In the middle of the night, the Bears hired Marc Trestman to be their new coach. He spent the last eight years in the CFL and at NC State. We’ll have more later, but GM Phil Emery seems to be willing to stake his future in the NFL in this boom/bust hire. [Tribune]

It sucks to be a high schooler swimming against Missy Franklin, the Olympic champ.
Read this yesterday. I expect kids to be whiny jerks, but the opposing coach was a whiny jerk too. Your job in high school is to teach these kids. Its a good thing for them to get their ass kicked every once in a while. Builds character.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
Seems to me like she had it coming to her.
Meh, your 15 minutes are up. I see celebrity rehab in your future.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
Marc Trestman?
/pours one out for SouvenirCity
January 16th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
Glad it wasn’t Eleanor Rigby, she was old wasn’t in the Beatles song? or at least lived a lonely life.
The Brits do it right.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
The Washington Nationals have added another Scott Boras client – reliever Rafael Soriano, 2 years, $28 million.
Is this worth a first round pick? I guess they’re all in for the next couple of years.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
That line about the emojis was actually pretty funny.
So high school swimmers don’t enjoy competing against a superhuman Olympic gold medalist? Huh.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
noted heckler beats speeding ticket in court in impressive fashion
American Hero. Fuck those Big Brother cameras.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
-5 paolo points for no dashcam video of the actual goring.
poor form, tbl.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
Interesting idea. Storm and Psylocke are no-brainers. If the series last long enough, you just know Jean Grey will return. Again.
Scott Boras Runs the Nationals
I don’t care if Linus & Lucy run the Nationals, as long as this team gets a World Series title. Maybe this year is the year.
Soriano was a good signing. LaRoche re-signing was a boost. Still need LHP help in the ‘pen.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
I bet the gored chick is a proponent of poaching rhinos this morning.
January 16th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
oh well. then quit.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
here are some photos of Megan Fox in the new Esquire …
Lesson: Don’t talk shit about Speilberg.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
natural selection at it’s finest.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
Exactly. If I was in high school, I’d wait all year to have a chance to get crushed by Franklin. It’s a great experience that builds character.

RE: NFL Draft Prediction. Sharrif Floyd to the Vikings? Seems like a bigger reach than any receiver. I wouldn’t be shocked to see MN trade up for Williams or Allen. Harvin might be used as trade bait along with a couple picks.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
Leonard Pitts eviscerates Rob Parker in that article.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
jeebus.

