that’s at least lizard brain entertaining.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
the walking dead is absolute horseshit
February 18th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
That’s HOF catcher.
I can’t stop at this point. It’s the only thing I hate watch, usually I would just move on. I have no desire for any of the characters to survive (except maybe Darrell). Zombie apocalypse is no time for wishy-washy thinking. I think what I would enjoy more is a show about the stand at that college from that portion of World War Z. But no, they turned that whole book into a horrible Brad Pitt movie.
/zombies don’t run
February 18th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
anyone use Roku? thinking about picking one up for the bedroom tv.
Just got a Roku. I might get another.
My only complaint (not sure about apple) is that you can’t stream from a website – seems to me a little browser on it would’ve been easy.
But it’s a nice, easy-to-use little box.
Netflix 2 simultaneous viewer restriction is a pain – I may have to get a second subscription.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
i’ll see the movie, but I won’t like it.
that show should have been picked up by one of the premium channels and turned into a series.
maybe like “red shoe diaries” meets zombies, but without all the sex.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
BUT, in a big shootout, they can’t hit shit
Zombies aren’t shooting back?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
Roku has HBO Go, right? or am I thinking of the Apple TV?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
I hope this is a joke, because that’s just completely horrible to make those suggestions.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
I love that WWZ appears to make the zombies legitimately terrifying rather than a lumbering, slow-moving creature that wouldn’t be a threat to anyone with a brain.
That said, the book is unadaptable within the constraints of a two-hour movie and will most likely suck bleached asshole.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Sopranos is overrated.
/pulls pin
//goes back to bed
February 18th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
is this ranked as better or worse than sucking a non bleached asshole?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Daryl slamming the zombie head in the trunk of the car was good.
You cant have just an hour of people killing zombies every week though, glad there was some action last night, I just hope it doesnt get bogged down in the prison like the farm. Glad that the Adventures of Daryl and Merle in the Woods didnt last long. Where was Tyrese’s crew? Thought it was funny that they’re stuck in this prison, yet they have a brand new Dodge Ram pickup. Product placement.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Roku has HBO Go
Yes.

February 18th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
But I think your adrenaline is pumping just as hard when flesh-eating zombies are moving towards you. Plus, the people shooting the guns WEREN’T MOVING. The Govenor was sitting out in plain daylight with no cover.
A thousand times yes, only way to fit in all the good stuff that came from that book.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
A year ago, former catcher Gary Carter passed away.
Last year I was in the ICU that weekend when I had that reaction to my shingles medication. Gary Carter had just died and ESPN2 played the WS games 6 & 7 back to back on the TV. Only thing that saved my sanity that weekend.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
28 Days Later really got this going.
And frankly, the entire re-vitilzation of the zombie genre. And while I love that movie I have to blame it for that. OMG GUYS MORE GOVERNMENTS RELEASING STATEMENTS ABOUT ZOMBIES LOLOLOLOLUPVOTE
February 18th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
You can jailbreak your Apple TV and it does a good bit more. I’m just too lazy to it.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
This doesn’t make any sense. DId you read the book?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
Right. By downtown, I meant preferably River North area or further north. That way you’re closer to better restaurants, bars, etc. The Loop gets pretty quiet on weekends so you don’t want to be there.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
Plus, the people shooting the guns WEREN’T MOVING
I never shot a gun, but I’m guessing picking off zombies is like shooting buffalo. Suprise attack also. Love how Axel just bit it like that, that’s why I like the show good jump out of seat moments like that.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
Skyfall is terrible.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
Could not agree more.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
I finally watched Unstoppable last night. More runaway train movies please
February 18th, 2013 at 10:30 AM
Started falling apart when Big Pussy gets killed. Joey Pants ruined so so much of that show.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
You can jailbreak your Apple TV and it does a good bit more. I’m just too lazy to it.
I’m considering buying a couple of Raspberry Pi computers and making my own.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
I’d try MK, Purple Pig or Publican if you’re staying in the loop or river north. Rush street is not where you want to be unless you’re on the company dime.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Bill cosby, richard pryor, bernie mac, dave chapelle, chris rock, hannibal burress, eddie murphy. All good black comedians. Katt williams and kevin hart? GTFO

