So you think a hack writer agrees with you? Someone whose “Verducci effect” has been disproven over and over by the intelligent baseball community. Keep jumping to conclusions there…

Found out this AM that Heritage Auction Gallery here in Dallas will be auctioning off the cleats Johnny Fucking Football wore in the win against Alabama.
The most shocking part of the story? They’re size 15 shoes.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
Same here, Miz. I love me some penguins.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:43 AM
i feel things like this are part of the reason we’re seeing more and more gun violence. i know you can’t just bury your head in the sand and ignore it, but it’s one of those things that doesn’t need to be shared saying MUST READ or REALLY GREAT READ. it’s about a fucking mass shooting…read it in privacy, reflect on the importance of life, and make others lives better. but saying “best story ive read” is a callous remark that makes me wonder if you a) even read the article and b) understood what you were reading.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
I took way too many pictures of the penguins at the resort I was at in Hawaii for my honeymoon.

had no idea Verducci was considered a “hack.” Which baseball writers are considered the non-hacks?
February 8th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
I don’t want to read about mass murder on Friday. Let’s talk instead about the zany shit Bill Fucking Murray did at Pebble.

As much as I loved the Penguins dismantling the Caps last night. It is kinda sad how far off the cliff that team has fallen. Should have never fired Bruce Boudreau.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:47 AM
He has huge feet for someone who’s 6-0. I remember writers mentioning that while overlooking LSU and Florida whipping his ass.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:47 AM

February 8th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
i don’t think you read it. from the writing to the reporting to the actual story itself … it really is a tremendous story. moving. the kind of story you read and it sits with you for awhile.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
Verducci was one of the few writers who was warning about the steroid scandal, still was complicit in covering it up pre-1998 (like every other writer)
I consider his more shrillness lately to move him into hack territory. He joins Heyman, Morosi, Chass, Caple, Donnellon and many other local writers I couldn’t name.
Non-hacks: Rosenthal, Jaffe, Neyer, Perrotto, most of the writers at BP & Fangraphs
February 8th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
It’s OK, he’ll get another crack at LSU this coming year if they can pry him away from Nicholson seats at NBA games.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Rankings are more right than wrong, that’s for sure. For every “check out this 2-star who made it big” article, I can find 30 “this cat was a 4-star or better and made it big” pieces. But one thing needs to be said: look at offers more than stars. Generally the higher the stars, the better the offers, but that’s not always the case. The 3-star kid with Bama, UGA, Oregon and OSU offers is probably a stud.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
How soon they forget the immortal Leo Rautins.
Cory Joseph? Tristan Thompson?
February 8th, 2013 at 8:51 AM
And they say Big Ten coaches cannot recruit!!!
February 8th, 2013 at 8:52 AM
He’ll also get LSU without any defensive players apparently. Still can’t get over that mass exodus.
Not a member of said community, but I applaud their efforts. Not easy in their profession.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:53 AM
Every non-anecdotal, mathematical look into the recruiting rankings (football and basketball) shows that they are far from “meaningless”.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:53 AM
Are we getting a “Meyer once again proves he’s a massive prick” piece? Because we should.
Herban: “Hey guys, y’all might want to recruit better.”
B10 coaches: “Hey dickface, it’s not like we’re trying, but you get a kid to come to Lincoln/Evanston/Purdue/East Lansing over Florida and call me back. Douche.”
February 8th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
This Christopher Dorner thing is mucho fucked up. Skimming through his manifesto now.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:55 AM
I so wish they were still tearing the shit apart out of the awful baseball writing out there instead of writing Parks and Rec.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:55 AM
Everyone who says they’re meaningless generally come from fans whose team doesn’t do well in that arena. MICH fans were claiming “system” is more important than stars. Now that Hoke is getting results, all of a sudden recruiting matters!!!
February 8th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
Didn’t the Yanks cut Verducci off?
February 8th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
I hope Urban tells Dantonio to recruit harder and better.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
nice thigh
February 8th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
The B10 has two kickass schools/towns/coaches and both schools are recruiting well. Not shocking. It’s a tougher sell to a smaller group of players.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
What Husker said in #31
February 8th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
Big 10 has great schools and college towns – Columbus and AA aren’t even the top. Madison, State College, Bloomington and Lincoln are some of the tops in the country. And this isn’t including Minneapolis. It’s mostly the coaches – they by and large stink. That’s changing, and credit Urban for making that happen.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
Richard Dietsch has at least 15 INCREDIBLE MUST READ articles to share every single friggin day on Twitter
February 8th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
I dunno, Parks & Rec is pretty great…bad sportswriting will still be there when that show’s finished its run
February 8th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
The UCLA buzzer beater post has a teaser of “Like father, like son.” And now I have the Goof Troop theme in my head.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
The sliminess of Herban is just too rich. Publicly he says the B10 needs to recruit better all while telling kids you can’t win in the B10 unless you come to Ohio State because those other teams/coaches suck compared to us. There isn’t a phonier person is all of college football.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
The combo of the school/town/coach. Not each item individually.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
I know, what i’m saying is the Big 10 has the first two in spades, but has been lacking the third.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
They do, the conference cannot be comprised of just two good teams, a few so-so and then a bunch of shit
February 8th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
True on both accounts.
Urban speak for “Just lie to em guys, whats the big deal?”
February 8th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
Oklahoma won several national titles doing this. Nebraska did, too. If OSU goes 13-0 with herban coaching them they’ll be just fine. It’s if they go 12-1 where they might have an issue, especially next year with that shitshow of a schedule. Ohio State better hope MICH and NEB are really good.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
More like, “just tell ‘em God wants them to play here, and that you’ll let them get high ALL OF THE TIME.”

