NaVorro Bowman Nearly Walks Out of Super Bowl Interview Because Ray Lewis Was Being Ray Lewis
Ray Lewis is either a tremendous sports story that fans love (see: people living in and around Maryland) or an insufferable dancing assclown whose act has grown old (see: a lot of other people). After the Ravens beat the 49ers to win the Super Bowl, Lewis walked into an interview room and started screaming, “We did it! We did it!”
According to the SF Chronicle, NaVorro Bowman of the 49ers nearly walked out, telling the media:
“You all might as well interview them, man,” Bowman said. “They won. Can’t do no interview with this noise.”
Eventually, perhaps with some coaxing, Bowman stayed and answered questions. There’s video, somewhere, and we’ll update this post with it when we can find it. [SF Gate]

This is a poll right?
1 vote for “insufferable dancing assclown”

i mean, i can’t hate on ray lewis for this too much…dude just won the super bowl in his last season. he was probably just a wee bit excited.
February 4th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
If I was Bowman, I’d be pissed also. Get outta my ear with that noise.
February 4th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
It’s OK though, because Ray Lewis is a man of Christ. There’s all kinds of quiet humility under that exterior of arrogance and egoism.
February 4th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
So…if we didn’t already have preconceived notions about what an assclown somebody was, and they did this, it wouldn’t be news at all, right?
February 4th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
was he screaming in the same room as bowman? article makes it sound like he was in a different interview room entirely.
February 4th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
Looking forward to the reaction when Lewis decides to play again next year

he probably had more PED’s coursing through his veins than all of the soviet bloc swimmers. I wouldnt even hold him accountable. Im amazed he was even speaking english, and not jabbering in tongues.

re: SWAT gym…this was a fun read.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
the SF-Gate article also states Ray was wildly thrashing around a long bloodied dagger, so it was probably a good call to abort the interview.

february golf tournament without tiger woods being in the field getting a 2.1 rating on SATURDAY…not too shabby at all.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:05 AM
Still confused by this from ESPN
What the holy fuck does that mean? They have an entire chart of “gaps between consecutive championships.” Did I wake up and the meaning of that word changed?

After his performance last night, I guarantee the GM is thankful he’s done. Good gawd he sucked last night.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
The power of Phil
February 4th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
They could have omitted the word “consecutive” and it would have made far more sense.
/at least to me
February 4th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
That’s the longest gap between consecutive titles for a player in NFL history
Fantastic.

spencer you see those Masters odds I posted last week
February 4th, 2013 at 10:08 AM
He was a liability to everyone but the Niners OC and the TV producers.

I watched some.
The 16th hole is worth it, if you like seeing grown men crumble or act like total douche bags.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
I saw it on Sportscenter this morning as a graphic and thought okay that’s just a mistake but it’s in one of their articles too, absolutely baffling.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:11 AM
Those pros are hitting 9 irons to that 16th, so they should be able to cope.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:11 AM
How dare Ray celebrate after winning the Super Bowl?!? What a fake-religious, overrated, arrogant, murdering, me-first, awful person he is.
/Trying to stick with this new narrative.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
New?
February 4th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
The Ravens won the Super Bowl and Ray Lewis was screaming we did it, we did it? Oh the horror!
February 4th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
didn’t, but ive seen em in other places. didnt see anything too crazy on there.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
I think Jim Nantz mentioned him making the tackle on almost every other play, even when he was jumping atop the pile.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
shit…phil hit a PW. it was playing at 161, but the landing spot was probably 10 yards closer to the tee…
16 at tpc scottsdale and 17 at tpc sawgrass are BY FAR my least favorite two holes on tour.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
Poindexter gets it.