It sucks to be a high schooler swimming against Missy Franklin, the Olympic champ.
Weak sauce.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
Same comments apply here relative to the Missy Franklin stuff. Don’t like it – tough titties. It wasn’t disrespectful – you got your ass kicked.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
It sucks to be a high schooler swimming against Missy Franklin, the Olympic champ
Talk about a whiny ass people. Its not fair, boo hoo. You know what? Swim faster!
January 16th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
fuck yes.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
a guy in the management company that collected the dues for my neighborhoods HOA back in Florida told me he lien threat from HOA’s is just that, a threat. he said they can file a lien but it doesn’t hold up in court.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
Always skeptical of these kind of stories. Sure, they found 3-4 people to say that they don’t like competing against her. But I bet overwhelming majority of other swimmers were thrilled to get a chance to compete against her and hang out with her at a meet.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
God I hate that song
January 16th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
But the problem is that most times you don’t even know about it until the title report is run on your property when you try to sell/refinance. Then you have to go through the trouble of getting it removed through the legal process. I’m sure it’s a complete pain in the ass.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
GOOOORE GOOOORE GOOOOORE!!
January 16th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
Meh, your 15 minutes are up. I see celebrity rehab in your future.
Did you read the interview? She is clinically insane. I’ve never read anything about her other than her soul purpose on Earth was to be eye candy in the Transformers movies. The woman is crazy.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
Always skeptical of these kind of stories.
How can you doubt the stellar reporting of Stu Woo?
January 16th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
the Star Advertiser returns that favor by posting a photo of our son “presumably” being “bowled over” by the Alabama RB (Eddie Lacy).
Dude, there’s photographic evidence. He did get trucked. slow your roll.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
Parents, too, apparently. I didn’t read the article, but I thought I heard she was swimming an abbreviated schedule, just to fulfill her commitment to her teammates. Where was everyone bitching when they had to play against LeBron in high school?
#1 requirement when we bought our place: stand-alone property with no HOA. My house, my property no one* tells me what to do with it.
*except my wife, obviously
January 16th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
/stops paying HOA
January 16th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
Psylocke was so hot. Why do they have to cram Jubilee in there? She’s the worst.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
So that guy from BYU who only played football a few years, goes 12th to Miami. Hankins, who will anchor a d-line for 10-12 years, goes 30th. Got it.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
Always skeptical of these kind of stories. Sure, they found 3-4 people to say that they don’t like competing against her
It was one team and their coach. They win the state title every year, and this chick could fuck it up. Total sour grapes.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Wow, Leonard Pitts really knocked that one out of the park!
January 16th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
my best friend wrestled Olympian Jake Herbert 3 times his senior year. at least Franklin gets her own lane. try being physically matched up in a 1 on 1 situation with someone who is top 5 in the world
January 16th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
There’s always barber college
January 16th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
Aren’t we all amazed that JDiddy failed to either read or understand the article?
January 16th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
They’re all a bunch of whiny bitches, but if my golf team in high school played Tiger Woods, I’m pretty sure I’d have walked off the course after his first tee shot.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed today.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
a guy in the management company that collected the dues for my neighborhoods HOA back in Florida told me he lien threat from HOA’s is just that, a threat. he said they can file a lien but it doesn’t hold up in court.
/stops paying HOA
pretty sure that isn’t true.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
Those guys have the right idea. No endless planning, no excruciating ceremony, no 10 hours of pictures. Just go to city hall and sign the document.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
same here. if
my wifewe wanted to paint our front door red,Iwe didn’t want to walk around to each house and petition for the ability formy wifeus to do that.January 16th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
Psylocke drawn by Jim Lee was insanely hot. Jubilee means obligatory Wolverine cameo when sales drop (around issue #2).
This relaunch really is Marvel’s “Birds of Prey”. Nothing new between the Big 2.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
id have fucking loved to played him in HS. it’s not like football where you could get seriously hurt…it’d be great to have that inside-the-ropes view.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
narrows down the choices unfortunately. our HOA down in FL was $65 a month. our HOA here in TN is $38 a month.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
Gonna take me another couple episodes of Justified to get used to the kid from Jurassic Park beng the creepy snake-handling preacher
They were just trying to avoid a drunk Lee Corso delivering a toast that runs 7 minutes long during dinner
January 16th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
Glad I didn’t take this game. I was about to go ND -6, a bounce back from the UCONN loss, bust decided at the last minute not to. STJ played with some fire and hustle.
Waited to 8pm and played the NOIA +12 vs CREI game. Lucky cover at the end with a 2pt put back with 12 secs left. CREI had a bunch of homer refs last nite. McDermott gets alot of benefit of the doubts on calls
January 16th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
Why? That would have been cool to play against him in high school. Plus maybe the rest of his team sucked and your school could win.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
Disappointed Lafayette, LA wasn’t on the list. Thought that town was on par with New Orleans.
/can’t wait to eat at Prejean’s again
January 16th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
Grow a pair, you pussy. Your sons team got trucked. Deal with it.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
for small stuff like that, I just do it. we’ll be painting the shutters and front door at the new house this spring. I’m not asking the HOA if I can change it from dark green to black.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
i like to think he is the character from Jurassic Park and this is what happens when dinosaurs almost eat you when you’re 10 years old. you worship snakes and become a preacher.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
They’ve got some good young pieces. Obekpa can sure block shots, but that 24% free throw percentage needs just a little work.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
Wrong side of the floor. Think I pulled something important in my back.
But the sensationalized headline is completely misleading. I was expecting some entertaining high school girl anger.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Good point about Wolverine. Psylocke in her prime right here.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
Indeed. I could listen to Boyd recite the Bible for a while though. Whats Boyds new henchmen from?
January 16th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
The Bears hire Marc Trestman. Totally underwhelming. I was actually worried for a bit there they’d get Bruce Arians.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
apparently where my in-laws live there was only 3-4 colors you could put on the house. black, beige, grey or olive. the HOA lost their shit when they did paint their front door a deep maroon, required her to paint over it, then petition the entire subdivision for something like 80% approval to get it painted red.
buncha fuckin’ Napoleonic bastards get elected to HOA presidents it seems.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
i wonder if french canadians surrender politely.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
Any of you Breaking Bad watchers see the clip of Aaron Paul on the Price is Right 14 years ago? What a dork he was. Funny thing is he almost won the entire showcase.
/have to get past annoying hulu ad.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
He’s been around but of course the only thing popping in my head without looking at IMDB is Mystery, Alaska (Russell Crowe’s finest work)
January 16th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
can’t stand him. absolute debacle as a Piston.
ha! that guy does not know what he is talking about. An HOA in Florida can foreclose a lien and kick you out on the street.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
what is the tastiest town in the South?
Please note they have Austin, TX in there, which I thought was not the South.
Personally, Charleston was disappointing.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Speaking of Jurrasic Park, that kid’s sister gave one of the worst child actor performance in that movie. She was so horrible. Her entire acting arsenal consisted of making her eyes really big and breathing heavily.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
Back in the day when Jack Nicklaus was at OSU, Jack shot like 25 under and OSU won the Big 10, even though the rest of the teams was like +50.
/Nont sure what that says about Big 10 golf
January 16th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
Whats Boyds new henchmen from?
That’s Mitch Hedberg.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
Trestman is capable but he’ll need to prove he can round out a proper coaching staff. I’d rather have him than Arians.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
Seriously? Where did you eat? I went two summers in a row a few years ago and loved it.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
Sorry to hear that. I’ve enjoyed many trips to Charleston, food is great.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
buncha fuckin’ Napoleonic bastards get elected to HOA presidents it seems.
Ours is like a mini George Zimmerman. Carries a fucking gun on his ankle to walk his dog in probably one of the safest suburbs in the State.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
I lost that one by a half point
/kicks rock
//also lost a late cover on the Cincy-DePaul game
///kicks another rock
January 16th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
Ava has gone completely dark now. No more cute little bad girl.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
Ahhh. Yep. Thats the one. “And shes riding me like a wet walrus”.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
if she kept that up as an adult she’d probably win AVN’s best anal award every year.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Holy shit that’s hilarious. “TWELVE HUNDRED BUCKS!!!”
January 16th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Personally, Charleston was disappointing.
not for me. i thought there were a ton of good spots, starting with 82Queen.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Unstoppable in NBA Jam
January 16th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
damn, ours is $25 a year and I still bitch about paying it. mostly because the lady that runs the POA is a total bitch and selective about what she enforces, but damn even $38 a month seems like a lot.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Whats Boyds new henchmen from?
He’s been around but of course the only thing popping in my head without looking at IMDB is Mystery, Alaska (Russell Crowe’s finest work)
I’m gonna say Boyd has him take care of Johnny (for good) by episode 7.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
I don’t think I’ve not laughed at one of his jokes.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
He was damn good in The Pacific, actually. SLEDGEHAMMER!
Ron Eldard is probably best know for ER.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
If my kid (still getting used to saying that) lost a swim meet to Franklin, I would tell her to be happy that she can now claim to have competed against an Olympian. How many people can say that?
January 16th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
what is the tastiest town in the South? Durham,NC probably would not get my vote. Great brews in Asheville…still need to open my quart of Highland Cold Mountain Ale.
/me and my horsey and a quart of beer
//pours one out for MCA
January 16th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Yeah, the ironic thing about the reaction to the Missy Franklin article (which based on the reaction posts, most people didn’t actually read) is there is more whining by posters on here reacting to some 100-2 basketball score, or to the Grinnell system kid scoring all of those points, than there is any kind of whining by kids or parents in that article. But of course, you’d find that out by reading the article.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
How about Wisconsin going into Assembly Hall and imposing their kind of game on Indiana? Maybe he just needed a bit of gametime but Traevon Jackson looked like a completely different player. It’s weird seeing them beat Indiana after being run off the floor against Creighton and Florida. Impressive win.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:34 AM

