Five Profoundly Unromantic Things That Happened on Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day began with a beheading. Over the subsequent millennia, it has become a behemoth fueled by bland corporatism and depression. Feb. 14 remains a day like any other, though, and some entirely passionless events have happened while folks were out getting their romance on. For levity’s sake, we’ll skip over Strasbourg, the Firebombing of Dresden and the Salman Rushdie fatwa.
February 14, 1854: Texas was linked to the rest of the United States by telegraph. Telegraph may be the least intimate communication form of all-time. Even the tenderest messages sound cold and curt. Multiple third-parties are involved. Humans have not devised a way to turn it prurient.
February 14, 1924: Thomas Watson started the International Business Machines Corporation, better known as IBM. The name is as boring and utilitarian as the products. It’s hard to find an emblem of every day realism and drudgery more poignant than corporate data storage. IBM’s idea of whimsy? Adding a smidge of geometric flare to a giant black box.
February 14, 1929: Alexander Fleming unveiled his recently discovered antibiotic penicillin. Sure, this was one of the most revolutionary achievements in the history of medicine and an undoubted boon for mankind, but could there be a bigger cry for human intimacy than playing with bread mold alone in a basement laboratory?
February 14, 1971: Richard Nixon installed his secret taping system in the White House. Nothing gets that blood flowing like a little red wine and some hot Nixon chats.
February 14, 1977: The B-52′s played their first concert together at an Athens, Georgia house party. They are possibly the dorkiest band of all-time. Fred Schneider’s voice is the cold shower of pop music. Listening to a B-52′s album foments the urge to add articles of clothing.

Considering penicillin’s long-time use as a first-line agent against syphilis, I think it’s rather appropriate.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:08 PM
Duffy only listens to Miles Davis and Billie Holiday. He doesn’t have time for the B52′s,

Duffy only listens to Miles Davis and Billie Holiday. He doesn’t have time for the B52′s,
Favorite song? Strange Fruit.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:09 PM
I’m guessing this was too obvious?

And more enjoyable than effing R.E.M.

Good post, duffy. Canadian 5 cent nickel authorized on this day too. It wasn’t a sexy event.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:11 PM
REM has always been just okay for me. Not much an opinion either way, though they named “Automatic for the People” after a great soul food restaurant in Athens, so that’s cool.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:12 PM
first off, if duffy’s half the snob we think he is, he’d be into way more intellectual shit than miles and billie holliday. duffy strikes me as an intellectual jazzer who’d probably go more for birth of the cool era miles, bill evans, monk and keith jarrett.

/im a testosterone fueled complex-loving musical gymnastic jazzer myself
So you’re more into Bitches Brew era Miles Davis?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:13 PM
I like RATM. Not sure where that comes in. Angry white suburban dweller perhaps.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:13 PM
No way. We saw the hemp necklace; Duffy loves himself some Dave Matthews and OAR.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:14 PM
REM is a really really great band.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:15 PM
I can agree with that. Handful of decent songs. I just don’t buy them as an all-time band.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:15 PM
No way. We saw the hemp necklace; Duffy loves himself some Dave Matthews and OAR.
Full disclosure: I too was a fan of both in college. No puka shells or hemp necklace for me though.
/someone update the spreadsheeet
February 14th, 2013 at 4:15 PM
Everyone likes RATM.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:15 PM
This is so far out of bounds it’s not even funny. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:16 PM
I own one Wynton Marsalis album. That’s the extent of my jazz knowledge. Music may be the one thing I’m not snobby about.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:16 PM
Music may be the one thing I’m not snobby about.
Spencer can help you with that.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:16 PM
So I fixed up the basement

Stocked it full of jelly jars and heavy…equipment!

I’ll try not to judge you.

People here have bully-like tendencies.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:17 PM
that’s about when i started tuning him out…in a silent way is far superior, imo.
there’s some miles in there, but mostly for trane and cannonball, but im thinking more along the lines of john coltrane, jaco pastorius, chick corea, keith jarrett, buddy rich, joe henderson, some selective pat metheny, john mcluaughlin, 70′s era herbie hancock…probably about three dozen im missing, but you get the point.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:17 PM
OAR it is.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:17 PM
I’m guessing it’s not the one with Willie Nelson?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:17 PM
I went to two Dave Matthews concerts in high school. Grew out of him when everyone else did.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:17 PM
I’ll try not to judge you.
No it’s ok, I deserve to be judged for that. I was a stupid kid who didn’t know any better.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:17 PM
duffy, i know we’ve had our differences in the past, but i think you’d def become a huge jazz fan if someone pointed you in the right direction.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:18 PM
I’m a dick when it comes to music. I like shitty music myself, yet I will make fun of you for your own musical tastes. I’m history’s worst monster.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:18 PM
first off, if duffy’s half the snob we think he is, he’d be into way more intellectual shit than miles and billie holliday. duffy strikes me as an intellectual jazzer who’d probably go more for birth of the cool era miles, bill evans, monk and keith jarrett.
Nice smokescreen, Sprencer. We all know you and Ty trade Creed bootlegs.
Everyone likes RATM.
I like their music, but everyone in that band is an insufferable jackass. Except the drummer. I don’t know anything about him.

