Cam Newton Spotted in Class at Auburn
All, College Life, NFL January 15th. 2013, 4:05pm
Gus Malzahn tweeted it earlier. Here is physical confirmation. Some stalker enterprising Auburn student snapped a couple pictures of Cam Newton attending class. He’s studying sociology.

Good for him
January 15th, 2013 at 4:10 PM
He strikes me as the kind of six foot five guy that would sit in the front of class while wearing a beanie.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:10 PM
Damn. That poor, sad college football player. He had to take a WHOLE semester of classes at AUB and in turn is now making millions and millions of dollars because of the coaching and exposure he was given at AUB. I don’t know how he even walks around that place without throwing up*.
*actually I honestly do feel that way

is it bad that i was far more shocked by reading this headline than “[insert college athlete] spotted in club/shady rental car/front row seats they couldnt afford/etc?”
January 15th, 2013 at 4:13 PM
Never understood the rich athlete going back to school.
/team save your $ in the first place

Actually I remember he played in a spring game, which meant he would’ve been a student for the Spring semester. And I’m guessing he stuck around int he summer and took classes then. Then he played in the Fall of 2010 so that would be 3 semesters previously logged at Auburn.
And while we’re on the subject, I bet the class attendance rate for football players at Auburn is several percentage points higher than the attendance rate for regular students. But that’s a whole other subject.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:15 PM
It’s called “math” you stupid fucking hillbilly.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:16 PM
Well, it is now, since Gene Chizik is not around to pick and choose which rules get enforced for which players.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:16 PM
You mean digits?
January 15th, 2013 at 4:17 PM
Yeah…who would want to go hang out on a college campus loaded with smoking hot 18-year-olds who idolize you.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:18 PM
Ritty: So Dee LIner is Bama-bound, yes? Jesus Christ their class is going to be absurd, especially if they land Foster, too.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:18 PM
Did he bring any Cammy Can Juice?
January 15th, 2013 at 4:18 PM
fixed for you.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:18 PM
It’s weird because there is a $100,000 bronze statue of him like right in the middle of campus.

wow, that’s pretty cool.
no seriously, i dont give a shit.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:19 PM
i swear to god if they get vonn bell im gonna punch a baby.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:19 PM
That’s one of the worst statues I’ve ever seen.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
Can’t believe Auburn isn’t paying Cam for this pub. Disgusting.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
Bell, Liner, Foster, Kamara and the DL they just signed. That poor RS Sophomore 4th on the depth chart better get those roids the Bama boys eat like candy or he’ll be playing at North Alabama this time next year.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:20 PM
Yeah, there was some blowback on that Dee Liner decommit from current players. At least that’s how the message boards were portraying it, as though Liner played a lot of people and was waiting to piss Auburn off on signing day…just like Yeldon.
I still have hope for Foster, who is a momma’s boy. And momma lives in Auburn. But I thought it was down to UGA, Washington, and Auburn for him.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:21 PM
Yeah, the Tebow statue for one is much better.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:22 PM
It’s supposedly UGA and AUB, but Bama get him on campus this week. I’d literally shit my pants if he went to Washington. No way he leaves that South.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:22 PM
Cam would do just fine away from a college campus. If I was in his position, school would be the last thing on my mind
January 15th, 2013 at 4:22 PM
Foster isn’t going to Bama. He probably goes to Auburn, for the same reason Liner is going to Bama – local pressure, including from family. The Washington thing is weird enough to make me think they’re a real contender, though. And no it’s not a marijuana thing.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:22 PM
Hmmm…
January 15th, 2013 at 4:23 PM
He’s probably doing some winter workouts in Auburn. Class likely keeps him out of trouble. Gives him something to do. Who knows.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:24 PM
Well, he could go to AUB and get blown (by dudes…hey ohh!!!) all day or he could have a coach tell him he actually has to improve on things, and we all know Cammy Cam doesn’t take criticism very well.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:24 PM
The statue area in front of the stadium is actually pretty cool. Way cooler than what was there before…being nothing.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:25 PM
I don’t deny it’s good for him, but my mind would be in a less responsible place
January 15th, 2013 at 4:26 PM
Hide yo kids.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:27 PM
I would imagine his publicist is telling him it’s a smart move to do this.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
only 10 more years of part time classes to graduate.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
Shouldn’t the statute be of the bagman?
January 15th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
The Cam google phone or whatever commericals are nauseating. Poundcake, french fries! Fuck you
January 15th, 2013 at 4:29 PM
Also that he needs to force a trade to a real organization.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:29 PM
Dallas.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:29 PM
And again, the pie picture is of a Edwards’ Hershey Creme Pie, premade, four dollars at Target. Cheap fraud.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:31 PM
Then hire K. Shanahan
January 15th, 2013 at 4:32 PM
Well, what happened was that Cam actually made a cake and made it okay, but only just that. The director asked him to do it again because he thought he could do better. Cam didn’t take this well and hid in a closet (double entendre) and cried for hours. Some poor intern had to run to Target and buy the crappy pie as a replacement.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:38 PM
ANy laptops reported missing?
January 15th, 2013 at 4:40 PM
Here’s a question: If pot’s now legal in Colorado and Washington, can kids still be tested/suspended for it at those colleges?
January 15th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Yes because it’s an NCAA rule.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:43 PM
Shouldn’t it be a $180,000 statue?
January 15th, 2013 at 4:44 PM
Never understood the rich athlete going back to school.
Because learning things enriches one’s life?
January 15th, 2013 at 4:45 PM
sports related? or school related? if they are smoking it on campus or something, I about guarantee they can, but I would assume most campuses are smoke free anyways. athletically they can as well. if they are sitting somewhere that it is legal, I kind of doubt it.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:45 PM
Well, Reggie Bush had to go back so he could return his Heisman.
/ Still thinks it’s bullshit Kosar was denied Miami HOF because he graduated early
January 15th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
So does doing NFL player things in the offseason during one’s early 20′s
January 15th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
Also, Honey Badger is sitting in his tiny apartment, crying, because he could have gone to Washington or Colorado and still be an All-America Heisman finalist.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:48 PM
Pretty sure there are enough hours in the day to do both.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:49 PM
Not if you’re doing it right
January 15th, 2013 at 4:49 PM
So does doing NFL player things in the offseason during one’s early 20′s
I think picking up a degree in sociology is better for an athlete in the long run than planting his dick inside of every 20 something gold digger available to him.
January 15th, 2013 at 4:55 PM
Ya, but not nearly as fun
January 15th, 2013 at 4:57 PM
Ya, but not nearly as fun
You know what’s fun? Not being brought to court by a woman (or women) who say you are the father of her child (or children) and demanding that you pay exorbitant child support per month.
January 15th, 2013 at 5:09 PM
Yeah, that looks like the back of his neck.
Seriously? Those were the best shots of an NFL player attending classes anyone could get? I DEMAND more invasion of privacy for my prying eyes. Fuck Jodie Foster.