Hominy Grill, Okra Grill in Mount Pleasant, Husk…I could keep going.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
My grampa lost track meets to Jesse Owens. He loved talking about it.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
She’s hot fire now, goddamn…don’t get why she’s so desperate to keep Ella Mae on payroll, can’t she be replaced by someone less full of drugs?
January 16th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
I don’t know about the preacher guy. The actor couldn’t go toe to toe with Walter Groggins in that scene. Maybe that is the point and the preacher’s sister is what is important and the preacher is just a slimy front. Of course, Boyd >>>> then damn near everything.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
I bid 1 dollar, BITCH.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Don’t complain. Ours is $785 a year.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
I started watching Justified again, I’ve got three episodes left in season two. The older redhead woman from the coal company is INSANELY hot, and google found me a video of her getting railed in Hung, pretty solid stuff.
Anyways.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I don’t know about the preacher guy. The actor couldn’t go toe to toe with Walter Groggins in that scene. Maybe that is the point and the preacher’s sister is what is important and the preacher is just a slimy front. Of course, Boyd >>>> then damn near everything.
All this. Definitely seems like the sister is pulling the strings. Be interesting to find out her real motives. (Just $ seems too easy.)
January 16th, 2013 at 9:37 AM
It happened last season, but I’m still waiting to hear a good explanation as to why the detroit mobster was only tied down by one leg. Leaving his hands totally free to attempt an escape.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:38 AM
The older redhead woman from the coal company is INSANELY hot, and google found me a video of her getting railed in Hung, pretty solid stuff.
Indeed.
You need to watch S2 before S3, but S4 seems pretty detached from the rest of the back stories. A lot of S2 and S3 characters aren’t in this season. Not that they are dead, the showrunner just took a different path.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:38 AM
In college a friend on mine was on the Price is Right, was the last person called down, got outbid by ONE DOLLAR. Never made it up on stage.

