Street cred is like any other kind of credibility; be good at what you do, and be able and willing to protect yourself. If you’re hustling, be good at it. If you’re not about that life, don’t pretend you are. Stay away. That not talking to the police stuff is overstated. Whether it be about witnessing a crime on the hood, or calling about a loud party in the suburbs, how many people make it known to everyone that they are the people who called the police. Talking to the police is an industry all its own in the hood.

her point is valid. Superficially quoting and playing up that you once listened to Tupac doesn’t soften your politics to the people you’re trying to impress by repeating that over and over. Hell, Pac’s fanbase was largely comprised of white boys and mall rats who thought quoting a Pac lyric gave them some kind of cred. He was the Wire of the 90′s.

On Pandora, I had a very nicely refined rap/hip hop station. While doing yardwork (non-baseball division)…I absentmindedly gave a big band song a thumbs up (it’s a good song, but didn’t belong on this station).

That station is now 80% plus big band with no further thumbs up. Anyway to fix it? Or just delete the station and start over?