This is a new one – city workers in Tel Aviv decide to paint a handicapped parking space around a parked car. Then, they towed it. The car owner found this video and won in court.
They did this in Running Scared, an mid 80′s movie with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines took on druglord Jimmy Smits.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
Touche.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
I’m not expecting OSU to go undefeated every year in the Urban era, and in the 1 loss example there would be a problem with reaching the title game.
I expect tSUN to continue to get much better (especially with that beast OL and RB combo hoke was able to bring in). Nebraska to a lesser extent. Wisconsin needs to be there too.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Love. Love socks.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
NEB should be really, really good on offense next year. Normally you’d think that would pair well with a coach who has a great defensive background, but apparently Pelini forgot how to stop air sometime between the time Suh left and last year.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
If the rankings are so wrong, give me all the 5-stars and you take all the 3-stars and let’s play for your life savings.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Exactly.

February 8th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
This is my favorite part of the Draft too, people like to mock NFL GMs when an undrafted guy turns out to be a star but let me make a team of first-rounders and give you the field…I like my chances
February 8th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Talk about reasonable. I’m sure his heart will be less stressed now.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
That has nothing to do with me calling Urban a sleaze. I mean…he definitely fits that mold perfectly. Saban knows full well he’s a prick. It’s almost refreshing. Meyer wants the world to think he’s not. It’s disgusting.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Let’s talk instead about the zany shit Bill Fucking Murray did at Pebble.
Agreed.

February 8th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Maybe if Richt just prayed harder, he’d have a tackle.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
I was responding to husker saying a 13-0 record would give OSU a champ game birth regardless of conference (perceived) strength. Undefeated seasons are very rare in CFB and most likely a team will have a loss, hence the need for a strong conference
February 8th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
Fucking recruiting.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
Did Bo Pelini lose another recruit today? Oh noes! Urban’s a scumbag! WAH WAH WAH. What a phony! Duuur duuuuur! Mark Richt!
February 8th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Well he as a pretty good one now, but perhaps he’d have two of them. Though praying wouldn’t have helped. He would have had to open up the checkbook for Tunsil’s
cuntgirlfriend.February 8th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
for the stat-heads: Charting 3-point rebounds
One thing I begrudgingly give Duke credit for, is they execute really well off odd caroms for 3-pointers. They kick out for another 3 or a whipped pass into the post. They will sell out their backcourt to get these rebounds on missed 3′s b/c they feel the odds of scoring off the rebound are excellent. Watch this if you suffer through a Duke game.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Played MPCC yesterday…went into some rich people’s house univited (while the pros were teeing off)…came out with a bowl of chili and some cornbread.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Not that I know of. I also love how sensitive OSU fans are to Meyer criticisms. That’s why Spencer rules the day for Buckeye fans. He understands he’s a douche, but he’s OSU’s douche and that’s okay.