To make her pack the most dominant of Louisiana….. Or something like that. I don’t pay attention enough while watching True Blood to make this joke work.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Just $ seems too easy.
Did you notice how many damn kids there were with the church group compared to adults? I am thinking there might be some Sanduskying going on. Justified has done some pretty odd shit (Quarles and him fucking young guys and killing them last year.)
but I’m still waiting to hear a good explanation as to why the detroit mobster was only tied down by one leg.
That crew wasn’t exactly the brightest folks in Harlan. Also, Oxy.

“fresh” blood is good
January 16th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
wow, what all does that cover? do they take care of your landscaping and maintenance stuff, or is it just common areas they cover? that seems insanely high.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
And speaking of HOAs, my old house has a restriction on killing the deer that are just roaming around. Could hit one with a car at anytime
January 16th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
i love eugene sledge on justified.
/team art
January 16th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
HOAs suck? Dunno about that. Ours is fantastic.
ours sucks. $900 annually.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
I don’t even really know. Common areas, community pools and stuff. I think maybe garbage collection and mosquito spraying is in there. Don’t know if there’s anything else.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
I would offer a counter to that. An acquaintance of mine is going to be foreclosed on by the HOA because of outstanding debt and a lien that is in place.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Saw Django, that movie needs editing. Seems like in a coke bender he watched all the spaghetti westerns, wrote down all the themes and gimmicks and in a frenzy jammed them all into a movie that could have been much better.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
Once you’ve seen werewolf gang rape it’s hard to unsee…wish the casting director had gone in another direction there, she’s a constant reminder of those dark days
Also, if Justified were happening in real life there’s no way the Truth family wouldn’t have a reality show on A&E
January 16th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
Great thing about swimming is that your time is your time. It’s not about fouls, penalties or judgment calls, just touch the wall first and you win. My kid swam in a state meet where Michael Phelps competed. I’m sure the guy next to him didn’t like getting beaten soundly, but if he improved his time, he was probably happy.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
I don’t know much about HOA’s, but I once rented in a “historic district” and the owners couldn’t do anything to the outside of their house without permission.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
Season 2 is one of the best seasons of cable television since 2000. Justified is best when it explores the the history of Harlan County and its entangled family relationships, and they just knocked it out of the park in S2.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
I pay $169.90 a month. Places on Sawgrass go for about $400-$500.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Small government for the win! So you guys have condo fees in the suburbs?
I can’t even make fun of you, that’s just tragic. All the isolation, traffic and cultural wasteland of the ‘burbs with the money grubbing of the city.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
$1320/year. That’s up from $86 when I bought the place five years ago.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
Sorry Roeth. What you like tonite? Leaning early on RICH +8 vs BUT. Line opened at 9.5, got pounded down to 8. Public still all over BUT
January 16th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
I should add that does NOT include water, sewage, or trash.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
how could it have been better?
January 16th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
Django unchained is a horrible movie.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
Took Cincy last night at -7, was up 11 with a minute to go, then saw they only won by 5. Hate getting backdoored (no coop).
I watched McDermott against Missouri St the other night and he was unstoppable. Had all of Creighton’s points in the 2nd half until about 7 minutes left. Coincidentally missed his first shot of the half around that time as well. Guy dominates the MVC. Think they finally lost their 2nd game against the spread last night, something like 9-1 before that.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
Their is a limited pool of southern rednecks that can memorize lines. Thus the crossover.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
I thought it was fantastic. But to each his own.

