Syracuse Wins at #1 Louisville: Michael Carter-Williams With the Steal and Dunk Late (Video)
With James Southerland out (suspended indefinitely), Syracuse went into #1 Louisville needing some big performances. They got them from Brandon Triche and Michael Carter-Williams. Triche had a team-high 23 points, and held Syracuse together for large stretches of the game.
Michael Carter-Williams had an uneven game with eight turnovers, but also some of the bigger plays of the game–a three right before the half, a three pointer to give Syracuse the lead with about three minutes left, and the game winning play. Carter-Williams intercepted Peyton Siva’s ill-advised pass and took it to the other end for the dunk that gave the Orangemen the lead for good.

I will watch this game this evening. I was tied up with KU/Texas and then WSU/Creighton. Nobody sleep on WSU. They aren’t even at full strength.

Syracuse is basically going to tell the other BE teams to suck dick this year.

I know the Big 12 is down this year, but Mizzou sucks ass without Bowers. And I hate to love Pressey, but the dude needs help.
Oh, to my point, being in the Big 12 means Mizzou would be the same or worse as being in the SEC.
January 19th, 2013 at 8:46 PM
Thanks, Joe. It appears I can’t watch it. http://goaztecs.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/011713aaa.html
Which is fine. I’ve got our school playing Semi Ojeleye tonight. Ku didn’t recruit him even though Ottawa is a healthy shit away from Lawrence. He’s going to Duke. He’s got the body, but he needs a couple years of work. Still, he eats up small town Kansas white boys. Someone to keep an eye out on for the next couple of years.

Is it really BFE network and you turned it into bumfuck, or did you create BFE?

There’s a lot of BFEs up around my brother. Not networks. Just places. Gotta drive almost an hour to get to anything. Bout have to stop for gas on the way to the gas station. WHAT…is this backwoods hillbilly ass SHIT?!
January 19th, 2013 at 9:16 PM
Made it up since game was in wyo. They are now up to bigten level… 45-35 or so with a couple minutes left
January 19th, 2013 at 9:23 PM
Made it up since game was in wyo.
That would make sense. Only place I imagine being much more desolate is North Dakota and parts of Alaska.
January 19th, 2013 at 9:24 PM
On the ‘Zags -2 and KY -10 tonight, plus a bunch of bets on the fights (already hit Barboza, Nurmagadegov, and an inside distance bet). Don’t like Butler without Clarke, and I thought they were overachieving with him.
1-2 on hoops so far today. Lost Kansas (didn’t cover) and Temple (lost outright!), hit the OVER in FLA/Mizzou.
January 19th, 2013 at 9:25 PM
Got a cross-bet going on the next UFC fight (Rothwell – Gonzaga). Have both fighters to win inside distance (both bets pay out at +140 or better), and another bet that the fight doesn’t go the distance. So, I don’t care who wins, as long as it ends early.
January 19th, 2013 at 9:25 PM
Nurmagadegov
You should get a $10 bonus if you can pronounce that correctly.
January 19th, 2013 at 9:35 PM
Oh crap. This HW fight consisted of laying on each other for the 1st round. They might not have enough energy to finish it in either of the next two rounds. I might have to hope for a heart attack.
January 19th, 2013 at 9:37 PM
Thank you – the guillotine didn’t take much to finish an exhausted fatass.
January 19th, 2013 at 9:38 PM
The Rockets are an embarrassment right now. Getting beat handily by the ‘Wolves without Love, Shved, Pekovic, Cunningham. Otherwise known as three of their top four players and their best bench guy.
/bet on Hou
//at least Kings covered and hit under
January 19th, 2013 at 9:44 PM
For any degenerates out there, very good value bet on Dalloway to win inside distance in the next fight (I got it at +600). Sarafian is the favorite based on what he did on TUF-Brazil, but Dalloway has fought better competition and has finished his opponent in 8 of his 12 wins.

