Watch All of Miami’s 15 3-Pointers in the Hurricanes’ Rout of North Carolina [Video]
The Miami Hurricanes tied a school record Saturday, hitting 15 3-pointers – 13 of their first 19 – en route to an 87–61 bludgeoning of North Carolina. The Canes have won 11 straight, are 19-3 and 10-0 in the ACC. They are playing so well that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade decided to attend the game (before putting on their own show on Sunday against the Lakers).
Baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin’s son Shane, who made five of the 3-pointers and threw up this sick off-the-glass pass to Kenny Kadji, had this to say of LeBron and Wade being at the game:
“It was definitely a fun thing to have them come to a game,” Larkin said. “It’s a great feeling knowing people at that level are realizing what you’re doing.”
Miami is poised to land a top seed in next month’s NCAA tournament. Not a bad second year in South Beach, Jim Larranaga.

Or in the Grove. I bet Larranaga never has to buy another level II painkiller again at Monty’s.

can we get hogan’s “legs” off the front page plz?
February 11th, 2013 at 5:32 PM
and wed all sit in the booth for two hours to make jokes.

I think Miami is a little bit of a paper tiger because in this run they haven’t beaten anyone other than Duke and maybe NC state that can match up with them in the backcourt. They could easily finish the ACC schedule at 16-2 while only facing 3 top 50 teams (Duke, NC state and North Carolina). They will be interesting in the second round of 32 (refuse to call it the third round) depending on the matchup they get. If they drawa Wichita State, UNLV or VCU in that round they are going to be in some trouble.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:34 PM
hogan’s legs! he knows how to screw em!
he never begs! cuz his friend’s wife blew him!
whatever…nobody bats 1.000
February 11th, 2013 at 5:34 PM

February 11th, 2013 at 5:35 PM
spence i saw hurt locker finally. being a militaryphile did you enjoy it?
February 11th, 2013 at 5:37 PM
it was aight. dont really dig military movies tho…too call of duty to be anything more than entertainment. i like my action to be meta and preposterous, like predator or commando or expendables 2.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:39 PM
or the one with real SEALs!!
February 11th, 2013 at 5:40 PM
Says this is where he wants to be, hope he means it.
Their frontcourt presents even more of a match-up problem with Kadji, Johnson and Gamble. Miami is for real, and if you don’t think so you haven’t been watching them. Of course they could bow out in the tourney, but it wno’t be because they aren’t a top team in the country this year. Their biggest downfall will most likely be dependence on the 3, specifically if they get down early and panic, no tourney experience on the whole roster.

act of valor? FUCK NO. that was seriously the most disappointing movie ive ever seen.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:41 PM
such an impressive year from Miami. seriously Final 4 potential, IMO. did not see this coming.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:42 PM
i mean for fuck’s sake…act of valor had like four action scenes and 75% of the movie were scenes of people who have no business acting, acting like it’s a fucking nicholas sparks joint.

Know someone who got UM 100:1 to win the title. Will be one of the better hedging opportunities I’ve heard
February 11th, 2013 at 5:42 PM
hoosiers vs. hoodlums? lets get the outrage machine started up!
February 11th, 2013 at 5:43 PM
No one did. No one knew Gamble was going to be this much of a factor coming off knee surgery or that Kadji would make the strides he has or that Larkin was going to own it once he got the starting PG spot and they moved Scott to SG.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:44 PM
The greatest action flick of all time is They Live. Because it contains the greatest action sequence of all time, namely me beating the snot out of Keith David in the alleyway.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:45 PM
i know spence. i consulted the spreadsheet

February 11th, 2013 at 5:47 PM
Last week I picked Stephen F. Austin as my first-round dark horse, and I’m sticking with them.
/ Also picked Houston to reach the Super Bowl
February 11th, 2013 at 5:49 PM
Hey, it took you four years to get around to Hurt Locker.
Been too busy watching craptastic SyFy movies, like this weekend’s Heebie Jeebies, about zombie ghost Chinese gold miners set in Louisiana.
As a Louisiana native, I had been previously unaware that Louisiana has a thriving gold mining industry.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:49 PM
i saw john carter on hbo because i heard you thought it was good…dude, that was hot garbage on a plate.
pssh.
1. predator
2. die hard
3. 13 assassins (yea, that’s right)
4. expendables 2 (yea, that’s right part 2, electric boogaloo)
5. the matrix