Howls of derisive laughter at home owner associations.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
We have two. $750 a year. But they stay out of my hair and don’t seem to skew Nazi, so I don’t mind.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
Seconded. It wasn’t as strong as Basterds and a few scenes could use a trim. Overall though? Preposterously entertaining.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:55 AM
Also, that was Tarantino’s first movie with a new editor. The editor of all his other movies died before they made this film.
It was pretty much what I thought it’d be. If you’re looking for a nuanced look on slavery you went to the wrong look. He loves set pieces, and he works to get from Set Piece A to B to C and busts his ass to make it all somehow work.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:55 AM
So you guys have condo fees in the suburbs?
I can’t even make fun of you, that’s just tragic. All the isolation, traffic and cultural wasteland of the ‘burbs with the money grubbing of the city.
you are way, way off on your assessment.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
i enjoyed it, i thought it was better than Les Mis, not nearly as good as Skyfall and right behind Lincoln in my mind.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
When words like horrible are used to describe this movie, how does one describe Taken 2?
January 16th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
That increase should be criminal.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
Still don’t get why anyone would want to see Lincoln. smdh
January 16th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
HOAs suck? Dunno about that. Ours is fantastic.
ours sucks. $900 annually.
Baylor education allowed MP to live in a nice part of town.
Ours is going up to $150. We live in a rural subdivision. The biggest benefit is snow plowing. It takes the county two days to get to us. The private guys we hire are there while it is snowing. And then we have a big ass pond with a walking trail. Never build an asphault walking trail that goes up and down hills through trees. That shit is constantly getting repaired.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
THIS. Let’s put it this way, if my Old Man (who also watches the show) felt the need to tell me how good looking this woman is, then she’s got to be hot at all levels. Damn.
Felt the need to post a pic.
As my Dad would say, “She’s built for lite house keeping”
January 16th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
Hold on, let me write that down.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
Is that why Americans are so mental about property taxes because you are all being bled dry by some fucking prudes on some fascist beautification propaganda?
Money for schools bad but $145 monthly for some Mrs. Pettifogging to tell you to change your blinds and provide all the services of a municipality except with a profit and middle-man mark up is good.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
Well, that’s because I’m dumb and didn’t post correctly.
It was $86/mo when I started. Now its $110/mo

I have no doubt that McDermott is a hell of a ball player, sorta a poor man’s Wally Sczcerbiak, but he got a lot of calls last nite go with way. My friend said you have to look at these refs from the MVC. Gotta keep your conf. #12 team up there, they’re gonna get the calls go their way.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
Please elaborate as I find this fascinating.
it would take an email or something other than posting here. too much info to post.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
Ours goes towards maintenance of common areas (about 30 linear miles, total), security (gates, patrols), two community pools, and two community parks.
It’s also the price of doing business in the suburbs if you want to live in a new community. I could have chosen to live in a rotting 80 yr old home in city limits proper with no HOA and high crime rate, but then I’d have a money pit on my hands as well.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:03 AM
Absolutely…if I remember that season correctly there was a scene with her and raylan while the coal exec is changing and raylay gets a look at her awesome ass. Paused and rewound that scene a few times
January 16th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
Wait, isn’t this just a way of legally keeping poor people out of the neighborhood?
January 16th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
whoops. Sorry JHS. I’m always late to the Roundup and didn’t read all comments before posting.

