Saw the last 5 min of that game. Harding looked great in the part I saw. Rooting for this guy.
I hope the answer is “by trading Rudy Gay”. Yesterday’s too-late almost-buzzer-beater was pathetic. Dribble with your head down, then shoot after the clock elapsed? Get outta here with that nonsense.

How much does a round at Torrey run? Wife mentioned San Diego as a destination possibility for our 5-yr anniversary this May.

January 22nd, 2013 at 8:58 AM
it’s an upscale public…heard prices have gone up recently. a few years ago, it was scary cheap, and even more ridiculous if you were an SD resident. availability is another thing…that’s one in demand tee time in the middle of golf mecca.
January 22nd, 2013 at 8:59 AM
nevermind…torrey pines prices went WAY up.

I’d probably choose another place to play for that kinda scratch

I’ll def watch a good amount during the weekend. Please tell me it’s on CBS and not NBC. Johnny Miller hates the human race.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:01 AM
god fucking damnit…SD residents can play the south for $61 on weekdays and $76 for weekends. that’s tourist discrimination.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:01 AM
ive heard coronado is excellent from quite a few poeple. pretty cheap too.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:01 AM
if you rent a spot at a weekly hotel in SD county, can you count that as a residence?
seems like 4 buddies could split the cost and play for resident rates for a week.

January 22nd, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Love the Kaepernick story. I’m rooting for him. Hope he doesn’t turn out to be a douche.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:05 AM
Couldn’t you just get a really bad fake ID with a local address for $50? One round of savings would pay for it.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:05 AM
That happens in a lot of places. I wanted to play TPC Scottsdale Stadium course last spring with my brother in law. He’s a resident and would have paid like $60 and I am not a resident and would have paid $195. We ended up playing the Champions course instead. I just couldn’t justify $200 for a round.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:06 AM
You didn’t really cover Musial’s death either, TBL. I know you linked to a Post Dispatch piece, but no post for one of baseball’s all-time greats?
/team Musial was underappreciated nationally
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:06 AM
Thiessen seemed hotter in 90210 than SBTB. Maybe it was that time she was smoking pot in her room, but she was just so fucking hot back then.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:06 AM
she looks really good for her mileage.

January 22nd, 2013 at 9:14 AM
Anyone watch The Following last night?
Really enjoyed it. Hit a few buttons in my wheelhouse – gore, mystery, somewhat scary – and i have set the DVR for the season pass.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:14 AM
Jesus coming back and promptly getting whacked again wouldn’t cause as much crying as you baseball fans are doing over a couple of old farts dying.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:15 AM
You didn’t really cover Musial’s death either, TBL.
If I know TBL, he is going to start banhammering if this keeps up.
Really? I wouldn’t even call this getting pissy or dickish. I was pointing out how Musial, one of baseball’s greatest players, deserved his own post. I’m sure when Willie Mays croaks there’ll be a post for it. I’m lamenting the fact that the national media in general seemed content to ignore Musial in retirement.

The Following was terrible. Damn shame considering the hype and cast.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:19 AM
I dunno, I image googled Catherine Bell and hit view image and then posted the link. I wonder why that is.
Take anything last nite? I was up from the weekend and decided to take a college bball game last nite. Took GAST +5.5 vs TOWSON and they won outright 71-69. Wild finish. Looking at NEB +4.5 tonite vs ILL
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:19 AM
Actually, Kaiser, when Dale Murphy croaks (hopefully at the age of 123, killed after rescuing orphans from a house fire), I hope there are LOTS of posts on him.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:20 AM
The Following fucking blew because of that chicks mole, and Iceman from the X-Men movies godawful acting. I can’t watch any new dramas out of the big 4 networks anymore. It’s the same shit everytime.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:21 AM
Enjoyed it as well. Tho if they rely too heavily on misdirection it will start to suck. quickly. Solid priemier tho.
All that matters. If you threw in 90s JLH in that particular MFK it becomes impossible.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:21 AM
Including the opening weekend of one of the 4 major sports, which also wasn’t covered. But hey, did you see that dunk?
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:22 AM

January 22nd, 2013 at 9:23 AM
I really cracked up last night at reading how bad it was on Twitter, followed by reading someone retweet TBL proclaiming it one of the best shows since Revolution.. he never disapoints.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Good god…I don’t think I could do the MFK between Cook, JLH and Richards.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:25 AM
hype? I never watch commercials, so the first time i saw anything about it was after the NFC Championship game. (was holding the baby with one hand, phone in the other had no choice but to sit through commercials).
as for Manti saying the network dramas don’t work … i agree they’ve gone downhill, most of the best stuff is probably on cable.
tried to watch Homeland and Mad Men (have seasons of DVDs). homeland much better, IMO. last season of Mad Men i thought was really slow. found myself falling asleep watching them
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:25 AM
depends on what the misdirection is. early seasons of 24 level misdirection will be great and late series 24/the killing misdirection will ruin it.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:25 AM
I’ll watch the Following again next week, but it needs to get past using gore for gore’s sake. And less Iceman. That kid….not good.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:28 AM

