Agreed. Instead of a young MLSer emerging, pretty much all of them looked slow and so far removed from being capable of playing on the international level…let alone the CONCACAF level. Gonzalez is the only steady guy of the “next” crop of Americans. It’s really pathetic.

The Gold Cup with the B/C squad is going to be another shitshow.

I don’t blame Klinsmann. The talent is just not there.

I’m a huge apologist of Klinsmann and like a lot of what he has done thus far. They rotated a large number of younger players into the USMNT camps and have tested and exposed many candidates. He did this in prelim qualifying and did many of those games without their most veteran players. Any success in the next World Cup will be done on the backs of these young players. Yes, we expect solid and class performances from Bradley, Clint, Howard.

I won’t pretend to talk his tactics and strategies at the highest level but am willing to abide that the turnover would thwart immediate realization of his preferred style. Further, I didn’t see that glaring tactical gaffes (I could be wrong). As stated many times here I watch mostly USMNT and international play.

Umm, no, no he wouldn’t. That’s like saying he could coach the Irish national basketball team to championships.

Phil won because he got the most out of the best talent in his league at the time. There aren’t any Jordan/Pippen/Shaq/Kobe USA soccer players.

it’s too bad that the best coaches in this country all choose football or basketball. if Phil Jackson grew up coaching soccer, we’d have won eight World Cups by now!