According to Google pics, she has no problem with full frontal.
Never build an asphault walking trail that goes up and down hills through trees.
Hold on, let me write that down.
Hey, I moved in after it was done.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
Mine covers landscaping, snow removal and exterior maintenance, which results in a lower HO insurance premium. Still not worth it.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:05 AM

HOA dues in the city, too. Used to live in the M streets, we had a 300/year bill.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:05 AM
Haven’t even looked yet. That’s usually on my to-do list during lunch. I’m not too into NCAA hoops. Most of the stuff I do is half-unit at most, unless I see something I really like.

Yeah, I was gonna post one of those pics, but I know alot of us folks are at work (like myself) and I was just avoiding the NSFW tag. Love her though.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Wait, isn’t this just a way of legally keeping poor people out of the neighborhood?
Nah. Most neighborhoods that have HOA’s don’t have houses poor people could buy. More about protecting property values and satisfying the ego of three or four people who sit on the board.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
We live in a gated community and parking street side is a big no-no. Our HOA contracted a tow-truck company to tow cars that are parked overnight on the side street without any warning. I thought this was a bluff until some people I know had their car towed. It was the weekend so it took them awhile to get their car back.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Thisssss.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:08 AM
you still in St. Augustine? that’s seems pretty high. one house we looked at in Sawgrass several years ago before buying where we did was about $150 a month.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:08 AM
So it’s a mini city? Sounds dystopian. I love that those gates make emergency response time slower. Maybe I’m too far gone with Marxism or whatever, but HOA sounds exceedingly cunty and absurd.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
So you honestly believe your only options were to live in a terribly built new home in the burbs or in a falling down shithole in the ghetto? I’m just assuming that your sub is like all others and is full of houses that are simply assembled on site.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
I assume that these are privately owned streets and the county/city does no maintence of them?
January 16th, 2013 at 10:11 AM
Oh yeah – she showed the goods all the time on Hung
January 16th, 2013 at 10:11 AM
i think that’s BS. was it overnight parking, or parking during the day?
what do you do for parties? they overlook the rule since no one has a driveway that big, or does everyone take a car services?
January 16th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
I would love it if people in my neighborhood wouldn’t do this either. Driving through my neighborhood is like going through an obstacle course.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
We live in a gated community and parking street side is a big no-no.
We have no rule like that. We do have a no fences rule which is awesome. It makes everyone’s 1.5 – 2 acre lot look like 4 acres.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
Its not like you have EMT’s getting out of their ride and punching in a code and waiting for the people in the house to answer. Every Emergency vehicle is equipped with SOS and all those gates have sensors.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
in one of these developments, the proper move to get out after all the houses turn 15 years old and start needing new shit and only a fraction of the people do the proper upkeep,
so every 10-15 years you move?
January 16th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
I think all of you living under a HOA are cunts and I take no joy in calling you cunts cunts for your cunty lives.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
Invite the neighbors. I like the no parking on the street rule. Clean out your fucking garage and put your cars in there.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
come on guys. if you’re not going to link it, at least spell out her name.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
Kinda. I bought five years ago when the homes were only a few years old. First home. I’ll be out by the end of the year. Places with HOAs are great first-home spots if you dont mind the fees.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
That can suck a little for dog owners.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
Scripty, those new houses need shit after about 5 years. They aren’t built well and the quality control is terrible. There were too many built, too quickly, for the good home inspectors to keep up. I was in real estate during the last housing boom and it was insane. I did my best to talk clients out of buying in subs like that. All they had to do was move 10-15 minutes to a more rural setting and they would get so much more value for their dollar.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
*shrugs*
January 16th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
Not a bad gamble to bet against Butler with Clarke out tonight. I know nothing about Richmond so I’m passing. I’m leaning towards Towson +8.5 at Del tonight as well as Xavier +2 at St. Bonaventure (who has lost 5 straight). Also riding Washington tonight -3. Love them to make a deep run in the tourney, Wilcox is a stud.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
This. Huge pet peeve of mine. In the city is one thing, or if your neighborhood is setup that way. In the ‘burbs, you’re a dirtbag.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:20 AM
Thats’s a good question because I once asked about widening the entry to my drive-way and they said I would need a permit from the city.
It was overnight parking. For parties I send an email a week in advanced to let them know about guests possible staying over and leaving their cars on the side street. The response I always get is, “thanks, we’ll make a note of it.”
January 16th, 2013 at 10:20 AM

All of this. Its painful and disappointing she wasn’t eaten by a raptor in the kitchen. No way she makes it out alive.

