OK, say that’s true. He said he told ND on 12/6. The title game was a month later. He talked about her in interviews leading up to that game.
I feel like T’eo is a lot smarter than people want to believe. I think he and his friend built themselves these outs should they ever be discovered. I’m not saying he Keyser Sozed the entire thing and specifically used words like “talked” and “spoke” with the media to protect himself on technicalities. Rather, there was a general conversation at the beginning where they all discussed how to present this story in order to leave themselves outs.
Maybe that’s too tin foil hatty. I can’t shake the feeling that something really stinks about this, though. And I’m really skeptical that Teo decided to go to ND with this right after Deadspin started sniffing around. He knew he was caught.

That is the confusing part about this. He said the “met” after a Stanford game a few years ago, now he claims she was just an online girlfriend.
I heard Gene Wojehowski say after he interviewed Te’o he asked for pictures of “the girlfriend” and if he could contact her family, and Te’o said no. He didnt pursue it out of respect for the family who had just lost their daughter…allegedly. But noticed there were no obits, or any reports of her car accident.

The common thread is idol fraud.
I’m talking about the first day. There were 100 reporters outside of Paternos house. The entire country KNEW he helped rape kids within hours of the story breaking. Narrative was formed and delivered without a second to examine the facts. The media – conned so thoroughly here – seem to be taking a far more cautious approach to a far less serious situation.

Full disclosure: I’m an Irish football fan.
I don’t see why the Te’o story is such a big deal. If the deadspin story is right then Te’o emabarrassed himself and by proxy, Notre Dame. He will fall a bit in the draft. But no laws were broken and the Irish won’t receive sanctions.
Jerry Sandusky and Penn State’s coverup is FAR WORSE than this Te’o business.
People will say if affected the Heisman and all that. No it didn’t. The Heisman is an offensive award. Woodson won because he returned kicks, not because he played D. He got the most votes any defender is likely to get for a long time. Te’o still would’ve had a great season. People break rules in recruiting. This is nothing.

Ah man, I was horrible last nite. 0-2. Took the RICH +9 pick and MIA -6 on the road vs BC. MIA won in the last 30 secs and BC got fouled with no time left on the clock while a guy was shooting a 3pt! MIA announcer went ballistic. He made the 1st 2 FTs, missed the 3rd for the tie. I was hoping he’d make it and force OT.
RICH got it 41-50 with 7 min left and then faded. I got to take a few days off and regroup.

This I agree with. Other linebackers had similar, even better seasons, yet Teo was invited to the Heisman ceremony. some of that had to do with ND and the perfect season, lots of it had to do with the personal story that, if you recall, really put him in the map leading up to the MSU game and the UM game (on the day of his girlfriends funeral).
Agreement stops here. ESPN, NBC, SI, et al, don’t seems to be grinning with glee. Alabama did more to expose him as a fraud than this.

I heard something last year, that one NFL insider said 13-16 teams will just remove a player from their boards when they think he’s got too many character issues. The others will just lower their value of a guy. So yeah, this removes him from almost half the teams boards most likely. Don’t say it doesn’t hurt his value. It strains credulity to think that the timing of Teo telling Notre Dame just happens to coincide with Deadspin starting to poke around. He knew he was about to be exposed and went to Notre Dame for cover.
not sure the media coverage of the hoax would have meshed with the team’s focus/prep for the NCG

I know when my aunt applied to the FBI years ago she had to take the ASVAB test because she didn’t have a score on file. I would assume that all of the federal agencies have access to those scores as a baseline. It wouldn’t surprise me if there is some sort of basic psychological evaluation built into those tests.
I know I got a call from the Navy recruiter after I took mine and he wanted to talk about a career in Naval Intelligence, but that there would be several more tests to take. I’m guessing they look for identifying markers in the series of tests to see who they really want to go after or follow through their college careers.
