First part would take knowing the relationship not only between Alexander and Sawyer, but Sawyer and her stepson. Second part would only be an assumption that Diane Sawyer’s name carries as much weight in Bristol as it assumedely does in NYC. Third part (my part) would be knowing that she was a Washington Post reporter, and also at ESPN well before she was married. I’d venture to say that The sports editor at the Post, Solomon, and even Kornheiser’s and Wilbon’s recommendations would carry much more weight than Sawyer’s. We’re talking about a multi billion dollar corporation with ESPN, not some little wing nut company that happened to be purchased by Disney.

I would say it obviously varies depending on what you want from life. In this discussion about Nichols, I would describe her as highly successful based on what her career goals appear to be.
