Heckuva job, Brownie!
February 5th, 2013 at 8:24 AM
Son woke up, SAYING “diaper change” around 250 am; didn’t get back to sleep until 415.
there. will. be. typos.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:25 AM
Why is diaper change in quotations? Is there more to that story? Did he wipe poo on the walls?
February 5th, 2013 at 8:27 AM
is that someone arm that the shark is about to maul?
February 5th, 2013 at 8:28 AM
What in the hell is that shark thing?

February 5th, 2013 at 8:30 AM
Sometimes it’s not so much a changing of a diaper, but rather a complete cleaning of the child.
Or, if the kid’s really young, he may have just decided he was on London time and was ready to rock and roll for a couple hours.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:31 AM
That picture of him is amazing. Love that guy.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:32 AM
More ammo to help me remember that I am not ready for kids.

Kai, straight outta Dogtown, has so little, he doesn’t even have a last name.
True. American. Hero.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:35 AM
more chores = less sex? …
Let me explain how you approach this. No matter how little chores you do, when the wife complains – you fly off the handle and explain that “you do more chores than any guy you know”. Then say that a few of your friends don’t do barely any. This will curb her from trying to throw to many more chores at you. Then you damn well keep her from your friends’ wives at parties, gatherings, etc.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:38 AM
It looks like a barracuda is hiding out wearing shark skin.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:38 AM
Sometimes it’s not so much a changing of a diaper, but rather a complete cleaning of the child.
Yep. There are times, washing out that outfit is hopeless. Just throw the shit-laden outfit in a bag, double-bag it, and throw outside with the garbage. And take the kid down to the utiltiy sink and do what’s necessary.
A parent of a young child can hold their breath for 2-3 minutes.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:38 AM
I cleaned the whole place the last two Saturdays(we hosted a fairly big super bowl party). I do not find the CBS report to be true.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:39 AM
That said, Scripty, you have a nice strategy.

I cut a onesie off my 1-yr old daughter last week. yes, it was a drastic measure, but she’s got a long headfull of hair and it was a necessary step.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
How self-aware of him. Well done.

February 5th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
This really made me laugh. My daughter is only 4 months so she is not notifying us. To think of a kid knowing he is overflowing a diaper and needs immediate assistance is a funny thought.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
Media critic didn’t like the performance by Phil Simms in the Super Bowl.
Most of us didn’t.

February 5th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
i think i can afford to play at one of those. there should be three categories…public, “public” and private.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:53 AM
!!!
February 5th, 2013 at 8:53 AM
Reports of the Horns’ death is greatly exaggerated. I’m still bullish.
We’ve taken some lumps lately in recruiting though. Nice pickup for Urban in Dontre Wilson yesterday. Urban doing well in Texas (J.D. Barrett also). A’Shawn going to Bama hurt a lot.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
Ranking the best public golf courses.
sees prices, goes back to playing cheap courses. I can pay that much and includes caddie & tip for my buddy at better private courses.

I guess I was having flashbacks to J.D. Barnett, the old VCU coach.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
re: best public golf courses…i love this.
it’s perfect in every way! either wait 18 months for a tee time or sleep in your car, walk 7 miles, shoot 100 with a “climactic finish” that might’ve featured one of the worst closing holes on a US Open course.
i cant hate too much seeing as bethpage is the only course in the top 10 where you don’t have to spend $200+ a night on a room just to play the course. public my ass…
February 5th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
can i give another mention of the following?
if you’re still watching, how good is this show?
3 episodes in, I’m hooked. very gory and at times scary and disturbing … I like it.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
I’ve never heard of this, which is odd
February 5th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
Someone else that thinks like the rest of us posters on here??? I’m shocked.
Didnt respond to the 1st play of the SB, where SF was called for an illegal formation and Douche Simms says “I saw that they were lined up illegally”. The why the hell didn’t you call it out then as it was happening? Anyone can play the hindsight is 20/20 card. Hell, I could do that.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
I’ve seen scarier things while watching Muppets.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
alternative headline: Media critic hears phil simms for the first time. Hates him like rest of country.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
.
This. How about the best public courses for $100 or less? And not $100 off peak season only certain days of the week, but walk up fee. I’d go so far as $150, but that’s pushing it.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
Dontre Wilson sounds like Urban got a playmaker we really needed. I’d love for him to get on the field 10 plays a game this year.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
The dude in the Edgar Allen Poe mask freaks me out. Actually, anyone in a mask freaks me out. It just does, I think it goes back to my Jason days as a young kid watching the Friday 13th series.
And it’s simple masks too, like The Carver (Nip/Tuck) and the 3 people from The Strangers
Still a good show.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Obviously Black is closed until the spring, but just a few weeks ago I played the green course. One of the things I abhor about Bethpage is the pace of play. Any of the 5 courses will take at least 5-6 hours to play, and on top of that, the predominance of assholes who act like they built the place.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
ive heard nothing but good things.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Based on the insufferable tone and cliche’ and stereotypical writing, one can only assume the author’s never left the US before.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Don’t forget pay somebody $200 (on top of the greens fee) for their tee time.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Watched the first episode and DVR’d the next two. On the fence whether I will continue watching. The first episode was just so implausible.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
I almost wish it was even darker, but I’m guessing this is as edgy as Fox gets. I’m enjoying it, but it seems like they are flying at 100 mph sometimes. Not sure how long they can carry on at this pace, but I’ll watch the 4th episode.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
after the conversation at my house last night, I can confirm this to not be true.

