Nick Florence Decides Not To Try For NFL Draft, Will Get His MBA
Baylor quarterback Nick Florence will be going pro in something other than sports. After consulting with his wife (what is it with Big 12 quarterbacks getting married?), he has decided to stay in school and finish his MBA. He will not enter the NFL Draft.
“I’ve decided to hang up my cleats and finish my master’s in December,” Florence said. “My wife and I have spent the last 1 1/2 months talking about it, and it all came down to what we wanted in life, and it didn’t include playing football.”
Florence filled in finely for RG3 his senior season, amassing more than 4,800 total yards and 43 total touchdowns. He led all players not named Manziel in total yards per game. Undersized and inaccurate with deep balls, he was not a top-tier NFL prospect, though a very late round pick/free agent deal as an understudy in a read option offense might have been in play.
He expects to finish his degree in December, about the time the man will force him to shave that beard.

Props to him for not making a hasty decision, but I’m surprised that he would pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity to be on a NFL roster. Even free agent money will trump anything he will make in the “real world”. And that career will always be waiting for him down the road.

Well if he makes a roster… if he’s a PS guy, it’s not much. I get the head injury concerns, but man that’s tough to pass up. Hope he has some really good job prospects, or subscribes to the “marry a doctor and let her support you” plan*, because unemployment is a bitch.

Not just the Big XII, I remember Kellen Moore and Case Keenum at some college awards thing and they both had wives/fiancees

Not going to lie, I hate my job so much that if they ever asked who would take a voluntary layoff, I don’t know that I could keep myself from prison shanking any person who tried to put their hand up before me.

Surprised he not getting at least a look from nfl teams. Decent arm, accurate, mobile.

Mother Fucking Values and Morals, Bitch!
/Didn’t get married until I was 29.
Baylor is a Baptist school. Isn’t RGIII engaged? MP could expand further on this, but Waco/Baylor isn’t a traditional college hotbed of illicit activity that most college towns profit from. Tannehill went to aTm. Klein was homeschooled. Damn. You may have a point. That is a lot of outliers to support my nonsense.

Tim Tebow would love to know where that line starts.
