Shane Battier Had a Great Quote About His First Dunk in Four Years
Shane Battier hadn’t dunked in an NBA game in four years, so when he took this bounce pass from D-Wade, you can imagine his eyes lighting up at an open lane. Battier, 34, hung on the rim for good measure. Afterward, here’s what he had to say about the dunk:
Battier on the dunk: “That one is for all the suburban Dads out there. I might release a DVD of that.”
— Ethan J. Skolnick (@EthanJSkolnick) February 5, 2013
The Heat won, 99-94, and LeBron made 13-of-14 shots and finished with 31 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. They’re 31-14 and lead the Knicks by 1/2 game in the East.

And you wonder what soccer fans ever did to Fox.
February 5th, 2013 at 11:31 AM

These throwbacks the Heat have been wearing are phenomenal, by the way.
February 5th, 2013 at 11:40 AM
Easily the most surprising part of this is that Battier is only 34.
February 5th, 2013 at 11:42 AM
co-signed.
TJ: the good news, I suppose, is that he’ll have five years to prepare. of course, he had however many years to call basketball and still barely had a grasp on that. dammit, FOX.

he had however many years to call basketball and still barely had a grasp on that.
I guess he has job security for five more years. He was pretty awful at football as well.

Call me when Andre Miller does a dunk.
/recalls when he was booed for doing a layup on a breakawy in the rookies vs. sophs game.

awful choice. Does he have pictures of someone’s wife he is using for blackmail?

Missed the movie talk this morning.
Dredd was made much worse having to wait 30 seconds every time they decided to do some 3D effects. Also, having seen Raid: Redemption first, it paled.
Also saw someone recommended Elite Squad 2…I didn’t know there was a sequel, and it just hit the top of my queue. Gracias.

the American voice of soccer
Let that one sink in, soccer fans.
February 5th, 2013 at 11:49 AM
the 3D slo-mo is what took away from it for me.

The NBA was doing throwbacks to the 90s for I think every team last week, the Bucks should have opted out
February 5th, 2013 at 12:00 PM
For me, the NBA has gone by the wayside in my TV watching. Dirt was right. I just keep eliminating sports.
Pretty soon I’ll just watch when the Pats/Red Sox get a national game, and just spend Sundays doing chores around the house. Why didn’t anyone tell me getting old was such a bitch?
February 5th, 2013 at 12:02 PM
not sure getting old has to do with it!
February 5th, 2013 at 12:02 PM
LOL @ Bucks jerseys
Also at the St. Louis Blues sweaters someone was talking about last week.
February 5th, 2013 at 12:05 PM
So far I’ve only eliminated non-live sports stuff. I haven’t watched a pregame show in 5+ years, and I’d rather stab myself in the thigh than watch post game analysis.
I DVR a lot of live sports and stay off Twitter…put the kids to bed, eat dinner, and then I can watch an NBA game in about 45 minutes (free throws take about 45 seconds…fuck those).
February 5th, 2013 at 12:08 PM
the worst part is that he gets to call the Real Madrid/Man. United CL game…who needs Ian Darke or Martin Tyler? god that is going to be a trainwreck
February 5th, 2013 at 12:09 PM
I like how the cat is just lurking there menacingly at the bottom
February 5th, 2013 at 12:09 PM
Babar on twitter?
February 5th, 2013 at 12:10 PM
Is it just me or does Gus Johnson sound less than enthused about being the voice of soccer? Talking about all the travel, not calling games from the booth, not even thinking about the world cup at this point, etc. I understand he wants to manage expectation, but either he is intimidated or just doesn’t share the vision of his boss.
February 5th, 2013 at 12:11 PM
Well, that’s been gone a long time for me. I cancelled cable at one point because fuck Comcast, and stopped TV entirely.
Now I just have other things to do, and if it’s not a team I care about, I just won’t watch. It’d be different if I lived in market, but my only team I see a lot is the Preds.

Good gosh yes. It was getting bad early for them
February 5th, 2013 at 12:24 PM

No more long distance for me. Plus, after an hour of weights, 2 miles is typically my max.
February 5th, 2013 at 12:26 PM
No one is making you follow me
i admire your discipline
February 5th, 2013 at 12:28 PM
That’s presumptuous
This Gus Johnson thing needs a post. I honestly can’t believe it. I knew Fox would do a much worse job than ESPN, but this is unfathomable
That’s because you are a racist
/idiot’d
February 5th, 2013 at 12:29 PM
Actually, I wasn’t following you and you got sad and I had to start following you.
February 5th, 2013 at 12:35 PM
Actually, you followed me then unfollowed me then I asked what happened and you said you didn’t know what happened and you re-followed me.