February 5th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
I’ve seen scarier things while watching Muppets.
You must be referring to Jason Segel’s dancing.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
i love ESPN’s nostalgia about all the NY assholes at the bethpage us opens…nevermind that winged foot is 45 minutes away from NYC and wasn’t completely littered with assholes on every teebox.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
One of my friends lived there for over a year with Peace corp and designed, contracted, and built a couple different athletic parks for the kids to use. He was displeased when they decided to leave because of the crime. He’s still alive as well.

February 5th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
Flipped to The Following last night, heard Bacon say “Poe” within 10 seconds and turned away, two episodes was enough…that show’s not good, the premise isn’t believable since the guy playing the serial killer isn’t good enough and the rest of the characters are bland to the point where a CSI show would feel compelled to give them some depth
February 5th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
There are plenty of other “public” courses on LI that are just as nice as Bethpage, that range from $60-$100–including cart–that take about 4-4.5 hours to play, minus the assholes.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
I thought it was painfully stupid, and I’ve sat through 6 seasons of Dexter.
/Poe, Poe Poe Poe, Poe Poe, Poe, have I mentioned Poe?
//bludgeons audience with sledgehammer that has “POE” written on it
February 5th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
What woman wants to hear a man bitch about working around the house? Not one. You do whats’ necessary to help get things done, everyone is happy, which equals more sex. It’s not a difficult equation.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
Cameron Poe. Legend.

February 5th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
The scene where NEVERMORE was written on the wall in blood and it took Bacon the entire scene to make the Poe connection was amazing
February 5th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
Nothing about Urban flipping a bad ass Oregon recruit?
February 5th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
This.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
Agreed.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
This. They couldn’t have gotten someone badass like Lance Henriksen for that role?
Too many dumb cop show cliches shoehorned in there too, like Bacon and that chick with the small eyes not getting along, Iceman doing the hero worship thing, etc
February 5th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
I think we can all agree that Pheeel sucks, but this guy just sounds like a whiner because CBS didn’t focus on his hometown team enough.

I’ll deal with a little friction around the house and not acquiesce to doing a shitload of chores the rest of my married life.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:20 AM
Oregon is killing it with the public courses
February 5th, 2013 at 9:20 AM
The problem is that Kevin Bacon is too good an actor (never thought I’d write that). He’s not quite the scene chewer that Andre Braugher was on Last Resort, but he’s similar in that the rest of the cast can’t measure up. Except for Braylon’s ex – she’s hot.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Might want to get good and drunk first. Goggles will help, alot
February 5th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
good choice.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:23 AM

I have no idea why you’d think that.
One of my friends lived there for over a year with Peace corp and designed, contracted, and built a couple different athletic parks for the kids to use. He was displeased when they decided to leave because of the crime. He’s still alive as well.
My brother just got back from Honduras late Sunday night. He seemed fine when I saw him yesterday.

