Colton Orr & Deryk Engelland Had the NHL’s Early Fight of the Year [Video]
Colton Orr and Deryk Engelland have fought six times over their careers. Back in 2010, Engelland knocked Orr out. Last night, during the Leafs 5-2 win over the Penguins, Orr and Engelland threw down again. It was a real slobber-knocker and the fighters went to the judges’ scorecards where Orr was given the nod because of damage to Engelland’s eye. Looks like these two are going to a 7th a deciding fight. [via Puck Daddy]

Tremendously tremendous.

Didn’t Orr just take out John Scott in Buffalo a couple days ago? He is doing work.

No linesman wants to get in the middle of those two.
Besides, they probably hope they punch each other into exhaustion to lessen the possibility of a rematch.

Leafs waxing the Penguins is the upset here. Sucks for Toronto that Lupul broke his forearm. That top line for the Leafs was humming along pretty nicely. JVR had himself a game and I’m sure Brian Burke was smirking somewhere while watching.
Staged fights like this one need to go away.

Is that a season ending injury for Lupul? He should be back by March, right? Huge loss in a shortened season but I hope the Leafs will still be in the playoff picture by the time he gets back.

When Orr was on the Rangers, he knocked out Todd Fedoruk in frightening fashion. And Fedoruk was a guy, I’m pretty sure, already had a plate in his head at the time he fought Orr.

That news was seen as just piling on to a Flyers fan with the Hartnell injury/Schenn suspension.
I’m happy for JvR, though.

Rangers top line came together nicely last night. Gaborik having a hat trick wasn’t impressive. The fact that two of them came from batting the puck in mid air sure was though.

Fedoruk had to have reconstructive face surgery after he fought Boogaard back in 2008. That one was on Fedoruk though. He chased Boogey around the rink and the big fella didn’t really want to fight him. One punch, broken orbital and cheekbone. Lesson learned.

He had injuries in Philly and frankly, if the Kane (the guy drafted ahead of him) and the Hawks didn’t win the Cup in 2010, expectations here might have been a bit different for JVR.

No matter how bad the Leafs are, they’re always tough to play against every year. A lot of locals here were calling this a trap game and it pretty much was.

Boogaard was frightening. No way I’d be chasing him around the ice.
