Ballin’: The Lakers Lost to the Raptors, but the Bigger Story is Here Come the Nuggets
Toronto 108, LA Lakers 103: One step forward, two steps back for the Lakers, who lost Dwight Howard to an ejection, and fell to 17-23 in losing their 5th straight on the road. Kobe took 32 shots, missed 22 of them, and turned the ball over six times. Pau Gasol, finally getting some shots (10-of-15), scored 25 points.
Dallas 111, Orlando 105: Wondering how Dirk is doing? In 15 games he’s shooting 40 percent and averaging 13.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. All of those are career lows as he works back from surgery. He’ll be 35 in June. Hey, at least the guy has a title.
Detroit 103, Boston 88: Tough, tough weekend for the city of Boston. Friday night, the Celtics lost at home to the Bulls. Then this game. And the Patriots lost, too. It’s still kind of bizarre to see Boston at 20-20 just shy of halfway through the season. Doc Rivers is unhappy. Six Pistons scored in double figures, led by Andre Drummond’s 16.
Denver 121, Oklahoma City 118, OT: The Nuggets are creepin – they’ve risen to 6th in the West, and it feels like only a matter of time before they pass the Warriors and Grizzlies. George Karl seems to still be tinkering with his depth – nine players were on the court for 16 minutes or more – and unlike the Thunder, you never know where the points are coming from. Corey Brewer came off the bench to score 26 for Denver, and he played valuable minutes late instead of Andre Iguodala. The Thunder as usual, were led by Durant (37) and Westbrook (36), but the two combined to shoot only 4-of-17 on 3-pointers and had 12 turnovers. Durant became the first player in NBA history to make 20 free throws in consecutive games. OKC coach Scott Brooks coached the game despite losing his mother Saturday.

Kobe blamed himself and basically apologized for how poorly he’s shot the last couple games on Twitter. I was shocked.
Unreal that the Lakers are still only 3 games out from the 7 spot.
Bulls 3.5 games back from the 1 seed with Rose yet to play.

I will always kind of hate the Thunder because a game I saw them play at home against the Nuggets they were wearing their home whites but had a shirt giveaway so the crowd was wearing all light blue and it was the same color as the Nuggets’ jerseys. How the fuck are you going to make it look like your crowd is supporting the road team? Anyways.
Any post on Lebron bitching about the Kings sale? (When he is part of an ownership group that bought a soccer team in the same manner)

Nuggets are wildly inconsistent and frustrating. Lose to the Wizards at home on Friday, beat OKC on Sunday.

agreed. feel the same about the Penn State white out and whatever the Coyotes call it.

How soon is it before we can write off the Lakers and not have to worry about them? It has to be soon.

Yeah in hockey they have to do white outs for the teams who have black jerseys as their home ones because the goalies can’t follow the puck with a crowd all wearing black.

Unfortunately the 7-11 teams in the West are going to make me sweat out this lottery pick until the end of the season.
/still better than watching the Suns.

Guy is a fucking idiot. Dribble drive offense should be left in college, and especially so, if it revolves around Ty Lawson and you got no shooters.

Kobe was due for a shooting slump. He wasnt going to shoot 50% a full season, hasnt come close in his career.

Howard continues to be a beacon of poise and maturity.

Western teams are salivating at the thought of playing Denver in round one. Iguodala and Miller are the only guys worth their salt.
January 21st, 2013 at 12:48 PM
yeah, because Faried and McGee are dog crap…right?
January 21st, 2013 at 12:49 PM
Durant with 44 free throws over the past 2 games, while shooting under 50% from the field in each. The refs love them some KD.
January 21st, 2013 at 12:50 PM
Mcgee is garbage, yes. Faried’s ok. An undersized, one skill wonder.
January 21st, 2013 at 12:50 PM
that team in a slow down, half court offense is going to be some doo doo.
January 21st, 2013 at 12:53 PM
he’s actually been good since he was shipped out of Washington.
I don’t trust Denver because of Iguodala more than anything else
January 21st, 2013 at 12:56 PM
Mcgee can’t even get 20 mins of run. He’s worse than Koufos. Iguodala is one of the best/most versatile defenders in the league.