February 5th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
I was looking at putting together a guy’s trip to Bandon. Cost with airfare, lodging and greens fees was nearly $5k/man for a long weekend. I’m not there yet.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
I know a place up in Brainerd we can get laid.
Brainerd? I’d rather play a shitty course in Bemidji. At least up there they have college chicks from BSU.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
What kind of chores are you guys doing? The wife does everything inside of the house except for the kitchen, which I handle because I do the cooking. And I handle everything outside. Pretty simple, no arguments because we know our roles.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
My problem as well with this show. I felt like I’ve seen it so many times before, and it’s silly to try any shock value with gore these days. Especially when the show is on FOX. I still haven’t recovered when Robson got raped via spoon in Oz.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
What kind of chores are you guys doing? The wife does everything inside of the house except for the kitchen, which I handle because I do the cooking. And I handle everything outside. Pretty simple, no arguments because we know our roles.
Sort of the same here. I don’t think we’ve had one argument about chores in 10 years.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
This guy seems like a massive douchebag. Oh well, I’m excited for the game. I’ve become a genuine US soccer fan. I almost want them to win as much as I want Germany to win.

Mike Yanagita. Legend.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
I’ve only been married about a year and a 4 months now, but we’re settling into roles as well. I’ve recently agreed to clean the place once every two weeks. It takes like two hours on a saturday morning, so no big deal. Throughout the week, I empty the dishwasher, take out the trash, etc. I’m trying to cook us a dinner once or twice a week too, but I haven’t really gotten started with that. None of that seems to be a huge deal to me. She’s got a much more difficult job than I, so I would feel bad if I did much less.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Good thing you weren’t born in the 30′s
February 5th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
dissapointed you of all people didn’t get the Fargo reference.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
One of my friend is married to a girl who doesn’t cook. He can’t cook either. They’ve been married for 7 years now and they eat out every day. Occasionally the mother-in-law drops off some home cooked meal. Not sure why I’m telling you guys this. But man, they must be spending insane amount of money on food.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Some of the chores shit here involves having two little ones, and dealing with a winter where you’re trapped inside for months. I can’t wait til my kids are older and all this gets pawned off on them. I already have my 5-year old putting his clothes away.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
what does that have to do with Michigan or ND?

Yeah, flipped from Miami IIRC. And Alabama continues to just have a ridiculous class.

The US is running a bunch of drug interdiction ops in Honduras from Soto Cano AFB. More here: http://www.jtfb.southcom.mil/
We have all kinds of troops down there since we militarized the drug war. Major contributing factor to the crime there (both sides arming up).
February 5th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
Not only spending a lot on food, but also probably eating really unhealthy. Cooking isn’t exactly difficult either.

Speaking of soccer, Duffster’s match fixing post still hasn’t been updated to fix the massive factual error in it.
Also we’ll lose to Honduras because we suck ass.

Can someone please explain what the hell that shark gif is?
February 5th, 2013 at 9:42 AM

Gives you lists by state which should have actual public courses worth playing. The New Jersey list has 3 in Monmouth County that are just County courses.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
I do what I can at the house, inside out outside. Shes says “Hun, can you clean the bathroom?” If I have the time, I do it. I do all the laundry, which I don’t mind, cause the laundry room’s my man cave, where I have the computer, additional TV, card table in there etc. I’m in there washing clothes on a Sat afternoon, watching college games, surfing the web, etc. I’m pretty much left alone.
I also got my kids vacuuming, dusting, emptying the dishwasher and cleaning their rooms. We all pitch in to do whatever to get the house in order.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
Speaking of soccer, Duffster’s match fixing post still hasn’t been updated to fix the massive factual error in it.
Last call, Mole. That post was immutable.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
0-0 because we will be playing 7 defensive mids.
Oh wait only two of them are any good. OK yeah we’ll lose.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
ohio’s is pretty solid. there’s a really good donald ross here in cleveland called manakiki that i think i’d make room for on that list somewhere. really fun track.

