Tiger Woods Wins Farmers Insurance Open For First Tournament Win in 6 Months
Tiger Woods won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines! Tiger Woods is officially back again for the first time in like 6 months. Tiger had a 7-shot lead with four holes to play, but bogeyed and double-bogeyed the 14th and 15th holes. He still held on for a 4-shot victory and finished the tournament at 14-below par.
This was Tiger’s 7th Farmers Open victory. Despite the multi-stroke win, Tiger is still struggling to keep the driver in the fairway. Still, a win is a win is a win and his last PGA win was this past summer at the AT&T National. Tiger started his season by missing the cut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship last week. The 2013 Masters is just two and a half short months away!

GOAT

I think Tiger was the victim of slow play and cold weather as much as anything else as far as those wayward drives go. His swing looked tight and in control for 99% of the tourney.
It’s gonna suck when Tiger breaks the all-time tournament win record but doesn’t beat Jack’s all-time majors mark and the talking heads go into frenzy for decades about who was better.

Only 2.5 months away? Weird, I haven’t heard the soothing sound of Nantz’s voice on those Master’s commercials yet. I thought they started running those at least 4 months in advance.

They have. Saw them on an NFL game or two.

Owns Torrey. Unconvinced until he’s straight off the tee and putting confidently from 5-15 ft on a major Sunday

Tiger will never be back. Back is finishing top 5 every event, winning 10x a year including 2 majors and being a threat to win the other two. Someday he may find his way back to #1 in the rankings but nothing more than that. The talent is far too deep.

That’s asking a lot Duchess. Averaging a major a year for the next five would be “back” IMO

He’s back. Again.
January 28th, 2013 at 6:15 PM
He’ll catch Jack, and that’s all that matters.

Tiger owns La Jolla and Akron. Quite the contrast of landscapes.

No.

Don’t forget Bayhill

It’d be an interesting bet if we didn’t have to wait ten years. Oddsmakers would probably favor Tiger because he’s such a public darling, but I think 40% chance he passes Jack

Depends what your definition of being “back” is. ’00-’06 Tiger will never come back. A guy that can compete at every majors and win one a year along with another 3-4 tour stops, absolutely.

I’m sold.

A guy who had that as his peak for 3 years would be a hall of fame player.

My work here is done, good day.

And Augusta. And St. Andrews. And Muirfield. And Doral.

I never said Tiger couldn’t be great again but saying he’s back discredits how unbelievable he was.

jack set the bar at 46 for age winning majors, so let’s say woods has got that long at least
/46 is the new 26
//that’s me
///in better shape than jack was
////would never wear those pants or sweater
January 28th, 2013 at 9:33 PM
Yes to passing Snead.
Not so sure about passing Jack. Majors get a lot harder with age.

Snead v. Woods is apples to oranges. Their were like 10 events when Snead played. Now there’s 30. It’d be interesting to see winning percentage between the two.

the talent is far too deep? i disagree.
when he’s playing like that for an entire tournament, there’s rory and on-fire-phil. that’s it. IF he can bring that game for an entire season, he’s not far off.
considering he wasn’t “back” last year, he still won 3x, finished in the top 10 a bunch and was statistically very strong. that all portends well to this year.
there’s an outrageous amount of talent on the PGA tour right now…too bad only like 1/3 of them are consistent winners. they gotta prove it first…tiger’s already proved it many, many times over.