REM’s “Out of Time” album was big when I was an undergrad and reminds me of my college years even now. Anything they did after 1994 is kinda not very good.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
I actually just saw him recently. Not really by choice. The wife had to go for work purposes, in a box, so I had to play arm candy.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
wynton marsalis reminds me of matt ryan. looks the part, occasionally hits those high notes the greats can, but it just feels so hollow and rote.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
I think we’re around the same age and I’m in the same boat, absolutely loved him in middle school and high school and saw him several times, saw him with Tim Reynolds my freshman year of college and thought okay I can move on from this now.
That was over a decade ago, what blows my mind is that college kids today, the ones that were in diapers when DMB got big, are huge fans. I guess generic suburban high school / college rock is timeless.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
Fuck that. I couldn’t name another OAR song outside of the poker one, but I had some great times with that song in the background during college. Actual poker games, good times at bars and banging my eventual wife. I can get down that song if not for anything other than good times. Same thing with Outkast’s B.O.B. Always reminds me of getting high in high school.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
Hoobastank. That’s some great music right there.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:21 PM
I went to two Dave Matthews concerts in high school. Grew out of him when everyone else did.
1993. They played at a long defunct bar in Lawrence named Benchwarmers. It was either $.25 draw night or $1 amaretto sour night. Either way, we watched them and one of my friends said that is possibly the worst college band ever. I swear to Paolo that it was two months later and MTV started playing his first hit non-stop. My Hate had blossomed. Now, I don’t give a fuck. Too many listening options to bitch. You don’t have to listen to a song you don’t like.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:21 PM
obligatory.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:21 PM
That’s a great point.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:21 PM
I’M NOT AAAA PERFEEECCCTTT PERRRSSSONNNN
February 14th, 2013 at 4:21 PM
Could never understand the popularity of Dave Matthews and always assumed it was a bunch of kids who were sad for missing out on the Grateful Dead in the late 80′s and didn’t quite understand Phish.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:22 PM
This is such a great meme.
Ouch. Ryan was great this year. I’ll defend his 2012 season forever.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
The drummer is the insane one that actually seems to be the one that follows the message of the band. Didn’t he almost kill himself scaling the set of an MTV awards show or something?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
There’s a jukebox. I’m gonna go play 7 dollars worth of Hoobastank.
/rafi’d
February 14th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
Phish can suck a big, fat dick. Their fans are also annoying as hell.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
and wynton marsalis’ box set at the village vanguard is one of the best albums in my collection…it’s really not that big of a knock tho. one could make a very strong argument that marsalis is the biggest figure in jazz since the mid 1980′s.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
No Marcy Playground love?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
Oh you mother fucker for even daring to put those in the same statement.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
Ahhh, Spence beat me to it. Should’ve known.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:24 PM
Could never understand the popularity of Dave Matthews and always assumed it was a bunch of kids who were sad for missing out on the Grateful Dead in the late 80′s and didn’t quite understand Phish.
This seems very likely.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:24 PM
phish is like candy when you’re high…it’s great unless you eat/listen to too much. then you question the very reason you started in the first place.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:24 PM
That was the bassist.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:24 PM
You’re a UGA fan, which is the epicenter of Widespread Panic fans, who are just about the same but with wavy hair instead of dreads.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:25 PM
Eh, 1994.
03/07/94 (Mon) Benchwarmers – Lawrence, KS
Set 1: One Sweet World, Trippin Billies, Satellite, Lie In Our Graves, Song That Jane Likes, What Would You Say, Dancin Nancies
Set 2: Minarets, Typical Situation, Help Myself, Warehouse, Angel from Montgomery, #36, Recently, Ants Marching
February 14th, 2013 at 4:25 PM