It’s a Goblin Shark. The gif is from a video shot in Japan, it’s biting into an empty wetsuit.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Agreed. My reaction was that there is no way this can be fake. If it is, that guy is the next Sean Penn.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
I’m trying so hard to get banned. Well, harder than the effort put in to reading a press release from Europol that says a game was fixed within the last four years and then throwing up a post guessing it was a game from six years ago, anyhow.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
No argument with the three Michigan courses listed. Arcadia Bluffs is phenomenal.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Has The Following had the cop show trope of another agency coming in and screwing up the investigation yet?
February 5th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
They do not seem to have a number for each state, for instance, Delaware has only 5, Florida has 30, Ohio 15. Still not a bad resource if you are looking to play somewhere new.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
Your anger is amped a bit this week. Everything alright at home, Mole?
February 5th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
I’ve got a pretty good thing going at my house. My wife worries about the kids – keeping them fed, bathed, buying clothes that fit, school work – and some chores like laundry and cooking, and I do basically everything else. That includes mowing, snow removal, routine home maintenance, non-routine home projects like landscaping, paying the bills, “strategic” financial issues like retirement planning, auto maintenance, etc. Obviously I pitch in with the kids too. But for the most part she’s the person who handles the day-to-day stuff and I’m the big-picture strategist. Works well for us.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
You’ve changed Mole.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
The last public golf course I played on I caught an electric golf cart on fire.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
Used to be a quote my Dad would say when we were kids and my Mom was mad for us not doing chores, behaving, etc.
“If Mom’s not happy, ain’t nobody happy” LOL
February 5th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
I don’t understand how CONCACAF gets 4 entries into world cup. Yeah, I know only 3 are automatic, but considering the fact that 4th seed has to qualify against Oceania team, it might as well be automatic. It should be top 2 auto qualifier with the 3rd team going up against Asia or Africa.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
If i recall, the courses have to have a certain number of ratings by the ratings team. I think it’s at least 50 (rounds rated) to get on the Best Courses list, 25 for Courses You Can Play. This limits what gets on the lists.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
$400 for the cheap course! I also think you must stay at a certain resort to even get a tee time at Spyglass and/or Pebble. Fuck golf already.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:55 AM
I thought the SI article on Hercules Gomez was a good story. That golf.com piece on the ex-cop with the outrageous burn trauma, it was a profound but at times difficult.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:55 AM
STORY TIME!!!!
February 5th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
Speaking of gilf, just called to schedule the annual golf (drinking) weekend. Can’t get here soon enough.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
*golf
February 5th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
I missed the justification for why they changed this. Last time we had to play CONEMBOL, now they’re playing Asia and we get Oceania. Wonder if it’s because of Brazil getting the automatic bid.
CONCACAF does not deserve three automatic spots by any measure.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
The local cops have had a couple guys turn out to be in the cult and tried to kill people, so yes
February 5th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
Sister-in-law just moved to Santa Fe. May go up there this summer and play these.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
“If Mom’s not happy, ain’t nobody happy” LOL
ah, the old “happy wife, happy life” line. just make sure you don’t allow that happiness to come at the expense of yours. it’s not a contest. it’s a relationship.
February 5th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
Der Kaiser, I don’t mind 3 automatic, but I agree that they should do more home and home matches for those last spots. Or just combine the America’s, I actually think if they had 9 spots for Concacaf and Commebol 8 might come from South America.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
I have gotten really lucky and gotten to play on more expensive private courses. Charity tournaments. Maybe it’s just here in the DC region, but there are a ton of charity tournaments that I have been in through work. You pay like 100-150 tops (sometimes company pays) and a lot of times they give you vouchers to come back on a weekday and play for free.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
My buddies do the Pebble trip every year. Charter a jet. Stay at a Pebble resort that I believe is just off 18. Play Pebble and Spyglass. It’s a $5000 trip before you start drinking.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
I thought we were taking this post in a whole new other direction. Was looking for pics and links.
Golf……..gotcha.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
And the one would be Mexico.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
Not as ridiculous as Asia getting four.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
I always viewed marriage as a zero sum game and I’m not winning.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
Of the top courses on that Golf.com link, I’ve played the Broadmoor (CO), Pine Dunes (TX), and Grand National (AL). I need to up that count a little bit.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
Anyone watching House of Cards?
February 5th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
Nothing too special. Shittiest course in Charlotte, we got real drunk and played bumper cars, wrecked one and broke the back axle, but we kept using it and eventually the cart rubbing on the tires caught from the friction.
Course was so shitty they didn’t even notice it was fucked up when we returned it.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
North and South America merging and having 8-9 teams get to world cup would be so awesome. Too bad Mexico and USA will never let it happen. Right now they are guaranteed to make every world cup. Why would they try to jeopardize that. Just imagine USA going to Buenos Aires to take on Messi for a spot in the World Cup. They’ll get their ass kicked, ofcourse. But it’ll be so exciting as a casual observer.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
Ah yes, the complete utter incompetence of the local police force is a longtime cop show staple, forgot about that one
