Paterno Family Releasing Response to the Freeh Report on Sunday
The Paterno family will present the 180 page counter report to the Freeh report. The counter report will be discussed on ESPN’s Outside The Lines this Sunday morning.
The family attorney, Wick Sollers, began assembling a team of experts specifically to counter the various points raised in the report last August, so you know that they were operating objectively and viewing the information with an open mind. From Sue Paterno:
“When the Freeh report was released last July, I was as shocked as anyone by the findings and by Mr. Freeh’s extraordinary attack on Joe’s character and integrity. I did not recognize the man Mr. Freeh described. I am here to tell you as definitively and forcefully as I know how that Mr. Freeh could not have been more wrong in his assessment of Joe.”
. . . This cannot happen. The Freeh report failed and if it is not challenged and corrected, nothing worthwhile will have come from these tragic events.”
It sounds like the motives are pure here, and this counter-report is only worried about making something worthwhile out of tragedy.

Hey, it’s not like Freeh said that Paterno was fucking those kids. Then again, maybe that’s what he got wrong.

Huh, Duffy must have lost power already.

This is like beating the container at the glue factory that the dead horse’s parts were shipped in.

The surprise finding? Sandusky didn’t fuck anyone. It was Joe doing all the happy-slapping in the Happy Valley showers.

OK, Paternos. Say you’re successful clearing the name of dear ol’ Coach. So what?
Seriously, are the Paternos worried about civil suits down the road? I don’t know any other reasons why someone would cobble together 180 pages of “it wasn’t his fault. Blame the other guy”.

Surprise finding No. 2: JoePa did not in fact shit his pants. He shit Joe Posnanski’s pants.

Pride. It’s not like they don’t have the money to spend on it. Nor are the lacking in the delusions necessary to think this might work.

Them releasing it on a Sunday is awesome. I bet they do it after Sunday brunch.

Well goddamn, Paterno family, it’s a good thing you’re showing up here to piss into the wind for a bit, since we all had either forgotten about or stopped caring about what Paterno did or did not know.

Franco Harris should read it aloud.

There’s a documentary called A Perfect Candidate about Oliver North running for senate in 1994. His opponent made some comment on a Sunday morning talk show or something. A reporter asked North about it later and he said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t hear that. I was at church.”
I know it doesn’t really sound like that was worth telling, but he was just such a smug asshole about it. That’s a pretty good documentary.

What he actually meant.

Exactly. They had their out. We all moved onto Sandy Hook, until Manti Te’o started having phone sex with a dude.

I’ll put as much stock in the Paterno report as I put in the Freeh report….not much. As the saying goes, there are two sides to every story and somewhere in between lies the truth.

Chuck Robb, if I recall.

I’m glad I’ve stopped caring about these stories many months ago.

My son who is 14, has to get a background check to umpire LL. Probably related somehow. What’s he going to do? Bugger a kid while 20 adults watch?
February 8th, 2013 at 5:39 PM
been waiting for this rebuttal for months!!!
February 8th, 2013 at 6:42 PM
Yeah this will be about as objective as the Freeh Report.

The Paternos are terrible people for continuing to attempt to clear their patriarch’s name for the record while the general public’s attention has been diverted elsewher.