Wow I thought Y tim K (DOOOOOOOOOOOOUCHE move on the name) was the drummer. Oops.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:26 PM
Widespread is another one that I don’t like and it has everything to do with their fans.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:26 PM
That’s fair. I was listening to the show from last summer this morning, it’s great in bursts.
Symphony show was a year ago today, #neverforget.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:26 PM
Admittedly I couldn’t name or even point out one Phish/Widespread song, so my opinion of them is entirely based on their fans annoying me.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
My buddy went to this show in Atlanta and raved about it, though it might have just been Trey. I would have gone to hear the symphony.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
Didn’t he almost kill himself scaling the set of an MTV awards show or something?
That was the bassist.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
Maybe I’m wrong. Happens quite frequently.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
Okay, KC Res is never wrong.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
It was just Trey.
Nah you’re right for sure.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
Duffy’s favorite acts are Dispatch, Oasis, and Graham Parker
February 14th, 2013 at 4:29 PM
ah, but that’s special…that shit’s got staying power. i still listen to trey’s set with the orchestra from bonaroo in 2002 (or 2003, can’t remember).
and phish and widespread arent the worst jam band…that’s umphree’s mcgee. they’re the WORST. i actually find them far more pretentious than yes or dream theater…yes and DT can actually play their instruments well enough to justify 15+ minute instrumental odysseys.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:29 PM
Anyone listen to Rammstein?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:29 PM
Dude with the sleeve, right? I was so pumped for their show in Atlanta when I was a SR in high school. They were touring with the Beastie Boys, but then one of the BBs was hit by a car while riding his bike and the show was cancelled. I was pissed.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:30 PM
Dispatch
Dispatch is pretentious they also happen to be pretty damn good.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:30 PM
Could never understand the popularity of Dave Matthews and always assumed it was a bunch of kids who were sad for missing out on the Grateful Dead in the late 80′s and didn’t quite understand Phish.
Maybe later, but in the beginning it was college girls that didn’t like grunge and had grown up out of NKOTB.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:30 PM
Oasis is my favorite band. I’ve mentioned this a few times. I’m pretty sure Duffman has made fun of me for liking them.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:30 PM
German is perfect language for heavy metal. You could be singing about lily flowers and cotton candies, but it sounds aggressive nonetheless.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:30 PM
Phish and Panic both have incredibly talented musicians (panic less so since Mikey died), also we were looking for “The String Cheese Incident.”
February 14th, 2013 at 4:31 PM
Oh I can get down with some Dispatch.
2003 I think, unless he played back to back years. I went in 2003 and had a blast, but hated almost all of the main acts. Luckily I was munching on shermans all weekend long and didn’t give a shit.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:31 PM
First time I saw RATM, Wu-Tang opened up. That was a fucking awesome show. 1997 I think.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:31 PM
No, you are correct. Brad is the drummer.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:32 PM
Everyone likes Tom Morello.
I saw him as The Nightwatchman at a Wakarusa. Even the hippies were laughing at him. Hypocritical asshat.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:33 PM
youre right…widespread was a casualty of distraction. my mistake. but my point stands on umphree’s mcgee.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:33 PM
REM is a really really great band.
they are great if you like whiny crap.
oh, in case yall forgot, MMJ is the best band out now. so suck it.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:33 PM
This is how I feel about DMB outside of Dave himself.
I’ve said this before, but Carter Beauford is my favorite drummer. He’s fucking awesome.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:33 PM
Also I love Phish but the majority of their fans annoy the everloving shit out of me.
Trust fund hippies are the worst people alive.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:34 PM
speak for yourself.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:34 PM
I’m going to see Fun tomorrow in Atlanta (yes, I know many of you hate them). A buddy of mine saw them in Austin this week and said it was a great show. Plus it’s at The Tabernacle which is a small venue (I saw Weezer there and fucking loved it a few years back).