That’s a winner. As long as you didn’t have a late night meeting with that chili.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
There was a 2 minute stretch in 4th quarter where he had like 3 turnovers. Reading all the articles, he still is affected by what others think of him. He genuinely wants everyone to like him, and gets all flustered when that doesn’t happen. That’s a horrible characteristic to have if you are a pro athlete.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
You mean for the next 4 years until Meyer quits on another team or his heart explodes?
February 8th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
Say whatever you want, just come up with some new material. As long as he wins, that’s all that matters.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
Maybe if Richt just prayed harder, he’d have a tackle.
He forgot to thump his bible wednesday morning!
February 8th, 2013 at 9:37 AM
I can take them just fine. I’m well aware my childhood team is coached by a moron and my Alma mater has one who’s more into jesus than football. Still think UGA plays for the natty this year, though. Even with the brutal schedule.

I went to a game at Igloo final season I think we just parked at one of the hotels b/c there was so little parking in that area.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
Probably so. I would think the odds of OSU winning would much better than either NEB or UGA. That’s what will make OSU not winning one with Meyer that awesome.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
The year Mario came out of retirement, man I really wanted them to make a run at the Cup that year. That was a fun team to watch they were skating like mad. Jagr got his head out of his ass for a few months.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
And while Michigan fans seem very hight and mighty, the thought of them winning a title before OSU is just fantastic.

February 8th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
To be fair, Georgia was only one loss and 3rd and 8 (with 13 less scholarship players) from an undefeated season, too.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
You and Ritty can talk undefeated, yet unrewarded seasons all day. I think AUB has two undefeated seasons since 1992 that went title-less. They’ll always have Cam, though (dammit).
February 8th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
I’ve got a Jostens guy who can commemorate that.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
Not undefeated. SoCar smoked them earlier in the year.
February 8th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
They couldn’t make it to the natty game with the easy schedule they had the past two seasons. So Grantham is interviewing with Nawlins. You think he leaves?
February 8th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
ONe loss=SC; 3rd and 8=Bama
February 8th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
Their offense is going to be loaded, and I’m convinced their defense will be no worse this year. They’re loaded with talent, it’s just young. And let’s be honest, Clemson is Clemson and LSU is losing half of it’s team, but still has Derpy McRapeHands at QB.
As for Grantham, I think Rob Ryan is getting that job, but he isn’t long for the NFL. I think this will be his last year in Athens. He’s on too many NFL radar screens to stay in the college game much longer.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
That sucks…the game is on St. Patrick’s day so maybe that’ll add to the crowd
February 8th, 2013 at 10:03 AM

And Aaron Murray is clutch, so they’ve got that goin’ for them. Which is nice.

Man last year the first round of the tourney was here and I got tickets for the weekend games to see Syracuse, that was on St Patricks day, whatever you do do not drive on the south side of the city or you will hit a college kid. Granted it’s a Sunday this year so hopefully those amateur drinking cocksuckers will celebrate that stupid holiday (sup careerhigh) on Saturday.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Its an indoor stadium. Dumbest name for a sporting venue. So much for the wolf…pack winning the ACC.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:08 AM
Finally….If you have to suffer through his homer-riffic crap every day you’d celebrate too….Duke or Carolina could field a men’s basketball team of 5’11 walk on’s and he’d still pick them to finish 1 and 2 in the ACC.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
Tech and Clemson would still finish last.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
Yes, I am that guy.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
This is true. They have a terrible history of this. Just have to hope it doesn’t happen this year. Though I’m always more worried about some idiot kid getting pinched for weed or a DUI or some shit like that.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
I know you think he’s average. That’s one small reason why I can’t wait for this year when he goes off.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Michigan’s doing a great job of buidling a team that will dominate the Big 10. OSU is doing a great job of building a team that destroys teams that dominate the Big 10.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
I can watch the JLH video all day
February 8th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Thanks for the Wolters link, seen him live many times wish I could have seen this performance.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Just about every UNC/NCState/Duke fan in the triangle thinks that the local media is biased against their team.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
I’d imagine there would be a pretty big crowd for St. Patrick’s regardless of the day
February 8th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
Not sure I agree with that. MICH has stockpiled great OL and have a stud QB and RB in place. They also have what appears to be a very good DC. The MICH-OSU games will be awesome for the next few years.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
Then you hate everyone
February 8th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
That’s one small reason why I can’t wait for this year when he goes off.
Let’s just say it’s too evident that he’s piled up great numbers against crappy defenses. And sucked against anything more than an average defense.
I will say, he wasn’t as crapatastic against bama as I thought he would be. But I’ve always contended that bama’s dbs are average – the defensive front 7 make their D.
Just make a play. Once. Just once, and I’ll change my tune.
David Green – who I thought was one of the best leaders/college football players I ever watched – I would have loved to see him as the QB for the last 2 uga teams.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:21 AM

