We are two weeks away from UFC 157. Everyone already knows that Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche will face off in what will be the first female fight in UFC history. While everyone is focusing on Rousey, most people don’t know is that Liz Carmouche, who spent five years in the Marine Corps and served three tours of duty in the Middle East, will become the first openly gay fighter to step inside the Octagon.

In the final portion of the episode, Rousey tells the story of her father’s suicide following a horrible accident. Through tears Rousey admits feeling like she is using her father’s story to further her own narrative.

“People love to ask me about it all the time because doesn’t it make a great story? I feel terrible talking about it. I feel like I’m prostituting his memory for my own career gain, and it makes me feel like a fucking asshole.”

Its a real, emotional, self-aware admission from someone who has marketed herself incredibly well over the last two years.