Never heard one of their songs, so I’ll just say they’re the worst.

Michael Stipe is one of the worst human beings around. An idealistic, sanctimonious c’sucker with no concept of reality
February 14th, 2013 at 4:35 PM
Truest statement ever.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:36 PM
I’m going to see George Clinton and P Funk on Saturday.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:36 PM
Who is MMJ?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:36 PM
MMJ, Minus the Bear, The Hold Steady, The Gaslight Anthem.
The quadrilateral of fucking boring music.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
oh there’s worse…i mean, wouldnt you do the same thing if you didnt have to worry about money? i sure as hell would.
id say those bus rapists in india are probably worse.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
Saw them in Athens when I was in school. Good show. Clinton only came out for maybe 30 min and muttered nonsense, but the band was great and played without him for at least 1.5 hours.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
Phish and Panic both have incredibly talented musicians (panic less so since Mikey died), also we were looking for “The String Cheese Incident.”
Herring is a hell of a guitarist. Better than the guy that replaced Mikey.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
Favorite bands from my era were Oasis and Weezer
Also listen to 60s/70s stuff – Kinks, Queen, Bowie etc.
Have absorbed Arctic Monkeys since I graduated college.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
My Morning Jacket…I literally only know this because MPIII brings them up in every music conversation.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:37 PM

February 14th, 2013 at 4:39 PM
Somehow I’m not shocked we have similar tastes.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:39 PM
I loved Boulder when I went up there a couple of years ago.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:39 PM

You’re gonna have a blast. I’m going to see Jim Jeffries on Saturday.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Queen
This gives me an excuse to post this.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Duffy has thrown out some good music when he gets tasked with the Round Up. I remember it was a live version of Whipping Post…and I had to scroll up, because there was no way JMac knew The Allman Brothers.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
It’s in Columbus, too. That’s right I am willingly going to Ohio, people.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Queen is fantastic. One of those acts I wish I could have seen live.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
This crowd may be too old and musically snooty, but The Offspring is 90′s goodness
February 14th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Wow. Duffman and I have a lot in common, as far as musical tastes.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:42 PM
Seeing as though he once lauded the Party in the USA song as his summer anthem, I’d have to agree.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:42 PM
Smash was the first CD I bought with my own money (parents had Columbia House, those gulible bastards), had to convince my mom to go with me to get it because of the sticker.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:42 PM
Who is MMJ?
my morning jacket out of louisville, KY. boring? no way. have been recording for 14 years, and are all over the map with the sound, but somehow it all sounds great. and they also put on the best live show you will see.
getting back into band of horses’s first album. SOLID.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:43 PM
Lonely Island doesn’t get enough blame for the whole “here’s some non-blacks who are acting black. Isn’t that funny?” phenomenon. Aziz Ansari built his whole career around this premise.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:43 PM
One of my favorites. Just saw Carolla in Boston
February 14th, 2013 at 4:43 PM
Offspring opened for 311 last year or so and was pretty awful. Love me some 311 though. Kings of Leon were great in concert, too. Though two days after our show they walked off of the stage in Texas because the lead singer had “exhaustion,” which I assume meant he was too fucked up to play.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:44 PM
Jesus Christ I couldn’t agree with you more on your comedic tastes.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:44 PM
Liked the first album. Think I was a freshman in high school. Maybe 8th grade. That was about for my listening to them.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:45 PM
I’m going to see George Clinton and P Funk on Saturday.
one of the best times i have ever had at a concert.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:45 PM
Bill Burr is coming to Atlanta in April, I believe. I want to go watch him do his thing. He always makes me laugh.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:45 PM
That’s a pretty apt description.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:46 PM
KOL was solid in concert. I like small venues more. The Whigs and Band of Skulls crushed Exit/In few years ago in Nashville
February 14th, 2013 at 4:46 PM
Lonely Island did Dick in a Box, right? If so they have a lifetime pass for me. Jizz in my Pants was also fantastic.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
Seeing as though he once lauded the Party in the USA song as his summer anthem, I’d have to agree.
Nicki Minaj’s song, um, I have no clue what it was called was TBL’s 2011 Summer Song of the Year.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
The Whigs
badasses.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
I saw them together a few years ago too. GREAT show.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
I saw them together a few years ago too. GREAT show.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:48 PM
A phenomenon though? Is it that widespread?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:48 PM
I really regret not spending the money to see more acts come through Athens. Top three regret after not fucking two chicks because I was in that post-relationship-but-we-might-get-back-together-phase. Fucking dumbass.

