Those voicemails sound like a female. Also, why/how does Manti still have them?

Rob Ryan is the new defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams.

Brazil gives prison inmates a holiday vacation… but thousands don’t return
This is amazing. And they’ve been doing this for years with similar results but yet keep letting the inmates go home. Stupidity at this level fascinates me.

The one question most will ponder when looking at that photo…are those pasties or saucers?

My brain is saying pasties, but my heart is hoping for saucers.

Mostly just commercials for genetically engineered corn and farm equipment.

DeMar DeRozan beat the buzzer, and the Magic, 97-95.
Sounds like Joe Buck was calling this one.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:28 AM
Won’t matter who is directing Star Wars unless the writing improves. A supergroup of the Coens, Andersons, Nolan, and Spielberg could have directed the prequels and they’d still be unwatchable because of Lucas’s inability to write a script.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:28 AM
True fact: the average Samoan field worker has an SAT score of 1520.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:29 AM

So I guess Ronny’s lawyer lied?

The BTN isn’t meant to be watched for 24 hours.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:35 AM
Lucas isn’t writing the script for VII, Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3, Brave) is doing it.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:36 AM
I know, I’m just saying the writing is a bigger concern than the directing.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:38 AM
A lot of bigger Star Wars fans than myself have said that there is a great deal of good material in the expanded universe novels. If they use that then there might be some hope for the next films.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:39 AM
Without a doubt true.
It could be incredible. Or it could be like four of the first six movies, total shit.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:39 AM

January 25th, 2013 at 8:40 AM
Very true. Hopefully with an outside writer and a pretty strong director such as Abrams, they’ll be able to produce something very good. Although, you’re also talking to someone who thinks Episode 3 was pretty good (albeit a handful of scenes)
January 25th, 2013 at 8:41 AM
holy shit…there are Star Wars books!?
January 25th, 2013 at 8:41 AM
There are over a hundred.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
They include such awesome things as albino wookies and jedi wookies.

And Rotel. Lots of Rotel.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
i read an alien vs. predator book in like 6th grade WAYYY before the movie. i remember it being somewhat excellent, actually…way better than the movie.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:45 AM
The action in that movie is the best out of the new 3, and the dialogue is so bad that it made me burst out laughing in theatres. So that was an added bonus. My favorite is when Ewen McGregor is crying “All the younglings are dead.”
January 25th, 2013 at 8:45 AM
If the Ewoks were never introduced Return of the Jedi could have been great. The beginning of that movie through where they escape from Jaba was pretty awesome.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:45 AM
Nail Yakupov scored the game-tying goal for Edmonton last night, and then celebrated with a slide.

January 25th, 2013 at 8:48 AM
we had friends in town visiting last weekend. we go out Saturday night and come back pretty late. sit down on the couch to chill for a bit and what do we find on tv? Predator…about a third of the way through. naturally, we watched the rest.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:48 AM
can we just squash the “art modell for HOF” cause before it even starts?
January 25th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
no. thanks.

January 25th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Lucas should have listened to Harrison Ford and killed off Han in ROTJ.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
I liked the second AVP because it started with a kid dying.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Did someone just disparage the Ewoks? GTFO.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:51 AM
Yeah, and that was supposedly the movie that Speilberg has the most input in on script & direction too. At least direction wise it helped. Script…yeah not so much.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:51 AM
oh, ive been more let down by a movie…act of valor.
they sure as shit had real navy SEALs in it! only they were acting the whole time and they showed almost all the three shooty-blow-up-scenes (i.e. THE ONLY SHIT PEOPLE WANTED TO SEE) in the previews. it was so fucking disappointing and i was so excited for it.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:52 AM
Yeah Carrie Fisher was down with fucking them too.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:52 AM
JJ Abrams couldn’t be a worse pick for director. The next Star Wars will make trillions of dollars and be completely sterile and unsatisfying.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:53 AM

January 25th, 2013 at 8:53 AM
Agreed the best scene in Jedi is when the one Ewok died in battle via blaster.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:53 AM
are you fucking kidding me? ewoks are a god damned abomination.
and i feel like the “how did they become a superpower?” archer-re: russia quote could equally apply to the empire.

