You can plan all you want, but the distance, limitations, and over-crowding are going to be issues. It’s not like people will be able to fall back on taking a cab if the public transportation is overcrowded and delayed (which will happen).

Just to reiterate: not being able or good enough to host the SB is not a mark on NY as a “bad city” or something. It is just going to be a logistical nightmare, IMO. Potentially shitty weather on top of it just makes it worse.

The game will be in New Jersey. All the events are going to be held in Manhattan. Transportation to NJ from NYC (particularly where the stadium is) is substandard. There will be a critical mass of people in the country’s largest city. Any intelligent journalists will stay in NJ since it’s closer to the stadium, but will miss out on all the events that are held in the city that anyone would want to go to. The location of the stadium itself is god awful.

That doesn’t even get into the fact that the weather could affect the game. I’m firmly on a Super Bowl not being adversely impacted by the weather. I know some people aren’t.

I love New York, lived there and BK for a while, but think it is a horrible SB host city.

Don’t worry. The NFL has their own turf guy specifically for the Super Bowl. He’s got multiple fields (primary, backup, emergency, etc) growing somewhere is southern Alabama for a long time before the game.

Will be interesting with New York because of how many of the press people won’t be actually traveling to get there. Have a feeling that the partying might be a bit less when the guys actually have their families there.