He was good against Bama last year and lit up a pretty damn good secondary in the bowl game. I agree with you for the most part, though. But the trend is pointing up, not down for him.
If Shockley didn’t rip his ACL before coming to camp UGA would have played for a natty and no one would have ever known who Greene was.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Gardner?
February 8th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
You’re not nineteen though.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Morris.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
If Shockley didn’t rip his ACL before coming to camp UGA would have played for a natty and no one would have ever known who Greene was.
Not sure I agree with this. Not sure Richt/Bobo would know what to do with Shockley.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
Gonna need to find the 40 pounds and arm strength he lost to mono. Gardner’s the QB of the next 2 years in AA.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
You sure have uga playing for a lot of mythical natty’s. Are you sure you really didn’t attend bama for at least a year or two by mistake?
February 8th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
Interesting take seeing as how they won a SEC title with him.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
That skateboarding video reminds me of the old Tony Hawk video game. That was sweet!
February 8th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
Suspend him for the SC game?
/rimshot
February 8th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
Dude…Shockley was that good. But once he had to redshirt and Greene kept winning you couldn’t bench him. Just one of those things.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
You’re such a hypocrite
February 8th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
Gardner looked good in his starts. I’d be more worried about him than some high school kid.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
So that was also the year they won the NC, right? Oh…
February 8th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
I never got into that game, but holy shit did my friends love it.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:30 AM
Nope. It was the year Greene went 13-1. They might have been “Auburn’d” that year though as OSU also went 12-0 and Miami was never getting bounced.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
This. He was recruited for richrod’s offense so he can run, and he’s got a great arm.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
14-0, buddy.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:33 AM
Ok.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:35 AM
I’m not talking about Morris playing this year. I’m talking about him going forward. It’s the perfect setup though. Let Morris redshirt while Gardner plays and then have Morris take over next year. If they want to get him game action rather than RS that works too. Hoke is doing it right at Mich. Would be nice to see Pelini recruit like he gives a fuck.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:41 AM
hey…ALL IN, amirite?
February 8th, 2013 at 10:43 AM
spencer I presume you are doing the tanglewood deal
February 8th, 2013 at 10:43 AM
Garner got (or is getting) a 6th year of eligibility- that pushes Morriss to 2015. Overall , not a bad thing, but he’ll have competition, also a good thing. UM is very reliant defensively on Mattison’s scheme but they don’t have the defensive talent that OSU has. OSU’s starting OL measures up to UMs, but depth is the issue. That’ll be fixed in 2014. I’m looking forward to the rivalry being renewed.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
Then I’d definitely RS Morris.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
i am. i can play 50% more rounds for 2/3 the cost plus practice. if im gonna play in tourneys in 2014, im going to need to play at least 150 rounds this year.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:52 AM
did they build a practice area or range? I’m familar with the quirkiest practice green in the county but didnt know of a range there, where is it at
that is a great deal, wish I was 10 years younger and no kids, I’d live there. thats awesome.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
They may have the most honest course photos i’ve ever seen. Leaves everywhere? Check. Ball marks on the green? Check. Sticks laying in the rough? Check.
It’s cctually refreshing.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:57 AM
my only real gripe is about the course is the lack of an intermediate cut of rough. Oh, your ball is one inch off the fairway, enjoy it being 5 inches down in the thickest rough outside a US Open venue. Just too much time looking for balls where you know exactly where you hit it.
I really like the course though and it’s been a good deal of late. I avoided it last year, not the place to test a swing you are re-tooling.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:58 AM
the “range” is behind the parking long parallel to no. 1.
ive been going there since they re-opened, and while the conditions aren’t ANYWHERE near a CC, they’ve gotten much, much better. and the course has some of the greatest shot values in the area. i absolutely love the place…and you can’t beat that deal for unlimited.
February 8th, 2013 at 10:59 AM
ive played rounds there where i didnt miss a shot from the back tees and still shot 80-82. it’s an exceptional test, if you can deal with C+ conditions.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:00 AM
Course looks very interesting – love the elevation changes. See your point on the rough. It looks like they cut it maybe once a week. Probably good for mother nature, but it looked shaggy.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:01 AM
how can you complain about the rough there? forget the rough…if you’re like 5 feet off the fairway, youre usually in the fucking trees.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:04 AM
lol…going thru the photo gallery, hole 6 is hysterical. the way they stagger the tees, that pic they show is your landing spot unless you like blind 220 yard approach shots. you probably have 15 paces between trees, that bunker on the right and if youre too much on the left, the trees block your approach.
one fo the hardest driving holes i can think of.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:05 AM
