Len is being criminally misused by Mark Turgeon.

Not entirely. Having been to or watched every game this season, he’s just not as good as people think he is, or he should be. The ability is there, but he checks out and gets pushed around by players half his size and ability.

But the real culprit is the complete lack of a PG, which is part of what leads to our insane amount of TOs. The other part is just being reckless and turnover-prone, but not having a distributor is incredibly frustrating and leading to guys playing out of position. The talent level for the Terps is there, but barring a huge run (and beating Duke), it’s maybe to the NIT for us.

Turgeron is a terrible coach. Good recruiter, terrible Xs and Os guy. His team is getting worse, not better. There’s no one in the country who can stop Len, yet he touches the ball half as much as he should. It’s depressing watching this group fart their way around a court. No PG play, dumb offense, terrible shot selection, bad overall look.

Why are they coming to the Big 10 again?

Agree wholeheartedly. I am glad he is failing because his name is always mentioned as a potential successor to Self when Self leaves. And Turgeon is a whiny brat.

The main problem for Len is that they are doing a terrible job of feeding him the ball. The entry passes have been horrific since the start of ACC play. He also should be blamed because when he does get the ball in the post he is usually doubled or tripled immediately but he tries to shoot instead of kicking it out to a shooter.

I am almost praying that this team absolutely collapses down the stretch and Len’s draft stock plummets so much that he stays one more year.

If you think Indiana runs a weird offense that occasionally results in Cody Zeller not getting shots, you’d lose your mind watching with the way Len is used. He’s a 12-8 guy right now, but it should be closer to 18-10 like Mason Plumlee. How is Len only playing 26 minutes a game? How is he only getting 8.9 shots a game? And taking 4.1 free throws a night? Get him the ball down low, and let the 7-footer go to work.

This is modern college basketball. When was the last time a true big was properly used? Roy Hibbert?

It is a guard-dominated game – for numerous reasons – and this generally has caused the big man to be marginalized, unless you have a particularly good coach, or transcendant big man.

How is Len only playing 26 minutes a game?

I assumed perhaps foul trouble was the answer. But in looking at his game log, he’s only ended up with 4 fouls twice (17 mins. in each game) and fouled out of two others (30 mins. and 26 mins.)

Ironically the same things Duke fans were saying about Plumlee last season (averaged 11/9). Maybe he just needs another year.