February 18th, 2013 at 10:33 AM
Yes. I’m also a huge proponent of making adaptations that work within different mediums. Being overly faithful to source material is often just as big a problem as not preserving enough.
In the book the human were overrun largely because of numbers, something Foster seems to have preserved. But mindless wanders don’t really work on the big screen. Slow, stupid wanderers provide little to no danger. I feel like I’d have a strong chance of surviving the Walking Dead style zombie apocalypse. One in the WWZ or 28 Days Later form? No way in hell.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Obligatory.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
I’m shocked OZ isn’t TBL’s favorite show with all that dong in it.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:41 AM
In the show we are about a year into apocalypse territory here; nothing short of the almighty coming down to have afternoon tea should surprise these people and keep them off guard. Plus, they were all planning on Woodbury showing up anyway.
I guess we differ in prospective here. In an open field a few zombies lumbering after you is an easy scenario to escape. But look at the situations in teh book. Whole herds of zombies coming at you, who don’t get tired, who are not looking after loved ones. People panic, they set your plans to escape freely into disarray. Think of the harbor in India, the freeway in Nebraska from the book. Being overwhelmed in numbers had nothing to do with how fast the zombies move. The main point of WWZ is to illustrate how the human condition at the turn of the century almost lead to our anihilation. Don’t need running zombies for that, but I agree you can’t tell that whole story in a 2 hour movie.
Oh, and I think the guy who re-wrote WWZ wrote Prometheus so…..good luck.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:44 AM
I think Lindelof just came in to fix the third act. Which, given how disastrously Lost and Prometheus ended, really doesn’t help my point at all.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:47 AM
Cleet, it’s hard to imagine the Battle of Yonkers unfolding on film without fast zombies. No one would buy the army losing to a herd of mindless drunks, even if that herd numbered in the millions.
Worse property to try and shoehorn into a film: The Passage, or WWZ?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:49 AM
So a main character will die in WWZ from failing to step ten feet to either the left or right and will get crushed by a ferriswheel made of zombies?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:50 AM
February 18th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
Battleship? Candyland? Clue?
February 18th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
I disagree. You have the cocky military blasting away at the zombies, and celebrating. Fuck yeah, we are awesome, we are Murica. Then…uh-oh, they just keep coming (slowly) because it is every fucking zombie from the island of manhattan. Then, zombies pop up from other directions. Panic sets in….soon chaos ensues. Agreed you can’t put that all into a 5-10 minute scene like the movie is sure to try.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:54 AM
I think it’s feasible, but the issue at hand is how they want to set up an allegorical symbolism of American military and encountering threats.
28 weeks later hit this with a sledgehammer.
the battle of yonkers, could be just as powerful with slow moving zombies for the simple fact that it would have a really slow build up and just come crashing down in carnage.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:55 AM
Those are board games. I’m talking about properties with source material that lends itself to film adaptation.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:56 AM
Clue was a great adaptation.

February 18th, 2013 at 11:08 AM
you are probably right. I was thinking Neal Mcdonough or Eric Bana. Hell, just about anyone would be better than chippy, little Tom Cruise.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
I don’t find him to be funny. He’s the worst character on Community and judging be early results, we won’t have to worry about it much longer.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
Neal “The villain on every FX show ever” Mcdonough and Eric Bana aren’t pulling in over 100 million in overseas ticket sales though.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:15 AM
Bana could probably pull a few wallabies or something in Australia.
I hope that movie didn’t pull that much over seas. Just a waste of a franchise by casting Cruise though. That could be a star making vehicle.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:16 AM
very true.
could make a case for “the rock”… but he’s The Rock. maybe another wrestler, but they can’t act. Jason Statham, but he’s The Transporter and doesn’t have enough hair. also british. channing tatum, too young.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:18 AM
It did. 80 million here, 110 overseas.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:18 AM
could be, but they also picked a less than ideal first story to introduce people to Reacher.
One Shot was good, but I would have gone with “the Persuader” or “Gone Tomorrow”, maybe even “the Enemy” over “one shot”
February 18th, 2013 at 11:20 AM
It took me until season 3 before I could even watch SVU for that reason
February 18th, 2013 at 11:22 AM
For the record Lee Child said Cruise was the best possible choice.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:25 AM
I think he can act the role the best, I agree with Child’s assessment.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:35 AM
I figured Lee Child was hoping for a big pay day. A young Tom Berrenger would have been ideal.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:38 AM
Bana could probably pull a few wallabies or something in Australia.
chopper ftw
A young Tom Berrenger would have been ideal.
what about brolin?
February 18th, 2013 at 11:38 AM
Or a “Major League” era Tom berrenger anyways.
February 18th, 2013 at 11:40 AM
I could see Brolin in that role. He could pull that off and he probably wouldn’t try to do any tai-kwon do (or some other bullshit) like Cruise surely did.
