I know SC. I just believe the recruiting landscape has changed a bit recently. The game has changed. And other programs in the West are on the rise. USC will need a fantastic coach to bring it back. I doubt it’ll ever be as dominant as it was though.

Success! Vlad, I’m not comparing the west to the south. CA is as good a recruiting state as any though, and SC builds it’s base there. Then they add another five or so blue chippers from OR, WA, AZ, NV, CO, and a few more from the southeast, midwest, and northeast (something they have done very well for not being a “national” recruiter, like ND or Stanford)

Don’t compare California, AZ, NV and CO with the South players. Yes, a lot of extremely skilled players come from the West Coast. But the best of the best that go to the NFL on a more consistent come from the South.

Those schools ability to compete is strictly a function of SC being down. All are heavily dependent on CA recruiting. When SC is rolling, it chooses the top CA players, which is why I tout the recruiting base despite not being in the south (also SC has been able to snag some top defensive players from the south). Really, SC cherry picks the top players from AZ, NV, and CO, along with the west coast when it has a real coach

It’s not in the South. Stanford, UCLA and Oregon are competing! Won’t argue with the rest except for ability to dominate a conference.

I wouldn’t put it above Texas, Bama, OSU or maybe Florida

Texas is such a phenomenally overrated job. Too much competition in the SEC to stand out, and none of those schools has shown the ability to recruit nationally like SC.
