Did Metta World Peace Hit Brandon Knight With an Uppercut? Sure Looks Like It
Metta World Peace was back in the Palace Sunday, the scene of his famous brawl, and while getting mixed up with Brandon Knight under the hoop, it looks like he may have thrown a mini-upper cut at the Pistons’ rookie 2nd year guard. Said Knight:
“The play needs to be reviewed because he definitely threw a punch,” Knight told reporters after the game. “It felt like he threw a punch. That’s why I reacted the way I did.
“The play was over and he grabbed me around the neck. If someone grabs you around the neck, you’re not just going to let that happen. You do what you need to get that person off you.”
World Peace talked around the punch, which probably means he threw it:
“He’s a small guy. (Knight) was trying his hardest to keep me off him. He worked hard, man. That kid, I don’t know where he’s from, I don’t know what school he went to, because he was guarding me and I was crashing the boards. He’s a tough kid, man. He tried to keep me off the glass and he did a good job. That’s all I can say. He’s a tough kid, very great. He’s a tough point guard or shooting guard or whatever he is.”
Just a guess, but given his history … fine, but no suspension for World Peace. Yes, it still feels silly typing “World Peace.” [ESPN LA]

Don’t worry. His coach and GM haven’t figured out which one he is either.

FWIW, Glenn Robinson III punched Jordan Hulls on Saturday.

Is the question that led to this answer about the punch? Because I don’t see him talking about it.

HA. Seriously? No, it does not appear that any punch was thrown. Brandon Knight has clearly never been punched before.

Freddie Roach has been preaching for Pacman to start using the back-of-the-wrist uppercut for years…seems like he finally got through to someone.

If Artest threw an uppercut, Knight would’ve been on the floor, bleeding from his mouf

Holy shit, the puppy just laid out our older dog (a large boxer) with a textbook tackle. Running start, head up, wrapped the older dog up with her arms. Did sorta graze the head with her paw on initial contact though so I may have to fine her some money.

1. Knight isn’t a rookie, he’s a 2nd year guy. 2. GR3 did not throw a punch. He wasnt even looking at the guy he hit. 3. Artest didn’t throw a punch is like saying Suh didn’t kick Schaub in the balls….history tells us otherwise

Who is GR3?

The pup of the Big Dog Glenn Robinson.

I don’t think the “punch” really matters. He should be fined for grabbing someone around the neck. That leads to a fight more times than not and should be just as punishable as a punch.

Hey Ron, Knight went to Kentucky. Led them to the Final Four.