Please don’t take it that i’m knocking it. Looks like an interesting, challenging course. I’ve been to some places (Black Diamond in Holmes county, for one, and some other places in Florida) that look immaculate on the web, then when you get there, not so much.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:07 AM
oh, i didnt think you were knocking it, im just a huge fan. i play a lot, so always go with value, and the past few years, it’s become my home course. ive become friendly with the owners and management and they’ve made some really nice improvements.
and youre dead on about “false advertising” w golf. i dont really care about conditions unless they’re HORRIBLE, but there are some places ive dropped $50+ on that have been dog tracks. inexcuseable.
tanglewood’s had some shitty conditions, but you always had the shot values. cant say that about a lot of courses unfortuantely.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
/Wishes I had a decent course near me
//These aren’t getting it done.
///Kicks rock
February 8th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
yeah its a good course; they at least have been historically been honest about it being a tough track, they’ve been bought-resold a few times the past 6 year; Proper maintenance will make it a gem. it’s just been haggard. A big thing was the year it got the least maintenance was also the year with the most rainfall, it got away from them; between playing there and at mayfield I am learning that I gotta hit more fairways for sure.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:16 AM
I’ve had to go back and recall hole 6. That is a brutal hole where as you note, the trees are claustrophic, thick, merciless. If I went 6i, 6i, wedge I’d do better. it is brutal off the tee.
On that green, check where the drainage is. if you are on the lower right, the break is completely different than how it looks to the eye. it’s one of the most deceiving putts locally.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:19 AM
i totally forgot about this…youre dead on. i cant tell you how many chips ive hit from there where i hit em perfectly but never remembered teh slope and was pissed that my ball never snuggled up.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:20 AM
scripty…or what about 10 (formerly 1…the par 5 with the lake)? you couldve hit a HUGE drive, but if you’re on any part of the left side of the fairway, you can’t hit the green in 2 and have to hit SW-SW. the fuck! ive been in better spots hitting a weak slice in front of the lake and being able to blast a hybrid to the green.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:21 AM
Let’s shoot for a date in May for a match out there, I’ll drag my buddy he can blast away from the blues with you.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:22 AM
oof…i feel for ya bro. you must be too far away from foxfire and eaglesticks im taking it?
February 8th, 2013 at 11:23 AM
fsho…ill grab a buddy too and we’ll do best-ball or something.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:25 AM
The past few years, I liked going driver, 8, wedge in. There is a little pot bunker there on the right that gets me if I go with my 4w off the tee. and the 230 elevated is too far for me to get home in 2.
I admit, I pussy it around there a bit on some of the tough par 4′s and hole #2 is the only par 5 I think about getting there in two. just going long and the rough is way too penal there to be bombing away.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:28 AM
I’m in the city just north of OSU. Anything reasonable outside 270 takes a while to get to. I do Foxfire a couple times a year, for an outing in july and in the fall. End up playing both courses in the fall for $50.
I’ll do Cook’s Creek and Longaberger in the spring when rates aren’t killer. Then a couple round at Granville with the BiL (great course – old Donald Ross design). Other than that, it’s city courses for me.
/sad face
February 8th, 2013 at 11:29 AM
dude, i can’t hate on playing it conservative there. on 18, when i play from the back, i almost always treat it as a 3 shotter unless i can catch the slot in the FW and get it on that first tier. even then, you’re still hitting a shot into an elevated green with a 2h/3i where the ball’s a good foot below your feet. no thanks. driver-8i-full 60* and hope i can make a ptt. 5′s a great score there.
funny you go for it on 2…i always lay up there. it’s easier to get a full short iron close than it is to get a 50-foot putt on that green. and any greenside shot from long or short of the green is fuck city yo.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:30 AM
ive haerd good things about both, esp longaberger. im ashamed to say i havent made it there yet even tho last year, their offseason rates were INSANELY low.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:30 AM
fsho…ill grab a buddy too and we’ll do best-ball or something.
I’m excited for the year, I’ve done very little swing work at ranges but have been putting a little. I made a slight adjustment in how far I stand from the ball on my putts, moving a bit further away on long ones and this has freed me up; so now I just stand closer on the 4-8 footers and a bit further on the 30-footers. odd I know but mechancially i am doing the same things and results are there (on my carpet anyway).
I also saw a thing about Dustin Johnson keeping his right knee slightly bent and it keeps him from getting out of his base. I did some of that and immediately found it keeps me set up wonderfully. Like I’ve said, addressing some of the big things last year has freed me up to focus on the scoring stuff. I ended around 13.5 so I’d like to get that 9 so I can threaten 80 every round. We’ll see. Not having the major rebuild is a load of my mind. I have a lot of confidence.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:34 AM
scripty…you ever been fit for a putter? might be worth it…might help you find a lil consistenccy, but if it’s working for you, i cant really hate on it.
hogan said something about the right knee too…he said you can tell a great player when the right knee looks like it’s not really moving, or something along those lines.
not having to do a swing rehaul is fucking great…im pretty jealous, cuz im in the middle of one and the full swing’s not been fun, even tho the good shots are so much better. i think once the season starts and i can practice on turf instead of mats, it’ll come back tho.

