Peter King’s New Sports Illustrated Deal: 5-years, Larger Web Presence
Peter King has signed a new 5-year deal to stay at Sports Illustrated after rebuffing offers from NBC, ESPN and the NFL Network, a source close to the negotiations said. The news broke a week ago, but details are only now emerging. Here’s what we’ve got:
* A source says King spoke with ESPN and the NFL Network, but his most intense discussions were with NBC. The new deal at SI will not impact his Sunday Night Football on NBC gig, which has one more year left on it.
* Expect to see a little less of King in the magazine – which he’s already not in a ton to begin with – and more of him on SI.com, where he is their No. 1 traffic draw. A source says Sports Illustrated plans to formally announce King’s new deal and some sort of new web plan for him in the coming weeks.
King didn’t reply to an email request.

Hmmm, explains why SI has been too busy to delve into that whole Teo thing.

All we need to see is a larger Peter King.

where he is their No. 1 traffic draw.
Amazing.
/looks at the writers featured on CNNSI right now.
Oh, my.

I bet it involves more 2 minutes video clips of him talking. I have no idea why SI thinks anyone would want to watch those.

you know i was just thinking, the internet needed, one… maybe two things to really put it over the top. and more Peter King was both of those things.

Peter King is really looking these days like the love child of Norm Peterson and Rex Ryan.

Semi-qausi-biggish news.

or why they think people will watch them at work, when i bet most people like me can’t actually watch them.
and how many people read SI at home on the internet?

I’m assuming MMQB is the most popular sports column. I don’t know though

Lofty contract renewel.

I’m sure it’s very popular but the point is people use it as a time-waster when they get to work on Monday mornings because they don’t want to work. When I don’t get it Monday morning it’s not like I go home and say, “Shit, I didn’t read MMQB, better read it now”.

Not among people tastefully named Gregggggggg.
January 18th, 2013 at 5:23 PM
Was he still writing MMQB in that time? If so, showing a lack of integrity there

HOW DID YOU GET THIS EMAIL ADDRESS!

The list of sports journalists/broadcasters etc more annoying than Peter King is very short:
Joe Buck, Dierdorf, Mike Florio, Joe Buck 5 more times, that’s about it.

The only thing I’m hoping is that we can get someone better than Mike Tunison to do the MMQB takedowns. They’re decent but not great, less is more with those like Drew’s takedowns of Easterbrook’s garage. Other than that, fuck Peter King and his fucking moral high ground.

I think that I know more about about King’s family then I do my neighbors, and I have lived here for five years, and we barbecue monthly.