Lady outside my office is raging about the cost of her son’s travel league baseball uniforms. $85.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
to be fair, he asked the city for a new stadium, the city passed a vote to raise taxes to build it and he bolted anyways. fuck yea we’re bitter…art modell is the fucking god damned devil.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
I think most would say the best scene in Jedi is Leia in her bikini outfit. But go ahead and stick with your Ewok scene if you’d like.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
holy shit $85 for fucking kid’s uniforms? no wonder she’s pissed…id be pissed too.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
Art Modell is in hell. I know this.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
How old is he? Over 13, ok, under, give the kids a goddamn tee shirt.
January 25th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
And they have every right to be the way he bolted. Another reason why the Ravens don’t deserve another Super Bowl. They steal teams.
January 25th, 2013 at 9:01 AM

Why would he even be in the NFL HoF conversation?
For firing the signature figure in the franchise’s history? Or for juicing Cleveland tax payers for year?
January 25th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
I think he’s about 13-14. Oh shit, that’s just the jersey. She’s going on about the cost of the hat now.
Travel Baseball sounds like the fucking Mafia. Once you get in, there’s no getting out.
January 25th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
because of how “important” he was for landing TV deals or some shit that i never quite understood.
January 25th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Couple of months ago I saw 3 women in Caribou Coffee meeting with a boutique sports clothing rep. It lasted well over an hour as they were going over color combinations and, seriously, fabric samples for soccer unis. For 5 year olds.
January 25th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
This is on the coach. He chooses all that shit. If it’s a true travel league, wait till she has to pay for tournaments out-of-state. $85 is a drop in the bucket.
Is Legion ball still a thing? That’s what I did. It’s like travel ball without too much travel.

Is Modell actually a HOF finalist, or are we just speaking hypothetical? Would be a total joke if he gets in while Andre Reed and Cris Carter get shunned for another year.

This type of stuff is why soccer won’t catch up to the rest of the world here. Too much of this type of stuff, soccer is too much of a hobby forced by parents and not enough of a passion for the game
January 25th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
You would be correct. At the comic-con, dragon-con thing here in Atlanta, there were a lot of slave-girl Leias walking around.

Art did champion MNF a bit. And he helped with the conference re-alignment. He also moved a franchise due to his own horrific financial mismanagement, fired two hall-of-fame coaches, got himself deep in debt due terrible business deals.
The TV deal he sometimes gets credit for is a NFL myth. The NFL had the parameters of their late 60′s TV deal done. Then the AFL went and got a better deal. The NFL went and had to re-do their deal which fortunately wasn’t completed. This is well-covered in some of the AFL documenteries. I’d be shocked if he got in the hall.
They assigned a Cleveland media person to present his case to the HOF voters, if that tells you anything.

Speaking of snakes, how the how did they film the Preacher in Justified holding ‘dem dare rattlers? Some of those shots looked pretty convincing.
Ain’t no way in hell I’m picking up any snake, let alone a rattlesnake. My roommate had a medium-sized python (3-4 feet) that we kept in a fish tank in our bedroom.
Came home one nite and he’s got in the living room, stretching it’s legs out, and it crawled up the underside of one of those plastic grocery store cooler stands. He wouldn’t come out, so I put a pair of gloves on and reach up to grab it, and hit hissed like motha-focker and took a lunge at me. Last time I came near a snake.

holy shit $85 for fucking kid’s uniforms? no wonder she’s pissed…id be pissed too.
I think we spent $250+. Factor in the pants don’t last long for the fast kids. Multi-day tournaments means you need at least 3 jerseys. Jacket for winter ball.
The team spend the winter at the HS indoor facility and will play 60+ games this year so each kid requires $1,000 to cover costs.