Did you guys see the story where the guy outsourced his own job? Made like $250,000 a year, and his company thought they were being hacked by the Chinese. Come to find out he was paying some Chinese dude $50,000 a year to do his job for him so he could watch videos, shop on Ebay and surf Facebook all day.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:00 PM
Meth – If I recall that story was linked in the roundup one day this week.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:03 PM
Meth is furiously scheming now
January 19th, 2013 at 10:06 PM
Dammit – Sarafian saved by the bell. I win money either way as long as either Sarafian wins or Dalloway wins with a KO/finish. Dalloway by decision is my only downfall.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:08 PM
when does the NHL season start? soon, right?
January 19th, 2013 at 10:09 PM
Meth is furiously scheming now
I don’t need to scheme to not do anything here. Ebay doesn’t work here, Facebook doesn’t work here (don’t use it anyways), and the only videos this computer ever lets me play is movie previews and GIFs, but neither of those really count. And I don’t make anyways near even the 50 thousand Ching Chang Chooie was making off the guy.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:09 PM
They’re awful. Worst frontcourt and least NBA talent they’ve had in 20 years. Aside from maybe Daniels, there ain’t a decent pro on the roster.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:10 PM
Meth – If I recall that story was linked in the roundup one day this week.
Looks like I pulled a Duckworth’d or whatever it’s called.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:13 PM
Dammit – Dalloway had 2 chances to finish (end of the 2nd, and full mount to start the 3rd). Hopefully the decision goes to Sarafian and I get some $.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:14 PM
Shit.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:16 PM
Sabres host those dirty bastards from Philly tomorrow. Hockey hockey hockey!
January 19th, 2013 at 10:17 PM
Who does the commentariat like tomorrow? Thinking of teasing ATL and Balt. That would be at 9.5-10 (at HOME) and 14 respectively. Can’t lose that right?
January 19th, 2013 at 10:18 PM
No clue how betting works..but i think Baltimore will cover but lose..San Fran will win big
January 19th, 2013 at 10:23 PM
Both dogs. Fair spreads would be SF -1.5 and NE -5.5 IMO.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:23 PM
I like both ‘dogs to cover but lose. I will most likely bet on ATL (+5) and BAL (+9). Also like UNDER 49 in ATL/SF.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:24 PM
WTF was that call in the BUT/GONZ game? He wasn’t out of bounds.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:25 PM
Pats over is 12-5 this year FWIW
January 19th, 2013 at 10:27 PM
where are you buying the +5 line at? I am seeing 3.5 and 4. I freaking hate the niners and sometimes it clouds my judgement. I like the Falcons at +3.5, but am scared of getting super-necked by Kaep again.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:29 PM
Bovada – they tend to shift the line a little when heavy public teams (like SF) are involved.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:31 PM
I’m more worried about Vernon Davis than Kaepernik tomorrow.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:32 PM
I can’t get on board with Falcons covering. I think they’re going to get fucked heavily. Rode hard and hung up wet.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:32 PM
I think ATL dline decides the game either way.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:33 PM
I’m not even putting any cards in. I’m done for the season. The new playoff cards have bullshit payouts. Not even worth it.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:33 PM
On Bisping here in the main event. As long as he survives the early blitz from Belfort he should be able to control the boxing and avoid takedowns.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:34 PM
Roth, what site do you bet MMA on?
January 19th, 2013 at 10:36 PM
Is crabtree plAying for sure? I imagine yes since no charge or arrest
January 19th, 2013 at 10:37 PM
I think ATL dline decides the game either way.
Interesting. They’ve used Bierman as the spy against Newton, Wilson. They got their yards but they didn’t decide the games. I think that’s the key – don’t let the QBs legs decide the game.
I still can’t believe how badly GB defended the niners. But of course, Clay Matthews is a self-centered renegade and was completely embarrassed.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:38 PM
Crabtree is here in Atl so I assume he’s good to go.

January 19th, 2013 at 10:39 PM
But of course, Clay Matthews is a self-centered renegade
He spent too much time admiring his own Fatheads instead of watching game film.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:39 PM
Novac – I have a Bovada account
January 19th, 2013 at 10:40 PM
I like Bisping in this fight simply because he told Vitor “Jesus isn’t real” at the weigh in.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:42 PM
He spent too much time admiring his own Fatheads
I was completely fed up with him before that commercial. I believe there’s just a little too much truth in that commercial. He’s a jackass.
Funny how Rogers and Woodson basically thinks Matthews is a showboater and camera hog.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:43 PM
Wow – Belfort with high kick finishes Bisping
January 19th, 2013 at 10:44 PM
Damn, Jesus came through I guess.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:45 PM
I believe there’s just a little too much truth in that commercial. He’s a jackass.
@ solid fucking statements right there. I thought the same thing watching it. I actually could see him showing a photo album to a friend or family member and pointing to himself saying, “That’s just a hot pic.”

January 19th, 2013 at 10:46 PM
Novac Chokeabitch
Been meaning to commend you on your name.
Good job. Good effort. I laugh every time I see it.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:48 PM
What’s Matthews contract situation? He’s gotta be destined for some crappy ass team as an overpaid “critical defensive piece”.
Jaguars? Raiders? Cowboys?
January 19th, 2013 at 10:50 PM
Very interested to see how Nolan plays it. I don’t know if there is a defensive lineman in the league that is capable of spying Kaep. Too much speed. I’m guessing a lot of zone coverage, thinking they’ll probably have to limit Kaep the old fashioned way, good rush lane discipline. Mix in some zone blitzes too, but that requires winning first and second down to be in position to do so.
IMO ATL wr/te and SF oline are the two best units in the league, so should be an awesome game no matter which offense is on the field. SF oline obviously have the capability of embarrassing ATL, particularly in the run game, which is why I say dline is the key to the game. Need to at least be competitive.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:51 PM
He’s gotta be destined for some crappy ass team as an overpaid “critical defensive piece”.
Leave that to my favorite franchise. Dolphins like using their highest draft pick on players and then trading them away not long after for peanuts and cracker jacks.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:51 PM

