This Photo of Nerlens Noel’s Knee Buckling and Almost Parallel to the Court Will Make You Cringe [UPDATE: Torn ACL]
Nerlens Noel, one of the country’s best freshman, may have had his college career end Tuesday when his knee buckled against the Gators. Kentucky hasn’t announced anything yet, but if Noel managed to escape serious injury, it would be a minor miracle. Just look at this photo, courtesy of the Lexington Herald-Leader: Noel’s leg is almost parallel to the ground.
[UPDATE: The school just announced Noel has a torn ACL and is out for the season.]
If Noel’s injury requires a major surgery and he’s out 6-9 months, does he still get drafted 1st overall in June? He probably wouldn’t even be ready for the start of the NBA season. Could the injury make it possible that Noel actually stays at Kentucky one more year? That seems unlikely given the fact that he could get injured again.

I believe you wanted “parallel”, not “perpendicular”. His leg is nearly parallel to the court.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
well, you fixed the spelling of perpendicular, at least. But that doesn’t make it the right word.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
At least it’s spelled right this time I guess.

Well if those weren’t the two most predictable simultaneous comments in the site’s history, I don’t know what would be.

wait, you didn’t even fix the spelling of perpAndicular in the title. So you pulled this down and did nothing, I guess.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
Yes, he would want his leg to be perpendicular to the court.

Their newspaper is called “The Crimson White”? That IS disgustingly stupid.

Yesterday it was law school. Today, geometry.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Um, Noel’s lower leg is almost parallel to the floor. It is also pretty much perpendicular to his upper leg. So the title is still wrong.

Thankfully the AU paper is not the Orange-Blue.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
So the title is still wrong.
He also reiterates in the text of the post.
But we’re probably the ones who are dicks and “have changed” because he doesn’t know 9th grade geometry.

whaddup, gumby?
February 13th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
perpendicular or parallel, point is that it’s fucking disgusting.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
I agree, it’s rediculous
February 13th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
Fuck Theorems. What is this English?

The most damning part of that article – outside of the whole attacks that should put Williams in prison for twenty years part – is this
And each was able to post or get bail posted immediately, Williams for $6500.
PAY THE PLAYERS!

(•_•) This mis-use of geometry terms makes me want to hang myself

YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH

I changed the perpendicular to parallel.
Our commenters, on the other hand, are unperpendiculared.

I remember being bummed last night at the bar when they didn’t have a clear replay of this. Now I am glad that they didn’t.
This is especially weird given the great Shaun Livingston article that went up on Grantland this week.

Also, I’d like to remind you that the Bama players were indefinitely suspended and not yet kicked off the team.

I was told there would be no math.

You weren’t supposed to change it, Jason lisk, he was supposed to come in here and get all defensive and huffy, and threaten to pull our commenting cards and whatnot. Or better yet, to stick to his guns about perpendicularity, relative to knees
February 13th, 2013 at 10:38 AM
If he was smart he would start calling up Adrian Peterson’s HGH dealer.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:38 AM
did you also change the kings sheets and wash out his bedpan? At the rate this commentariat pounces, you may also want to sample his food at every meal to test for poison.

so as to distract myself from this I’ll just point out to those who live in the Philly area and also enjoy the craftier side of fermented beverages that you should probably keep your eyes open in the very near future for Pliny the Younger, as it is going to be making its way to taps in your area soon.
Don’t expect it to be there very long. my previous rec of phillytapfinder.com is probably going to be useful again here.

The human body isn’t meant to be this tall, and considering the kid is still a kid, it’s really not weird at all. Between Oden, Sullinger, and now Noel I would imagine there will surely be a post coming soon about how these kids are getting screwed by having to go to school for a year; when in actuality this kind of thing only strengthens the NBA’s case and resolve for the one and done rule: let the kids grow into their body in college, yeah if this happens when he’s a rookie in the NBA at 18 he’s got some money to fall back on, but whoever drafted him is just out millions in salary, and the asset of a high draft pick.

^^^THIS. I cannot stress enough how imperative it is that you try this beer. Skip work, leave your wife stranded at the grocery store, let your kids go hungry, but do not miss this beer. Consider yourselves lucky that Vinnie and his crowd have a reason to ship their beer to Philly

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll look forward to this.

Things ok at home, Dirt?
If Lisk hand’t of changed it, it would not have been changed. Dirt is right. This is the exact thing McIntyre would dig in his heals for.

Also, amble

As Tim “BubbaProg” Burke would say: ‘KNEES DO NOT BEND THAT WAY.”