16 at tpc scottsdale and 17 at tpc sawgrass are BY FAR my least favorite two holes on tour.
I don’t disagree but you gotta admit, there are some really strange reactions captured at them.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Both of these statements are true. It’s ridiculous to rip people for celebrating winning the Super Bowl, while separately he is all of those things.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Since he announced his retirement, it seems he has become all of those things (at least to folks here). Never heard any of this before then.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
yup…it’s cool seeing what that kinda added pressure does to players, and 17 always can get crazy scary if there’s a lotta wind, but for most of the really good, seasoned pros, it aint nothin but a stock short iron.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
i’d like to think it was a delayed confession to his part in the double homicide.
oddly enough, no one could find Ray Lewis’s White Jersey after the game.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:20 AM
By the way, where is Queefer? Is this another banning I missed or something?
February 4th, 2013 at 10:20 AM
It’s the placement that’s bothersome more than anything. If those two holes are 11 or 12 on their respective courses, it’s not as dumb/gimmicky
February 4th, 2013 at 10:20 AM
do people still say this? if so, this.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
My favorite part of the tourney was when Bubba pumped the crowd up ala the Ryder Cup and, ala the Ryder Cup, hit a terrible shot with the crowd screaming.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
Are you queefer? Not being snarky. You just have queeferish tendencies.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Had a nap this weekend during which I had a terrible nightmare that Baltimore won the Super Bowl. Then I woke up and realized it must have all been a dream because Ray Lewis had not been named MVP as the narrative demanded.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
agreed with that too.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
16 at tpc scottsdale and 17 at tpc sawgrass are BY FAR my least favorite two holes on tour.
also: the “bear trap” holes at Tampa, and I’ll be unpopular and say the 18′s at Doral and Riviera. I don’t like the courses ending on a par 4 that averages 4.4+. I like a 72nd hole to have some good bogey & birdie potential for a big swing at the end.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
agreed on the bear trap, and i hear you on doral and riviera, tho personally i really like both those holes from a design standpoint. you have a point tho…it’s almost impossible to birdie those holes so if a player needs a stroke, you gotta hope for a choke instead of fireworks. kinda anti-climactic.
i wish there were more driveable par 4′s for closing holes.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
I think there’s a lot to this – if the 12th at Auguta was 16, people would be bitching a fit about it being an unfair way to finish.

I guess Lewis was fake and me first when they lost to the Patriots last year. The same emotion that he used to help his team in victory is what he used to comfort his team in defeat. But yeah, he’s a me first player.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:33 AM
Why are opposing players sharing an interview room? Stupid.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:33 AM
yea…im sorry, i really cant get on this ray lewis hate. dude’s a helluva leader, incredible football player/mind and i loved watching him play his entire career, even tho he was on the team stealers. dont really care about the “narrative”…it’s not that bad if you ignore it.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
Ray Lewis can act like a dumbass but get it together in the media area when other people are talking. It’s not like he didn’t have time after the game before going to the media area. it’s poor behavior. Just be an adult and show respect to others.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:37 AM
Bowman is all class.
/Linebacker U’d
February 4th, 2013 at 10:39 AM
Yes, both teams were separated by a curtain doing postgame interviews in the same room. Very Stupid.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:41 AM
Bowman threw a tantrum after losing and was on the verge of abruptly leaving a media session he really didn’t want to do. It doesn’t make him a bad person, just an emotional human. Ray Lewis just happened to be experiencing the opposite emotion. Assigning class to all of this is weak.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:44 AM
Self-control isn’t an emotion.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:48 AM
euphoria over winning a Super Bowl in your last ever game is. The fuck was he supposed to treat it like, a funeral? We did it, We did it. Oh my goodness, it just reads and sounds so out of control.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:49 AM
yea…im sorry, i really cant get on this ray lewis hate.
i can, he makes it easy. he is such a great player, but all his antics and god loves me only remarks are quite the turnoff.
February 4th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
that said, who cares about this post? so he was celebratiing after a SB win, big deal.
February 4th, 2013 at 11:12 AM
THis pretty much encapsulates the whole Ray Murda issue for me.
