OH, this Fondue pop up ad is FUCKING FANTASTIC. Covering the entire screen in brown liquid is JUST WHAT I WANTED THIS MORNING
/happy fucking monday
January 21st, 2013 at 8:17 AM
I cant even visit this site from my tablet. The ads are completely ridiculous.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:20 AM
After last night, not even bummed I have to work today.
Is the EIC taking the day off?
January 21st, 2013 at 8:23 AM
Melting chocolate on my screen? Fuck this.
Isn’t everyone???
January 21st, 2013 at 8:24 AM
If you send an email to McTibble, he can forward it to the people who make ad decisions. It’s harder to relay comments.

Today is my last day at work. Off for the rest of the week before starting the new job next Monday. Chicago roundup crew — I’ll be in the windy city next Monday and Tuesday for some training. Stay right on the loop. Recommendations for food/beers?
January 21st, 2013 at 8:26 AM
not unless you work in banking/government
January 21st, 2013 at 8:27 AM
There’s a two-story (!) McDonalds on Michigan Ave, I believe.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:27 AM
can I get the 3 minutes back that I spent reading that? I don’t have a receipt, but I have the card I used though.

it’s a meme, not a question

Nope. I don’t have a day off during the weekday until Memorial Day.

January 21st, 2013 at 8:29 AM
The only way I am getting through the next few weeks is imagining every day is my last day at work for a few months. One of these days, I’ll be right..
January 21st, 2013 at 8:30 AM
So how badly did Vegas take it in the ass on BAL +9? Stuff I saw on the tweeter claimed that 90+% of the money coming in on that game was on BAL.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:30 AM
Wow. Credit to the old dude target for trying to fight back with a gun in his face. The beat-down was hilarious. Were people coming in from the hallway to get a turn?
Stupid shooter, to try that with no exfiltration plan.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:30 AM
that one went right by me
not from Chicago but I’ve always wanted to try Hot Doug’s, no idea where it is in relation to you
January 21st, 2013 at 8:30 AM
Yes! The assassination link I sent in was included in the roundup. Watch the beatdown that gets!
January 21st, 2013 at 8:31 AM

I never understood that line. I had both dogs this weekend, because of the value. I actually would have advised taking the money line on Atlanta. At some point this ‘blowing playoff games’ is going to be a trend and not a coincidence.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:33 AM
sure seems like it. also …

9-1 on NFL playoff picks ATS, except for the bloody Broncos.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:35 AM
I tried to tell everyone who would listen not to pick them. Same logic I used to say go heavy on Atl. Had I put the money on it, would have/could have been a tough tough loss.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:35 AM
So, sometime over the course of last week, my health insurance decided that I didn’t need to cover my child anymore and didn’t bother to inform me. So yesterday when I went to pick up his Rx and was charged “retail” price, I wanted to commit fucking murders.
Should be rich to hear why.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:36 AM
I have trouble believing that, considering the line didnt go down much, if it did at all. Vegas is in the business of setting a line in order to get close to equal betting on both sides, no? If Baltimore was getting such heavy action, shouldn’t the line have moved?
January 21st, 2013 at 8:37 AM
That was one of the dumbest lines I’ve ever seen for a title game between two teams that know each other that well. They deserve to lose their shirts for that stupid call.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:38 AM
WTF, this floors me. The health benefits center is closed for MLK, but the rest of the goddamned company is at work.
Fuck this shit.