That can suck a little for dog owners.
Especially the ones that don’t have an underground fence and I’m putting pellets in their dogs’ asses. I’m not going to have a bunch of dogshit in my yard because they aren’t responsible enough to take care of their dogs.
/stares at neighbors.

Agreed, and a couple of posters said it earlier as well. Why not look forward to competing against the best? See what you’re made of? If any athlete even thinks they have a little bit of skill, this would be a challenge. How much bigger can you get than knocking off a champion?

Interesting. If that’s the case, the HOA is privately towing cars from a public street.

Scripty, those new houses need shit after about 5 years
Yeah I was kinda being polite, I was just more interested in the constant moving about. My best friend’s brother is a foreman for a huge home builder (Ginn?) and when we go south for a winter golf weekend, he regales us with the horror stories of the slap-it-up mentality of those development homes. I moved around so much after college, I can’t handle that moving. If the neighborhood keeps, I’ll stay in my current home forever.

I havent really weighted it a ton. My wife and I want a larger single-family home with a yard and some privacy, and with rates where they are and five years equity, the I feel good about putting it on the market if we find another home we like. Different market and I may have taken a longer look at the tables.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
No sympathy for anyone dumb enough to live in a sub division and/or in a home with a HOA. Live in a real neighborhood, dammit.

January 16th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
I would enjoy an HOA contract like a menu….ok you guys do the grass and landscaping and ill take care of snow removal. I can do all that myself. The older or lazier could choose the whole menu. Ours is 220/month. Only part i value is the repairs of the outside and if a roof leak leads to interior damage. The rest I’d prefer to take care of and save the money
January 16th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
I was absolutely amazed at people who just refused to look outside the subs. I haven’t heard from a single one of those people I helped, but I still get random emails from the ones who listened to me. They either want to move up to a bigger home or have friends who need a Realtor. If I had planned on staying in the area after finishing my education degree I would probably have a nice little real estate business on the side.
My favorite is from my sisters’ development. House across the street passed final inspection. Buyers had their friend who is an inspector look at it. Saw a large joist on the ground between two homes. Asked what it was doing there and the builder said it was an extra that was shipped by accident. He looks in the attic over the garage, which is attached to the master suite, and sees that there is an entire joist missing from the fucking house. Needless to say, those people didn’t end up buying.

Friends Mom flipped a condo in 6 months purchasing at $450,000 sinking $15,000 in and selling for $600,000 something. Friend fixed it up, there is no real weather sealing people just up the heat. Wires were not colour coded, he electrocuted himself twice installing a chandelier. Some wires were live and went no where. He was completely shocked by the callous shoddiness of it all. On top of that the developers sit on the condo boards so even if everything is fucked up the consumer has very little recourse. Idiot finance minister tried to tighten mortgage lending (after losing restrictions 4 years ago) in response to what’s happening. As Kenyes said though “the horse is already out of the barn.” I could see prices dropping to almost zero it’s so bad. Here’s the building.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:49 AM

“Payton said she pays her dues on time, but Hess recently directed her to have a microchip implanted in her small dog, a procedure she doubts would affect property values in her neighborhood. The edict does not appear in the recorded covenants governing Payton’s neighborhood.”
Seems like they have no legal power to enforce that. Time to lawyer up.
I’ve lived in several HOA regulated condos/neighborhoods, some in the city, some outside. I’ve never heard of no parking on the street provisions, no painting the inside of your house certain colors provisions, or anything like that. The worst I ever got from them was when my lawn had some bad fungus rot crap in it and was dying. They sent me a non-threatening letter offering to help me take care of it.
I guess they can mess you up if you don’t pay your dues, though.