Earl Weaver was a boss. He had a Napoleon Complex, but he was still a bad mofo.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:31 AM
i’m hoping the show gets a little quicker paced. too bad they can’t re-capture the Dick Whitman level of intrigue the first season had to propel characters forward and add quality depth.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:31 AM
No – taking a couple days off. My hot streak definitely ended last week. Went something like 3-8 in hoops, and 1-3 on the championship game spread/overs. The only thing I did remotely decent on last week was the UFC fights.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:32 AM

I tried last year. There’s almost a hundred episodes. It was like microwaving some 8 year old liberal tripe I found in the back of the freezer. I think I made it through the first 10 before I quit.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:46 AM
well, if he is, they’re doing a horrible job covering that up. i assume if he’s undercover, having a past in the military police would be a bit of a red flag. and undercover or not, wanton shootin’ aint keepin a low profile.

is the following as bad as The Killing?
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:47 AM
after the wire, game of thrones and breaking bad, mad men was kind of disappointing. not saying it sucks, just didnt do it for me. my boring, long-form TV quota is filled up with boardwalk empire.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Your opinion won’t change then. The 2nd half of season 4 is the shows best work, IMO.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:48 AM
I think Bill Simmons must have went into witness protection after Pollard incinerated Ridley on Sunday. His Twitter feed since is nothing but bemoaning what has become of the Lakers as if he sold programs outside the Forum as a youth.
Also, yesterday I wrote that Lisk had to be mistaken that the Cowboys were favorites in three consecutive NFC Championship losses on the road in the 80′s. Of course, I was the one mistaken. Dallas -1 at Philly, 1981. Dallas +3 at San Fran 1982. Dallas -2 at Washington 1983.
/never question Lisk
//never underestimate the stupidity of Cowboy fans who gamble

January 22nd, 2013 at 9:49 AM
I don’t think Boyd’s boy is a cop. Something is up. But cop seems farfetched.
I quite enjoyed Galactica, but Mad Men is definitely worth a watch.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:49 AM
I made it four. Sepinwall’s ‘greatest show of all time’ had a slower plot development than Rubicon with none of the payoff. Hard to get into.

So you’ll only watch 2 seasons?
I’ll probably watch next week to see where they’re headed, but if it’s super strong, super smart, super evil, super manipulative super villian versus Kevin Bacon’s drunk everyman, with gore at every turn for effect, then they don’t need me.
The AVClub reviewer said he had seen all of the first 4, and that watching them made him feel like shit.
That’s how I felt last night.
Usually, if you want to kill Maggie Grace violently, I’m your target audience. But that show was not good.
Also, they stole that thing with the live dog from Se7en.

January 22nd, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Breaking Bad makes a lot of shows that you watch after it seem slow. The pace of Mad Men will disappoint you after watching Breaking Bad. I’d watch something else between Breaking Bad and Mad Men.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:51 AM

I got my father-in-law on this show…and now every time he visits, I get a recap of the previous three episodes he watched. He just used the term “street cred” when discussing the ATM scene in season 2 no more than 3 minutes ago.

He has fashioned himself as an NBA talking head now, so this doesn’t surprise me that much.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:52 AM
one of the reasons seasons 3/4 were so great…BB moves at lightning speed and yet, right in the middle, they devote an entire episode to jesse and walt in the lab by themselves chasing a fly. fucking BRILLIANT. vince gilligan is to plot pace on TV as chip kelly is pace in football.

Cops can’t go around and shoot people even if they are undercover. Never thought that once.
Although, I have on doubt he’d turn on Boyd given the right opportunity.

Dirt, did you hear AMC resurrected The Killing?? I’m sure I won’t watch a second but I may make time to read some hilarious reviews when it comes back.
I am cracking up just thinking about how they “cleared up” that mystery in season 2. Let’s leave separately, like we always do. That’s my favorite line from that show.

Are we really not going to talk about Spencer inventing the handpaper sandjob, or am I the only one highly entertained by that?