Thanks, Squawk. It will be funny until the real Novak gets busted for domestic violence, then it will be hilarious. I can only hope some euro slut crosses him.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:53 PM
Pens guaranteeing themselves at least a split with the back-to-back to start the season at PHI/NYR with the win today is huge. Couldn’t afford to give both of them 2 points to start the year in this short season.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:53 PM
Plus Matthews has some mongoloid in him
Seriously? I never would’ve guessed.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:53 PM
Matthews was a really late bloomer. I wonder if all those years of mediocrity repressed his inner arrogance.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:54 PM
Thats poor work from the grizz srod…no deng…ot in boston last night and grizz were up big
January 19th, 2013 at 10:55 PM
He probably has some local gangster ties to sweep that stuff under the rug. He’s Serbian, after all.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:55 PM
I take it you’re a Penguins fan, Reoth? That’s the only time I’ll watch hockey is when I catch them on. Used to be a lot more into hockey when I was a kid. I don’t think there was a square inch of my walls that weren’t covered with Jagr posters.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:56 PM
OK – I think my KY bet is safe. They’re up 26 with 4 minutes to go. I would hope they don’t blow a -10 spread.
Now, let’s the Zags going.
/doesn’t really matter – put twice as much $ on KY so 1-1 on NCAA this evening is still a profit.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:56 PM
Plus I totally spelled Novak wrong when I created the name, so someone can steal it and make it correct.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:57 PM
Vez, just watched Conley get a 5-second call on an inbounds pass. Grizz missed probably 10 FTs in 4th qtr/OT.
They won 85-82, but it was pissing me off to watch them blow a 17-pt 3rd qtr lead.
Matt Winer was asked why Joakim Noah didn’t play in OT, and Winer responded Joakim was “Noah to be found”…(I love a bad pun).

Stockton’s kid with a huge 3. Now go throw an elbow to a cutter through the lane.

January 19th, 2013 at 11:02 PM
The Malone elbow on Thomas was one of my favorite dirty plays ever. Short of Laimbeer, who got his many times, it’s tough to name a more deserving recipient.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:04 PM
Matt Winer was asked why Joakim Noah didn’t play in OT, and Winer responded Joakim was “Noah to be found”…(I love a bad pun).
Good shit. It’d been even better if Matt’s last name was pronounced Weiner.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:04 PM
I hated the Pistons so much – Thomas, Laimbeer, Rodman, Mahorn, etc. Salley was the only one who I remotely liked.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:08 PM
Mahorn, a Hartford legend. Definitely on the list of guys you’d never want to mess with, under any circumstances. It’s a shame the Bad Boys had to be on the Pistons, because individually I like almost every player. That’s my brand of hoops. Dumars and the Worm are two guys who never get enough due IMO
January 19th, 2013 at 11:10 PM
OK – let’s make 1 of 2 and send this baby to OT so I have a chance to cover.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:10 PM
“Noah to be found”
I approve.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:11 PM
Dumars was OK too (more than OK as a player).
January 19th, 2013 at 11:13 PM
OOH – big travel. Now they have to foul!
/please make both FTs
January 19th, 2013 at 11:13 PM
What a finish – how can they not call the two handed shove to steal the inbounds!
January 19th, 2013 at 11:14 PM
HOLY SHIT
January 19th, 2013 at 11:15 PM
What.a.game. Three great games in a row on ESPN. SU-Ville, OSU-Sparty, and Zags-Butler
January 19th, 2013 at 11:19 PM
RIP to Stan the Man.
Malone was distraught at the sight of watching Isiah make Stockton his bitch for the second game in a row. Isiah was responding to being left off of the Dream Team and the ridiculousness of Stockton being named ahead of him. Isiah responded by dropping 40 on Stockton, Malone responded by throwing an elbow. That as much as anything captures why Isiah has 2 rings, and the Mailman doesn’t deliver on Sundays.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:22 PM
Butler will definitely crack the top 10 this week. 3-0 vs top 10 opponents this season? Dayum
January 19th, 2013 at 11:27 PM
That was mainly Jordan’s issue. Stockton was 11-8 against Thomas. Thomas outscored Stockton 23 PPG to 13 PPG in those games, but took twice as many shots to get that disparity. Stockton with more assists, steals and less TO’s.
Was Thomas better, absolutely, but “bitch” is a little strong.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:32 PM
When they announced the Dream Team, I believe Detroit played Utah that night or the night after and Isiah had a statement game against Stockton. They wound up playing again around a week later and he was on the verge of doing the same thing and Malone threw the elbow.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:34 PM
An all-time great. RIP, indeed.

I’m with ya Roeth. I took Zags -2.5 and thought what luck when they called Butler for traveling with 4.9 secs left.
Lot of Homer calls tonite by the refs. GONZ was a very physical team, BUT had no answer for Harris early on. BUT did hit alot of key shots at different times during the game, but alot of questionable calls.
