Title IX already killed lots of wrestling programs, prolly tjfrank’s Duquesne program, this change ain’t gonna help. Elite wrestlers like Jordan Burroughs will have less motivation to stay on with no Olympics to shoot for. Very sad news for the sport. Huge wrestling fan, love to see Big Ten matches on their network. Recent Iowa/Penn St. one of the best collegiate sports events I’ve had the pleasure of watching, football and basketball included.

Here’s the thing, SEALS and all special forces get extra pay for their hazardous work while they are serving. So they are already treated better than the rest of the guys.

The other thing, less than 10% of those in the military see combat action, the vast majority do support work, nowhere near action. I did my time in the military and never, ever, ever, worried about being shot at and I served during Desert Shield…I was a mechanic, there were tons of mechanics, supply staff, admin staff, training staff, sevurity staff, etc.

Wrestled at Duquesne in Pittsburgh, which has since dropped its program. My brother also wrestled at Duquesne and in fact lost to Brian Glynn of Orchard Park and U of Ill at the NCAA tourney in 2004.

I wouldn’t mind flag football be included in Olympics. Before you laugh, let’s consider that walking is an Olympic sport. Out and out regular football would be a massacre. USA would crush everyone in their path.

Wrestling in London took place in the same venue as Judo, Weightlifting, Table tennis, boxing, fencing, and taekwondo. It took 7 days to complete something like 19 weight classes (14 men and 5 women). Table tennis went on for 12 days in the same space. If you want to say no one understands and/or watched it, that’s fine. But don’t tell me its a drain on resources.

Nobody watched wrestling and it takes forever and takes up a ton of space, it’s corrupt as hell, the only things going for it are its history (modern pentathalon started in 1912 by the way) and the global participation.
