This story is a couple days old but deserves more recognition than it has gotten thus far. Thomas Dotterer, a 77-year-old man who has worked in a Syracuse liquor store for 60-plus years, was shot point-blank in the eye last week during a robbery of said store.

Dotterer nearly died during hospitalization and, sadly, will likely never see out of his right eye again. However, despite all of that, the worst thing to take place in his life all week was the outcome of the Royal Rumble, making this news very, very Syracuse. Here’s Dotterer:

“That’s the worst thing that happened to me all week. The Rock beat [CM] Punk. Did you know that?”