February 5th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
Speaking of, Justified better be better than last week’s episode. If not, I’ll be watching Lincoln (lights bsanders beacon)
February 5th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
I do most of the inside chores. He handles the cars and all the outside stuff. I can’t do that anyway because of allergies. His job is much more demanding than mine and he makes most of the money so I feel like I should do more at home. I also do all the cooking except on the grill. When the kids are with us they keep up their rooms, bathroom and the trash and diswasher.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:05 AM
How did you decide on who would return the cart?
February 5th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
Damn, didn’t know dontre went osu. Baylor had been near the top for the past few weeks. Oh well, back to the 3 stars
February 5th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
It is, I mean we operate alot independently because I work out of town and miss alot of getting the kids here and there cause I am 45 minutes away during the day. She give and take alot of things between each other.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
Probably true, but Australia moving to Asia from Oceania screwed things up. I’ll take Japan, South Korea, and Australia against the top three from CONCACAF.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Spencer BTW, the Cleveland Amateur plays over two days at Manakiki and a 2nd course (cant remember). What you should do is get a time for the day afterwards when they have the course in perfect shape for that. I did this past summer.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
lets make a TBL road trip outta it. illformula’s in i know that.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
They also played the “He’s not a real cop and doesn’t have to play by the rules” card in the second episode, they covered a lot of generic ground in just 80 minutes of TV to start their season
February 5th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
The one who was the drunkest.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:08 AM
I’ll take Japan, South Korea, and Australia against the top three from CONCACAF.
Presently or all the time? Not sure I agree.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
Presently. Australia the weak link obviously.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
I would love to, though my travel plans for 2013 were pretty much shot when I got back from Vegas the other day and the wife looked at the credit card statement.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
Sounds odd, but come to Ohio for a long weekend. You can do Cincy (Stonelick and Shaker), Columbus (Cook’s Creek and Granville – an old school Donald Ross course) or Zanesville (Longaberger and Eagle Sticks), and Cleveland (Stonewater and Little Mountain). You can get on most of them for >$50. Longaberger for $70.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
Just imagine USA going to Buenos Aires to take on Messi for a spot in the World Cup.
First off, we prefer to avoid the plane flights where we crash and then have to eat each the fat dead people. 2nd, that’s a helluva long flight.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
I just can’t believe we’re just year and a half away from World Cup. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was ranting about the vuvuzelas.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
idiot college hockey player might not be long for college hockey.
nothing like a little drunken assault of a female bar manager on a sunday night. what an asshole.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Pine dunes is so great. I will be attacking that list, need to see some other courses than Texas
February 5th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Would have expected that from a UND player.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Long term, not qualifying for the World Cup would be a good thing for US Soccer.
#SunilOut
February 5th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
1) That was Uruguay, not Argentina
2) That was rugby, not soccer
3) The eight hour flight from Miami to Buenos Aires doesn’t go over the Andes
February 5th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Watched the South Africa / Mali game on Saturday, vuvuzelas were out in full force.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
You can tell ND doesn’t really care about hockey if they allowed that story to get out
February 5th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
I used to tend bar for a local summer place that was one of three bars owned by the same group. They would purchase large amounts of Absolut and other spirits from the Seagram group. The salesman gave 8 -12 spots to the bar for a golf outing and sales pitch for how to sell the new products to customers. 120 bar employees would show up for a shotgun start at some of the nicer private clubs in New Jersey. When you went to tend the flag at the first green, 4 airplane bottles popped up, at the turn, get your picture taken with the Absolut girls, then go have an open bar lunch for 2 hours. Good times. Was a shame when Seagrams was bought up by the bigger company in 2000.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
Justified better be better than last week’s episode.
Uneven start to this season, but it is still enjoyable. At least the preacher is dead. That story arc was lame. Hopefully, his sister ends up playing a decent character. She appears to have some Sinister in Her.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
If they don’t want to mess with World Cup qualification, at least consolidate Gold Cup and Copa America into one tournament. Maybe both regions can merge for that trophy and then hold separate qualification tournament for the World Cup. America desperately needs to play high profile games in between the world cups.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
kinda hard for that story to not get out. I first heard about it from a friend on FB who is friends with the woman who got punched in the face.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
i feel like we talked about this…did the same thing. other course was sleepy hollow, played em both those weekends and holy shit they were fun.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:20 AM
USSF wouldn’t go for that, eliminates the only tournament they have a chance of winning.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
Oh, and the FBI raided that bunker and killed the crazy survivalist dude in Alabama who kidnapped a kid off a school bus. Fuck that guy.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
Mole you are uptight.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
I had no idea Tom Shales had left the WaPo.
/ Old, out of touch
// Talking about me, not Shales
February 5th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
Dredd is not a good movie. Did i watch it? Yes. Let’s blow shit up!
February 5th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
/pays Caribou another 10 bucks for providing that Theissen picture