February 8th, 2013 at 11:39 AM
shut it…shouldnt you be hiking on the blow cheap men trail anyways?
February 8th, 2013 at 11:40 AM
I don’t know what that means but I bet you’re high.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:41 AM
well I had the tp mills where I made everything from 9 feet in and sucked at lag putting; then I had this normal face-balanecd maxfli, that I was average at both lag putting and short putts; now I have the Odyssety 2-ball where I am doing well with lags and leaving short tap ins, but haven’t dialed it on the 4-10 footers they way I should be capable of. But I only got that around Aug-Sept so I am not worried yet.
It could very well be just a matter of practice. And I think I might have been leaving the face slightly open at address. But putting long practice putts and seeing the line turn over on a string has been rewarding.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:42 AM
I will say this – if you want to do a cheap, and I mean cheap – guy’s weekend of golf (read: drunk), go to Black Diamond. It’s $110/night for all-you-can golf + lodging. It’s also BYOB, which really cuts down costs.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:42 AM
im going to blow your mind dude…CARRY THREE PUTTERS. 11 clubs, 3 putters, mawney.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:43 AM
ive heard a lot of bad things about black diamond…that’s a good deal tho.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:45 AM
im going to blow your mind dude…CARRY THREE PUTTERS. 11 clubs, 3 putters, mawney.
I honestly think I could see Phil do 2 putters in a round. Or a senior guy.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:46 AM
sergio and calc have both done 2 putters before…makes a lotta sense if you dont need a 3w/5w/3i on a particular course.
February 8th, 2013 at 11:47 AM
I’d never pay for a round there, but for a weekend of drinking and golfing (drinkning comes first), you really can’t beat it.

well since the eyeball story ran in yesterday ru too, i’ll repeat my comment from yesterday:
eyeball falls out, causes mistrial
spent almost a year in england when i was 7/8 years old and went to school there. one teacher had a glass eye, and to prove a point about throwing shit in the coat area, he pops out the eye, saying he lost the eye because of some coatroom horseplay