Hey Roeth., I ran my nos. for the Super Bowl right after the AFC Champ. game and got a score of SF 26-22. So, that would make my hypothetical line SF -4 or there about. Line came out Sunday initially with SF -5.5 and now public pounded BAL and it’s down to SF -4.
Like the UNDER in this game. Game will come down to a final possession for one team, with a chance to win it with a FG. I guess SF has got to run with Akers, prob nervous a little about that now.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:57 AM
I’ve seen that dude before, what show or movie was from from? He’s a crazy focker.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:58 AM
Urinal: Hunted is a legitimately good show, not just a good show for Cinemax. It cares about things like acting, writing, and cinematography.
Banshee is straight Cinemax. Gratuitous tits, senseless violence, terrible writing, cheesy direction. The pilot was average, the second one much worse. The lead actor couldn’t land a role in a high school play. I’ll give it one more episode but I’ve been real disappointed so far.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:58 AM
Finally saw Django this weekend. Well done, got a little long. Scene with the bags on the heads (early Klan) was hilarious.
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:58 AM
so, so true.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:00 AM
it was a decent rental from redbox. nothing special at all, but an entertaining 1.5 hours.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:01 AM
i wouldn’t be surprised if Simmon’s was hittin’ Old Granddad’s Whiskey hard this week.
Also really enjoying Pollard saying Brady should get fined for his leg kick. Either Pollard is brilliant and has impeccable tastes for irony or he’s just dumb not realizing how it sounds coming from him.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:03 AM
listen, you can’t tempt me with almost killing maggie grace like five or six times and then not deliver at all. such a tease.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:06 AM
Incredible roundup pic. I think Brady should get fined for his slide. it will start a bad precedent if he doesn’t. I also think the Ravens have shown no humility with their win which is what people bash NE for. But I guess when you came close and failed so many times the emotions flow right afterwards.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:06 AM
So Phil Mickelson is backing off his drastic changes ” possible retirement” because of taxes comments.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:08 AM
Nope, he did a podcast this week where he proclaimed the Ravens won because “they knew it would be a close game.”
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:08 AM
amen…take it away forbes!
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:09 AM
I’m also working in the original Star Trek here and there. Shows from the 60s were so painfully slow. I’m prepared for the slowness of Mad Men.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:10 AM
“Hmmm, I don’t FEEL drunk…”
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:11 AM
He had a cup of coffee in The Hurt Locker.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Sounds like me with Firefly. I just couldn’t get into it. The entire show looks like a Gillette commercial. Everything looks airbrushed and immaculate.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:14 AM
The Proposition
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Facts:
1. It’s Wisconsin.
2. One of the girls was pregnant.
3. They were fighting over a single.
I’m going to go out on a limb and, given the above facts, guess that the talent in this establishment is sub-par.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Poor Phil he might have to flee Cali and move to Florida and be Tiger’s neighbor.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:15 AM
I don’t know if he threw too much magic into explaining that one, seemed content to just say Baltimore was better
I’m guessing the irony is lost on Terrell Suggs, they’re an unlikeable team…go Niners
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Heh.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:17 AM
I just love the really dumb cliches he throws in there. I’m gonna miss Lombardi, I hope they find a suitable replacement
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:19 AM
I like this.
People rip on Harbaugh, and believe me, I get it. Outside of him though, Goldson is the only real asshole on the team. The rest of the guys are pretty likable.
Ted Ginn is an asshole, but only to Niner fans.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:19 AM
So true.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:20 AM
well, when you put it like that, i actually feel bad for the guy.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:22 AM
I thought it was very disrespectful when they were celebrating when Ridley was KTFO’d.
And Dolphin fans. and Michigan fans. and Buckeye fans, I’d imagine.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Rooting like hell for Gore, great NYT article on him last week btw. Ed Reed is the only Raven I’m rooting for. Good chance he retires after the SB and he has had a more historic career than Lewis and he hasn’t gotten any of the praise and he isn’t taking his shirt off in the middle of the field and convusling on the ground.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:23 AM
The article said that Phil pays “62 or 63″ percent of his income to taxes. California state taxes are ridiculous, but that number still seems way too high to me.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:24 AM
I had to shut it off when him and Sal started gushing about him and basically rehashing every Jim Nantz point made last week…Lombardi must be a swell guy and help get people laid or something, it’s okay to say things weren’t the best in Cleveland and Oakland for him
29-5 at home over the last 4 seasons including playoffs, weird time to write that column
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:26 AM
only reason i want the ravens to win is to see lewis, birk and possibly ed reed retire.
Ellerbe and kruger are UFAs so they could see some big departures next season.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:27 AM
16-2 in the division going back to 2007. I sure as hell don’t enjoy Lambeau.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:28 AM