UGA swim and dive team crushed that. Football team did a good job with it, but nothing will touch the swim and dive team.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:50 PM
Seconded.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:51 PM
Why is this a new thing? The Senator introduced this here website to it about a year and a half ago. Are us whities just slow on the uptake?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:51 PM
I had a good time, but I guess I don’t remember it being this good. I was high af though.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:52 PM
That’s exactly what it is. It’s something that’s been around in the black community for ages but now that whitey found out about it it blows up with tons of white people doing it in funny ways and shit.
White appropriation of black culture and manuerisms for laughs and novelty is not new, but with the advent of the internet it certainly has exploded.
Andy Samberg is the new minstrel show.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:53 PM
A phenomenon though? Is it that widespread?
Google “harlem shake.”
It ain’t a phenomenon until CRM latches hold.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:54 PM
I now fully support Die Fuhrer’s original statement, ya dig?
February 14th, 2013 at 4:55 PM
Nicki Minaj’s song, um, I have no clue what it was called was TBL’s 2011 Summer Song of the Year.
Superbass!
February 14th, 2013 at 4:55 PM
I am a huge advocate of doing various black voices for my own amusement. Smooth talking guy, high voice guy, and deep voice guy top the list
February 14th, 2013 at 4:55 PM
I just love that Aaron Murray is wearing a Mitt Romney mask in the team’s video.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:56 PM
He at the Newport? If so, it’s directly across from OSU’s campus. His shows bring a good mix of folks.
February 14th, 2013 at 4:56 PM
Well isnt the actual Harlem Shake and the new internet Harlem Shake two completely different things? The former is a black thing and the latter is a electronic song titled “Harlem Shake” — it’s kind of the same but not really.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:00 PM
I only know the original from JerseyYo!
February 14th, 2013 at 5:01 PM

It’s at the LC in the Arena District, I see. Drinking won’t be as cheap, but a good time can still be had. Best deal is on the Amber Bock.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:03 PM
Dont’t you mean HIV-ICIOUS?
February 14th, 2013 at 5:03 PM
I’m HIV positive that’s what you meant.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:04 PM
I was into WP for a while back in college, then I figured out that all their “jams” turn into the same jumbled, awful sounding mess and I haven’t listened since.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:05 PM
Excellent selection, old man. My favorite B-52s song.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:05 PM
that’s all you lawya…you aint gettin me to talk bad about freddie.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:05 PM
freddie mercury might be my favorite singer of all time…dude’s phrasing was VICIOUS.
Charismatic as hell too.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:06 PM
Q: What did the Phish fan say when the drugs wore off?
A: “This band sucks.”
February 14th, 2013 at 5:07 PM
also, tim ryan is out of his damn mind
February 14th, 2013 at 5:09 PM
Do fries come with that Harlem Shake?
February 14th, 2013 at 5:09 PM
I enjoy flaming gay men and by enjoy i mean listening to them. So b-52s guy is fun and they made a lot of fun tunes. Favorite lines:
Who’s to blame when a party is poorly planned?!
We were at the beach; everybody had matching towels!
/every line had a !
February 14th, 2013 at 5:11 PM
Someone earlier mentioned insufferable jackasses. Voila.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:12 PM
would it surprise you to know that he’s my 2nd fav behind zappa?
February 14th, 2013 at 5:12 PM
George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will always remind me of PCU. Oh the days when Jeremy Piven wasn’t a complete douchebag
February 14th, 2013 at 5:13 PM
Nice to see the whigs love. Took a chance on fat lip when it came out and loved the whole disc
February 14th, 2013 at 5:15 PM
Kate Pierson from the B-52′s is still gettin it done. I saw a concert from a couple years ago. Still looks good for a lady in her early 60′s
February 14th, 2013 at 5:16 PM
I had a great one-year stretch in 1977-’78 when I saw Zeppelin, the Kinks and the Rolling Stones.
/ I’m very old
February 14th, 2013 at 5:18 PM
She’s the rock-n-roll Helen Mirren.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:20 PM
Spencer, I can’t argue against Jarrett as a musician, but he’s like the Dan Fogelberg of jazz when it comes to personality.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:20 PM
Am I the only one who doesn’t care for the Rolling Stones aside from a few songs? They bore me.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:28 PM
That’s funny shit. The show is an experience though. My one and only Phish concert I parachuted a bunch of Molly. It was the day after MJ died, and right in the middle of “2001,” they start playing “Billie Jean.” So many glowsticks!
February 14th, 2013 at 5:30 PM
yea, he’s a total asshole…i think ive told this story on here before, but once when jarrett was playing a sold out severance hall in cleveland, he essentially stood up after 5 minutes of noodling, said “im not feelin’ it” and gave a 45 minute lecture on why the term “world music” is bullshit.
we agree he’s an asshole, but you can kinda see why id like him too.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:31 PM
Phish has had their really good moments. I’ve never done drugs and I was able to appreciate some of their albums
February 14th, 2013 at 5:31 PM
Only way to do a Phish show. Also a big part of what made George Clinton such a great experience for me.
February 14th, 2013 at 5:34 PM
/googles “parachute a bunch of molly”
