Johnny Manziel and His Model Girlfriend Sat Courtside at the Rockets – Clippers Game
Johnny Manziel and his model girlfriend, Sarah Savage, attended last night’s Clippers – Rockets game in Houston. Floor seats for the Rockets taking on one of the two best teams in the NBA? Those must be expensive. Especially for a college kid. Right? In December Manziel sat courtside at a Mavericks game, which got a reaction from Steve Kerr. Manziel said those seats were a birthday present to himself. (He also went to another Rockets game where he struck the Heisman pose with James Harden just like every other Texas A&M student-athlete always does.)
Personally, I think Manziel should be able to accept all the free tickets in the world. To borrow a term from the business world, Johnny Football – and Texas A&M’s trademark – made his university an “assload” of money. Also, there is the whole “amateurism in major college athletics is a joke” thing.

I don’t know if Johnny Football’s family has money, but he sure does sit courtside at a lot of NBA games.

My feeling is that if this were a compliance issue, he wouldn’t have done it again after the first one.

Get back to your lowly caste kind serf.

His family has a shit-load of money. In the oil business.

Something of value for tattoos not is not OK, yet nothing of value for courtside NBA tix is OK.
Makes sense.

I imagine this is how the first time they met went:
“I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party.”
“Excuse me?”
“The party…with the pants. The party with the pants.”
“Are you saying there is a party in your pants and I’m invited?”
Kid looks to be about as bright as Brick.

I love it when a player does something, the assumption is that some shady booster paid for it and the NCAA rules are awful, etc.
The reality is, Manziel saved his family upwards of $100,000 or so by getting a scholarship, and since they aren’t in the poorhouse, they have some extra income to spend on their kid. Big freaking deal.

Or, maybe his girlfriend has some money too. Maybe she’s the one that bought the tickets.

I think more of the outrage is rooted in selective enforcement. While some programs get “taken down” for innocuous violation of the draconian NCAA laws (that often times give no real advantage), others are are justified by any means necessary.

Dude, you’re so serious. Calm down.

Not a dunk.
Also, way too much make-up. I believe we describe her as “meh” in these parts

this after the aggie AD sat manziel down to tell him to tap the breaks on twitter, public outings, etc. looks like it didnt take.
I get the feeling he will be in trouble soon.

Why?
I remember Brodie Croyle drove a brand new Range Rover when he was at Bama. What’s the difference? His parents were loaded and bought him flashy stuff.

I, too, ask why? What could possibly be wrong with a sports dude going to a basketball game? Of all the things he could be “into”, this seems the least problematic. Does the information people have given here about the financial resources of the family (oil, real estate, just to name a few) make any difference to critics? When Johnny said he’d “been doing this stuff before & nobody cared”, people thought he meant partying. But he’s been going to sports events with very good seats long before this season. There is absolutely no reason why he should change that. Like Sumlin said, “Winning the Heisman shouldn’t be a punishment.”

Agree that it’s his beating up black folk that is the issue.

What is more expensive, having a couple kids as a college student or attending a hand full of basketball games?
Why do idiots continue to pretend that this is more extravagant than the shoe collection that Marquis Goodwin constantly tweets about or the fuck trophies that a good percentage of college football players have?