February 5th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
The new one? That got pretty strong reviews, which was surprising. I remember seeing the original in theatres, that was one of my early experiences with learning that a movie with a big star in it could be awful. Solid video game though, was part of the old Blockbuster Video Game Tournament.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
The only thing I’m uptight in, Scripty, is Spencer’s mom.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
I have always found the opposite to be true.
/ Now make me a sammich and get that blouse off
February 5th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Outside of the regional tournaments – is it the USMNT is not trying to get better friendlies, or that there are scheduling issues preventing us from getting better/tougher games?
I just don’t see what some of these nations have incentive to play the USA…
February 5th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
i watched the new dredd last night…i thoiught it was a pretty damn good shooty movie. good enough to waste time on. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the stallone version, which might be the worst movie ever made (outside of the room).
February 5th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
Alive is a fantastic book. I’ve read that a few times.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
It’s too bad. I’d think there would be so much interest in a tournament like that. Lot of Americans still watch the World Cup knowing full well that USA has no shot at winning. I think ESPN and other networks would be very interested in rights to a tournament with Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, and USA.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
Mole, it did get good reviews. It was entertaining. Karl Urban is good as dredd and this Olivia Thirlby gal (pretty) was a good partner in the movie. I’d give it a 5 out of 10 which is better than i thought it would be. So i guess you’d call in above average to good. Plus, i am not a Stallone fan outside of Rocky and Copland so I liked this version better
February 5th, 2013 at 10:30 AM
Absolutely not the problem.
In the last three years we’ve played friendlies against:
Brazil
Netherlands
Poland
Turkey
Chile
Argentina
Spain
Belgium
France
Italy
Russia
Paraguay
All better teams than us.
The problem is our talent, coaching, and directors, not our scheduling.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:30 AM
A.P did you get to see Raid Redemption?
February 5th, 2013 at 10:30 AM
Based on that article, it sounds like Mullet is getting about as much pussy as I do.
dying…
this response to any time htown make a self referential joke about being a gay man is sop lately. it’s almost patronizing
i’m sure htown is fine with it
February 5th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
I downloaded that last night on AP’s suggestion. Will watch it tonight hopefully.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
I also watched The Raid Redemption yesterday, i mentioned it during the day. Hot damn, one of the best movies i’ve ever seen. I hope the american remake doesnt screw it up. Watch the original version with subtitles. Fantastic martial arts
February 5th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
The Greenbrier? Pinehurst? The definition of “public” is being stretched thin here.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Absolutely not the problem.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Would you consider making the trip in if USA-Mexico was in Columbus?
February 5th, 2013 at 10:35 AM
What woman wants to hear a man bitch about working around the house? Not one. You do whats’ necessary to help get things done, everyone is happy, which equals more sex. It’s not a difficult equation.
yes. also, whenever there is complaining about what I DONT do, I ask if she’d like me to stop doing what I DO do, see how she’d like it
will she then….install microwaves and garbage disposals, clean cat litter, handle the bills, shovel sidewalk/walkway, lift heavy things, handle most of laundry, masturbate daily?
/drops mic
February 5th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
Hot damn, one of the best movies i’ve ever seen.
Agreed. They just green-lighted the sequel which picks up shortly thereafter. It got a 100-day shooting schedule, which is fairly long. Same director and both of the brothers will be in the sequel.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
Friendlies don’t do much to develop the starting 11 for a soccer team, since both teams are usually playing a team of reserves anyway.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:38 AM
They are floating a 2016 Copa America to be combined and hosted by USA, it was leaked in October as a done deal then retracted as still in talking stage. Commebol knows it would make more money in USA, bigger stadiums, TV rights, and it would be played around UEFA 2016, could be huge, but who gets what money is the stumbling block.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:38 AM
Olivia Thirlby, the girl from Dredd
Originally became famous for being in Juno
February 5th, 2013 at 10:39 AM
The lady from Game of Thrones who played the villian in Dredd did a great job. Everything a villain boss should be
February 5th, 2013 at 10:40 AM
Gold Cup won’t be merged for good with Copa America because of the minnows in Concacaf not the US or Mexico. In order for anything to get done in Concacaf it has to be voted on and tiny little islands get the same voting rights as the US and Mexico. USSF would do it because all they care about is money.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:41 AM
That’s not going to be a true Copa America though. It’s the 100th anniversary and will be a one off special tournament. Copa America 2015 is still happening in Chile.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:44 AM
It’s fantastic. Every action director in America should be forced to watch this movie and take notes. Such clean, dynamic camerawork.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:44 AM
Reading that Tennessee bill article.. My take:
principal: hi, Mr. Smith, i just wanted to let you know your son is gay
Father: What? How do you know?
Principal: we found him listening to scott stapp albums
Father: dumbass, he’s not gay. he’s just spencer
February 5th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
Queefer, that fight scene with the brothers vs the little guy…amazing. One of the best scenes ever
February 5th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
How about if those tiny islands get two auto qualifiers to the big boy tournament? They can hold a mini tournament to see who goes there. I realize it’s not the most fair of solution, as you’ll get two absolute dog shit team in there, but seems like something that can easily be worked around.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
“If Mom’s not happy, ain’t nobody happy” LOL
close to a golden rule, as women tend to be the squeaky wheel and men just take care of shit. but it only goes so far. can’t be doing everything all the time. eight years of marriage four kids and still having more fun than not