Belichick wins yet another NFL douchebag Coach of the Year award.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:40 AM
Same here.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:48 AM
So much responsibility. Trying to do that while working out of the country is more than a notion.
She’s a bit of a dim bulb, eh?
January 21st, 2013 at 8:49 AM
I dont think the South gets today off.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:50 AM
do you have to submit a yearly COB form for your overall insurance plan or SSN verification for your kid? I have to do both every year. Do you remember seeing anything asking for any dependent information updates?
January 21st, 2013 at 8:52 AM
Nope. I have the info, but I don’t recall being asked for it.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:59 AM
Mint – went through something similar on this end, but not as severe. When my youngest was born and I added him to my coverage, the clowns in HR decided to remove vision coverage for the rest of my family. Billing on the yearly eye checkup was entertaining
January 21st, 2013 at 9:00 AM
TBL – the Purdue – WVU game was in West LaLa, not Morgantown. Beating the piss out of them was still fun though
January 21st, 2013 at 9:09 AM
Speaking of CBB, can we get a Butler post?
January 21st, 2013 at 9:11 AM
Gonna assume Lisk isn’t in charge of headline writing
January 21st, 2013 at 9:13 AM
well, hopefully it is something that is easy to fix like an error when they entered the order in the system, or something went wrong when your insurance provider updated plan information for the new year. That’s why I was asking about the COB or dependent information questions.
The good news is that if it was their error any costs that you had because of that should be reimbursed to you (but will be a pain to get because insurance is always the worst).
January 21st, 2013 at 9:16 AM
Surprised to read he was ejected. Looked like a hard foul with excessive contact while trying to play the ball. He didn’t shove the guy, didn’t hit him in the head, etc. Flagrant 1 warranted, not sure about ejection.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:16 AM
Hot Doug’s is fucking amazing. Unfortunately for Queefer, it is not even close to the loop. It’s way up on the north side.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:21 AM
I’m going to Chicago to visit a friend sometime towards the end of the summer and I am finally going to go there, heard nothing but good things about it
January 21st, 2013 at 9:22 AM
If you’re going on a Saturday, get there early. The line gets crazy pretty quickly.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:23 AM
So that assassination attempt was apparently a hoax.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:23 AM
Purple Pig is a hot spot just north of the river. Kind of a not so well known place in the loop is Millers Pub. It’s an old school sort of place. So many places to find good beers.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Our office removed MLK Day as a holiday this year.
Gotta love lawyers. Run a practice that works with racial discrimination clients, but remove that day while making goddamn sure that every chosen one is allowed to take thirty days a year of holidays.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:27 AM
After reading that entire article, it seems odd to me that the lead here is “why strippers are flocking to ND” instead of a quick sentence mentioning all the rapes and attempted rapes.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Man, you just mad that you don’t get a day off. You don’t care about MLK.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Obviously.
I’m also under the weather so I don’t have the energy to do it myself but craft some sort of witty response based on this page.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:38 AM
Does the USAT umbrella have some financial backing in that cheerleader site? Those links have been so subpar I’ve stopped clicking…yet it seems like 2-3 times a week, we get another link in the RoundUp.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:39 AM
So the attorneys at your office take 30 days of vacation per year?
January 21st, 2013 at 9:39 AM
That Ravens line started at 10 most places and got down to 8 at one point during the week. The public money was actually pretty evenly split, which means the line moved because Vegas saw a lot of sharp money coming in on the Ravens.
And it’s true that during the playoffs and for other heavy betting type games (BCS title games, NFL playoff games, etc.) Vegas doesn’t get cute and tries to get even money on both sides. But that’s not true outside of the heavy action games.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:42 AM
Whenever even the lowest of Jewish celebrations comes up on the calendar it’s like a fucking She’ol town around here.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:42 AM
Ugh I should have gone with rephaite instead of She’ol.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:42 AM
Yeah, Hot Doug’s is really good, but the closet L stop is a mile away. I would go to the Doughnut Vault and if you like modern cuisine, iNG. You would think it would de douchy, but I had the best service I’ve ever had there. For more suggestions try here; there are a ton of restaurant reviews there.

Belichick wins yet another NFL douchebag Coach of the Year award.
Every time Shannon Sharpe is mentioned…
January 21st, 2013 at 9:46 AM
Ha.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:49 AM
While the action was pretty even on this game (whatever sources said Ravens )90% are absolutely wrong), the bolded statement is inaccurate. They def try and get even action on the heaviest bet games (Super Bowls, playoffs, etc.), that’s not remotely true for a typical NFL weekend.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:51 AM
It is very common to see games where 90% of the action is on one team, and Vegas moves the line in the OTHER TEAM’s favor.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:52 AM
That’s an outstanding read.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:52 AM
my new favorite clown on the Hoodie
(FB pic)
January 21st, 2013 at 10:04 AM
So wouldn’t you agree that in this case (afc championship) that if the money was truly 90% on the Ravens, the line would have moved down?
January 21st, 2013 at 10:08 AM
a lot of roundup folks are not weekend folks here so i will repeat for you: go see Mama if you are a horror fan. really well done and brings the fright consistently
for the guys, chastain looks great too
January 21st, 2013 at 10:10 AM
In this case, absolutely. Like I said, the public money was more like 55/45, not the 90 that people have said. When people were talking about 90% of the public action, it was on the money line, not the spread — which is pretty common for a decided underdog.
January 21st, 2013 at 10:20 AM

You know, I was wondering why Ms. Sterger had disappeared from the face of the earth (i.e., the Internet).
January 21st, 2013 at 10:43 AM
Big issue with Hot Doug’s is timing. If you go there on a Wednesday when it opens, you’re fine. If a Friday, you wait an hour.
January 21st, 2013 at 10:47 AM
Three days it takes to get a Stan Musial post?!
January 21st, 2013 at 10:49 AM
Purple Pig, Avec, Sable Kitchen and Bar, Bavette’s are all good spots near/in Chicago’s Loop.
Ravens line dropped to 7.5 by kickoff.

January 21st, 2013 at 11:05 AM
Well no surprise the guy in Arizona is unaware of MLK Jr. Day.
January 21st, 2013 at 11:09 AM
It’s recognized here now. From the early portion of the discussion, seemed like a lot of us were working.
January 21st, 2013 at 11:14 AM
So much for my zinger.
January 21st, 2013 at 12:09 PM
Shanahan locked that thing up in the wildcard round.
January 21st, 2013 at 12:28 PM
Not only do I have to work, I had to get on a damn plane this morning.
And I’m sick with some kind of crud.
So if you flew to FL on a plane from Atlanta this morning near 8:00AM, go stock up on Ricola and saline nasal spray. You’ll need for at least 5 days and likely more.
January 21st, 2013 at 3:18 PM
Happy M.L.Carr day everybody!