You can write the same article about any number of the NFL stadiums, Met Life is lifeless now, the old Giant Stadium was much better, the new club seats and halftime bars means 1/3 of the fans are inside when the game starts at halftime. If I was a visiting team I would always defer to second half. Damn shame.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:30 AM
counterpoint…he’s a fucking golfer that provides next to no value to society as a whole. if ANYONE is deserving to have their income raped by taxes, it’s entertainers and athletes.
counterpoint 2.0…his math is wrong.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:31 AM
his kick was just as egregious as Suh’s no matter if it’s Pollard or anyone else who brings it up.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:33 AM
i agree, i just think complaints about dirty plays from Pollard are priceless.
i do wonder, however, when the ravens will start to worry about the 49ers and stop talking about the patriots.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Then you missed the seminal moment where they discussed how Mark Sanchez was redeemable because of 4 road playoff wins. Was like JMac infiltrated the podcast.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:35 AM
Really hope Ella Mae dies too.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:37 AM
I love Harbaugh. I don’t think he’s an asshole at all. For what, being intense?
And others hate Ginn as well. Giant candy-ass.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:39 AM
The gif on Deadspin after the game on Sunday was priceless, his first facial expression looked like he was 10 years old again and his mom took away his favorite toy
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:40 AM
Suh’s was far more of a bitch move, but Brady def deserved a flag for that.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:40 AM
Dolphin supporters would like a word
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:40 AM
he’s an asshole for being an asshole. remember “what’s your deal?” or howabout when he broke his hand punching jim kelly?
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:42 AM
He was a split second from nailing Ed Reed’s knee with his foot planted in the turf. That could have been a devastating injury.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:43 AM
“What’s your deal” was pretty awesome, no matter what. People get their panties in a bunch way too easily. Who wouldn’t want their NFL coach to be an asshole? I’d think success and asshole-ness are correlated.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:45 AM
i agree with all of this. but i still think harbaugh’s an irredeemable asshole…he went to michigan after all.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:46 AM
I’m dreading when Justified ends up killing off Tim.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:47 AM
why do you think they kill him off?
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:48 AM
One of the Marshalls has to die sooner or later.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:49 AM
Art set up some personal shit with Tim and Rachel when talking to the guy from Bowling Green. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any payoff there.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:50 AM
Well anyone that rubs pete carroll’s nose in it is aces in my book. now THAT guy is an asshole.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:50 AM
They never have anything for him to do anyway so it’d be a perfect way to up the “Now it’s personal” ante with Raylan…Tim Olyphant said he had to suggest to producers that they let Tim tag along on last week’s adventure otherwise he’d have been left out of another episode, guy’s expendable
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:50 AM
Eh, they have two weeks.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:51 AM
He’s a great character though, clearly the most badass.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:51 AM
i thought that was professional…dude was coming up to see art about the availability of his job.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:52 AM
they should make skylar white a marshal.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:52 AM
Agreed, wish they would find more for him to do
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:55 AM
That was more backstory on the other marshals than the previous 3 seasons combined. We knew tim was a sniper, but now he’s got these other issues. Rachel having marital issues.
/Would be interesting to see a one-off epsiode focusing on one of them.
January 22nd, 2013 at 10:59 AM
Boyd’s gonna fuck the preacher’s sister, good times.
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:10 AM
i agree, i just think complaints about dirty plays from Pollard are priceless.
priceless as in valuable. he is a connoissuer and a part of him admires what tawmmy did
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:11 AM
i love lamp and italics
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:19 AM
Finally saw Zero Dark Thirty. So, so awesome
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:20 AM
She keeps improving with age.
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:23 AM
“Breasttaurant.” I likee.
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:25 AM
Is it true you get a discount based on the size of your mantits?
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:38 AM
I’d watch the shit out of that show.
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:41 AM
If you’re in the Northeast … it’s frickin’ cold.
Wouldn’t know. It was 59 degrees at 7:00AM this morning where I am today. Currently 70.
Looove me some TAT. Long time crush – classic combo of cute and sexy.
January 22nd, 2013 at 11:41 AM
Nada battin cleanup.
January 22nd, 2013 at 12:05 PM
I like coming in late and talkin’ to myself. Kind of like I do in real life.
January 22nd, 2013 at 12:16 PM
Awesome
January 22nd, 2013 at 12:18 PM
good job, gramps
January 22nd, 2013 at 12:29 PM
Catherine Bell is a smokeshow, BUT she’s a Scientologist, so that takes her down a few rungs.
What the hell is wrong with these Russians? Yuo don’t drive that fast on snow. Frickin idiots.
January 22nd, 2013 at 12:37 PM
Catherine Bell is a smokeshow, BUT she’s a Scientologist, so that takes her down a few rungs.
Oooh – that’s bad.
I normally hate short hair. She busts that norm (and my pants).
How can she be a scientologist – she doesn’t have the crazy eyes???
January 23rd, 2013 at 10:05 AM
She was on Howard Stern in her heyday (middle of run on JAG) and he pasted her for it.