Shoulda called that movie The Raid: Bro.
It was entertaining though.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:47 AM
oops
February 5th, 2013 at 10:48 AM
Especially when she got on the mic. So weird since i watched both movies in same day.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:49 AM
It was bonkers. Went on forever.
My favorite was the first one in the hallway. Just wave after wave of guys coming at the rookie, and it was all so smooth and clean and raw. I dont know how they filmed some of those shots.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:52 AM
AP, you have Netflix? If so, check out Elite Squad 2. You’ll enjoy it a lot.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
Sounds like the hallway scene in Oldboy.
February 5th, 2013 at 10:55 AM
Queefer, ill put it in my queue.
Mole, it probably took inspiration from Oldboy
February 5th, 2013 at 10:58 AM
That still wouldn’t work for them. If you look at the Gold Cup 2013, Cuba, T&T, Canada, Haiti, Martinique, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize and Panama are the non US and Mexico teams. Most of those would be left out of the new Copa America which I would assume would be 16 teams. No way any of the 10 CONMEBOL countries would give up their rights to qualify so you’re looking at 6 teams being left out that are in the Gold Cup now. The small countries already play qualifying tournaments to get those spots. Unless the money is drastically different for them they won’t go for it. These are also the countries that have repeatedly voted known corrupt FIFA executive Jack Warner as president of CONCACAF so they aren’t exactly known for their good judgement.
February 5th, 2013 at 11:00 AM
All ten members of CONEMBOL are getting in to the 2016 Centenial Copa America, USA and Mexico are automatically in, and four other CONCACAF teams will get in based on the results of the 2015 Gold Cup.
February 5th, 2013 at 11:02 AM
picked up raid redemption at library last night. so will be three days before i have time to watch it
/also got hurt locker
February 5th, 2013 at 11:41 AM
what’s cool in Raid Redemption is how at the start of the movie, the fighting is more refined (hallway) and as they are all more tired, it becomes more brutal (2 vs 1 scene).
Also, the druglord looks amazingly like Eddie Van Halen.
February 5th, 2013 at 11:44 AM
script, i don’t mind blood, but am squeamish with broken bones. can i get a spoiler on that?
February 5th, 2013 at 2:32 PM
Kai >>> Batman. I hope he is looking skyward when we shine our hatchet lights on the clouds over Gotham.
