Frank Haith Expected to Receive NCAA Notice of Allegation for Unethical Conduct
Missouri head coach is not having a good week. The Tigers have some talent but are not playing well, particularly without forward Lawrence Bowers, and just got drilled at Florida on Saturday. Now, Jeff Goodman is reporting that the NCAA is expected to release a notice of allegations to Haith alleging unethical conduct and failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance. Almost eighteen months ago, Haith’s name came up in Yahoo’s story about the University of Miami and Nevin Shapiro. Among those were allegations that Haith had paid 10k to recruit DeQuan Jones.
From Goodman’s report, the NCAA was unable to prove the allegations regarding the Jones payment, but:
Haith will be charged with unethical conduct because the NCAA did not believe his story that payments to his assistants intended for camp money did not wind up going to repay Shapiro, who made the allegations to Yahoo Sports back in August of 2011. A source said that the money was delivered to Shapiro’s mother — who verified the payment to the NCAA.
Haith was a surprise hire by Missouri before these allegations first emerged. He produced a pretty good first year as the veteran team surged to a Big XII tournament title and a #2 seed before being stunned by Norfolk State. The team was still ranked (undeservedly) in the top 15 heading into the Florida debacle, and we’ll have to see just how far these allegations go, and whether Missouri will be looking for another coach soon.

How is this guy’s named pronounced? Does it allow for “hell Haith no fury” lines?

Tough 12 months at Mizzou: Norfolk St loss, terrible 1st year in SEC football, Dixon kicked off team, and finally Haith likely out as coach.

The only relevant thing Mizzou hoops has ever done was provide a stepping stone for Kemba Walker to have a breakout game as a freshman in the 09 tournament

Oh, and Uconn further punished Mizzou through the corpse of Alex Oriakhi

So who’s getting the job?
Also, really nice cover by Cincinnati. Wish I was on the Bearcats. Michael Carter Williams is the man

That’s not fair. They also made sure we’ll always remember the name Tyus Edney.

You must be a young one. Norm had some fabulous Mizzou teams.
Also, this reminds me of Quin Snyder Coke Binge.

Stewart never got to a final four. Who is the best NBA player in Mizzou history? Anthony Peeler?

NBA success is not an indicator of college success.
Derrick Chievous
Jon Sundvold
Steve Stipanovich
Larry Drew
Doug Smith
I’m missing a bunch of great players. I am done defending The Slavers.

Very difficult to win big without NBA talent, as their lack of final fours indicate. Unless you’re Rick Barnes, who can’t win no matter his team’s talent level.

Paul Liney, best Mizzou baller ever

Paul O’Liney.
You talk about the final piece of a puzzle. 14-0 Big 8 in 1994 after losing to Arky by 60 in December, without P.O’L.

pretty sure the best Mizzou bball player ever was either Spencer Laurie or Josh Kronke….