The Arrival.
“I feel like a can of smashed assholes.”
February 11th, 2013 at 5:53 PM
You had me until #4.
I watched The Running Man again the other day…a little dated now (It takes place in 2017!). The Hunger Games fucked up the possibility of a remake.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:53 PM
6yo is on a The Thing kick, so I bought both after we got the second one at the library. soon he will be on a carpenter kick
February 11th, 2013 at 5:54 PM
Gotta go, gents, time to lay an ass-kicking on all those Keith Davids out there.
/ Fuck Andrea and especially Ghost Lori, that horrid cunt
// Now channeling soused
February 11th, 2013 at 5:55 PM
The Hunger Games is just an inferior ripoff of the awesome Battle Royale.
/ Really, I’m leaving now
February 11th, 2013 at 5:57 PM
battle royale was fucking phenomenal. 5 minutes in and i already had it in my top 10.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:00 PM
I watched almost all of Miami’s ACC games. I didn’t say they would lose because they aren’t a top team, I’m saying those 3 specific teams which are all in that 7-10 range will provide issues for Miami which I they will have problems handling. Mainly they can pressure the ball in a way Miami has not had to face in the ACC. I really like Larkin and like their lineup when Johnson gets into the game, but what happens when teams have lockdown guard play? How does Scott get his points? I think that’s when it’ll get interesting for them. Every team in the top 10 has a serious set of issues (Syracuse lack of inside scoring, Indiana’s defense, Florida’s depth, Michigan State’s scoring punch, Gonzaga not facing anyone) but I think their ones could be enhanced by playing a group of poo poo teams in the ACC. Just wish they were getting a bit more tested by higher quality teams. Not their fault, but just the reality. Gonzaga is in the same boat. And to an extent so is Duke, but without Kelly they look like a different team altogether.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:00 PM
What do you make of Snedeker, spencer? Amazing how well he scores despite his ball striking. I like him for fast play alone. Like to see fast players win, hopefully it’ll lead to a trend
February 11th, 2013 at 6:05 PM
Well of course, a big part of who will advance in the tourney will depend on the match-ups. Like I said I think their biggest problem is shot selection and patience. Their defense and rebounding have been strong. You play those two well, you always have a shot in the tourney.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:07 PM
in 2012 he was 11th in proximity from 75-100, 26th from 100-125, 47th from 150-175 and 15th from 250-275. just think about that…he’s fairly money in the “birdie zone” and pretty damn good on going for par 5′s. when you combine that with his putter (1st in strokes gained), no wonder he does so well.
he’s one of my favorite players on tour…not only is he a HELLUVA player, he plays super fast, is down to earth and, from all accounts, one of the highest quality people out there. i think he’s fucking great.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:11 PM
i hope youre right on fast play becoming a trend…bubba, fowler and sneds are all super fast. then you see guys like webb simpson have a god damned heart-to-heart with their caddies and that hope dissipates quickly.
doesnt matter how many fast players there are out there, the slow ones are still fucking everything up.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:12 PM
i forget what tourney it was, but it was hella windy and ian poulter mustve been taking two minutes per shot. johnny miller was ripping him apart.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:19 PM
I’m surprised by some of those proximity numbers. Great wedge player, and apparently good with fairway woods. He seems to have a lot of mishits for a top player, but he has to be the best putter in the world. Who is even close? Stricker?
I think the Masters is his best shot at a major. You?
February 11th, 2013 at 6:21 PM
He is the fuckin man. Plain and simple.
It’s before my time, but my uncle has always blamed Jack Nicklaus for the slow play epidemic. I have no clue if it is true, but an interesting theory
February 11th, 2013 at 6:29 PM
I’ve heard that Simpson leans on his caddy like no other. Like he is a robot who is only there to execute exactly what the caddy advises
February 11th, 2013 at 6:35 PM
nicklaus is largely to blame for the slow play epidemic. faldo’s another. seve too.
webb leans on tesori like crazy, but it’s worked extremely well. tesori’s one of the best caddies on tour (vijay) and webb was a no-namer that needed guidance. it’s been a great partnership, but it’s annoying watching them chat for a few minutes before every shot.
sneds might have nice proximity numbers, but i think calling him a great wedge player isn’t quite right. despite being one of the best putters on tour, he’s not great around the greens. he’s ok out of the sand, but is a pretty shitty chipper.
i dont think he’s BY FAR the best putter on tour, but he’s definitely in that elite class. i think luke donald’s the best putter on tour personally, but id put sneds, stricker, brian gay, zach johnson, aaron baddely, ben curtis, ian poulter and greg supernintendo chalmers right there with donald. you cant really go wrong with any of em…or phil when phil’s on FIRE.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:40 PM
tiger used to be the best putter of all time tho.
ben crenshaw, george archer, arnold palmer, jack, faldo, brad faxon, kenny knox, dave stockton, loren roberts, bobby locke, george low and billy casper come to mind as all time greats too.
February 11th, 2013 at 6:46 PM
Casper gets lost in the shuffle as a great overall player. Dude has a massive course management company too. I play one of his courses, Wintonbury Hills in CT, occasionally. OK layout, but always in terrific condition
Rory reminds me of Phil as a streak/confidence putter
February 11th, 2013 at 6:54 PM
yup. in fact, stylistically, i see them as remarkably similar. both are preposterously long, take on some of the riskiest shots that make you go “wtf?” yet pull their asses out of the fire more often than pretty much anyone else out there. rory’s driving is as strong as phil’s shortgame (and phil’s driving is as hot/cold as rory’s wedges), they both are excellent with their irons and, like you said, streaky putters that often implode.
it’s the phil-like brainfarts that worry me about rory…that’s a habit which is extremely hard to break when you’re that talented.
February 11th, 2013 at 7:06 PM
golf talk?
/slits wrists
February 11th, 2013 at 7:21 PM
Don’t fight it AP. Just give in, golf is great. It’ll give your unemployed ass (think that’s you…*checks spreadsheet*) something to do. Not going to be many other sporting options when you’re older anyway
February 11th, 2013 at 7:23 PM
I watch golf now and then. I just make fun of all the golf talk here. I can’t golf to save my life. Driving range I’m okay. everything else? I’m better on the Tiger Woods golf game than I am in real life.
For playing, i’m a racquetball and tennis guy
February 12th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
I’m a Canes fan so I’m biased, but having watched them play this year, especially as of late, they are a really, really complete team, and a damn good one. They play great defense, have tons of size and athletic ability down low, they can score inside, they can definitely score outside, and they have a great point guard that is very tough to keep out of the lane and has a ton of options to dish to. Really, really impressive team. Larkin is easily one of the best point guards I’ve watched this year. Dude makes it look effortless out there.
