I wish more stupid people would do this and quickly reduce the population by having these people breed later on in life.
/dammit, got to go an 8:30 meeting

That new Corvette is pretty slick.
/this is 40
January 14th, 2013 at 8:32 AM
This is what happens when you prioritize defense in the draft.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:34 AM
Like it. Wouldn’t mind having one. Styling is a little busy, but the power is no joke.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:35 AM
ATL (-3.5) are the biggest home dogs in conference title game history.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:35 AM
what do you think of the new Corvette Stingray
sick car to get a ticket to make your insurance rates skyrocket.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:37 AM
I don’t know about that. For $15K less you get 400/400 from a Challenger R/T. The Corvette needs to improve the quality of the body panels and interior to European levels if it is going to be so damn expensive. It is a really good looking car, but if you are just looking for the power numbers you can get that at a lower price point.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:39 AM

Yes I would foot the fuck out of that and have to get bailed out.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:40 AM
Lead Foot.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
Pretty sure I know how he got the injuries. Dude shot a cop in the face and got his ass beat (deservedly so).
January 14th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
ATL (+3.5) are the biggest home dogs in conference title game history.
already took SF -3.
7-1 for me in the first two rounds (missed Denver). Seattle +2.5 was one of the best wins of the year.
I like Baltimore +10, but not nearly as much as SF -3.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:43 AM
Not surprised they are underdogs. Think it will be a Harbaugh Bros. Super Bowl.
That new Corvette is Sweeet!!
January 14th, 2013 at 8:43 AM
Such a big win for Atlanta for so many reasons. And in classic Atlanta fashion, they had to give me fucking heart attack before winning.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
stigs, good point. I like to drive fast, and either choice is better than what I have now.

Nice surprise ending in the cat fight video….
/always think of this when I hear cat fight…
January 14th, 2013 at 8:47 AM
Watching that last drive reminded me exactly of the LSU-Alabama game. Felt much more like a complete defensive breakdown than any sort of miraculous comeback.
Baltimore getting 10 points is crazy. The Ravens lost by 3 there last year and won earlier this season. Gronk and maybe Woodhead are out. Baltimore seems like the easy pick there.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:48 AM
Good for Matt Ryan, felt horrible for him as the defense was blowing it. And fuck anybody who makes fun of Tony Gonzalez for crying. He is 100 times the man Ray Lewis is and is getting 1/100th of the love for this being his last season.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:48 AM
Seahawks left too many points out there, should have won that game. SF is going to destroy them next week.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
I have to admit to being a bit biased. I have a 2010 Challenger and love it. Big concern for me with the new Corvette is the transmission. I have a 6-speed manual and can’t imagine a 7-speed. Seems like a ton of shifting, and never using 6th under normal conditions.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Not a Falcons fan, but agree with all of this.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Eh, the defense wasn’t good, but Ryan’s second INT was the only reason Seattle even had a chance to get back in it. That game isn’t played at 10 am Seattle time and I think the Falcons get rolled. You could see the team just start to snap out of its funk in the second half. Credit the Falcons though for jumping on Seattle early and taking advantage of terrible playcalling.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:52 AM
Big Momma was already out in public wearing fuzzy slippers & probably didn’t want to be at Ross anyway. Do. Not. Mess.

How did that icing the kicker move work out Pete?
January 14th, 2013 at 8:52 AM
Florida teenager “accidentally shoots off his penis and testicle”
I’m pretty sure this was linked months ago, in the Roundup
January 14th, 2013 at 8:53 AM
They should be. SF has the best defense in football and a hot QB. Atlanta will need to play perfectly to win the game I’d image. That or hope the llama throws some picks.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
True story: My grandpa was a doctor in a rural Indiana town. He always said the craziest thing he ever saw/had to do was remove this dude’s junk that he accidentally glued to his leg. Model glue in the 60′s must have been intense.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
I think Bryant heard the whistle, paused, then kicked it anyway to get a practice swing in. You could see him hesitate after the whistle. Smart play, but I don’t think Bryant takes that lackadaisical approach if the TO isn’t called.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
No Hernandez in that first game. Also didn’t have Talib, Dennard. Mccourty played corner which led to the PI and the game winning kick. I’d agree I’d take the points though.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
Cool story. Felt pretty badass to me. It was also a sick throw to Douglas. The Tony G one was a “zone buster” route where they iso’d a Safety or LB and made him pick between Gonzalez and Roddy and he essentially froze and picked neither. It was a good play call against the defense they were running. But sure, shit on the final drive.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
Fucking loved that phony whining about it after he realized he called the TO too late
January 14th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
Glad I watched that Russian dashboard catfight video till the very end. Just knew there would be a moment of dashcam terrible Russian ruthlessness.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
Could be fun in a place where you could really open it up. There is an rarely-used racetrack between the Springs and Pueblo – if you could get on that track & and the track wasn’t too beat up, it would be a fun place to do some gear-jamming.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
Loud and obese is no way to be in public
January 14th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
ive never liked the facemask tony gonzalez wears, so im disagreeing.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
As bad as Atlanta’s defense is, I’m surprised the line isn’t higher.
I hope Atlanta wins, because if the Ravens can somehow upset New England I’d much rather play the Falcons in the Super Bowl.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
How’s the view from sugar heaven, bitch?
January 14th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
Corvette is slick, but why are they using the Stingray name for the standard edition? It should be the next option up, before you hit the track-ready models.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
Not what he was mad about, actually. He was told before the game the refs weren’t going to let kickers take the practice kick after a time out was taken.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
He actually just said (on the radio here in ATL) that he “rushed the snap” on the first kick and stutter stepped that is why he missed it. But he forgot about it, and then drilled the game winner. Im not a Falcons fan, good win for them, I think Seattle was the better team… and San Fran wins on Sunday.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
Jason, good Roundup.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
I hope BAL gets blown out by 20+ because fuck Ray Murda. The narratives spewed by Rinaldi and Co. for the 2 weeks before the SB will be nauseating if the Ravens make it.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
How would an official stop that, though, unless by issuing a penalty after the fact? If Carroll and both kickers were told 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalties would be handed out if a kicker tries a FG after a TO, OK, then Carroll should rightly be pissed. If not, I’m not sure how an official can ever enforce that. Tackle the kicker? There’s no way to stop him from kicking that ball.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
I’d take that in a heart beat. Atlanta would play BAL well as the Ravens don’t have anyone who can handle their WRs. Though I’d bet on neither team making it to New Orleans.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
I don’t understand why they don’t throw him the ball on every single 3rd down. Or every single play for that matter. The dude was catching every-fucking-thing. He is amazing.
The end to that game was the greatest. The “squib” kick pushed it to another level. If Seattle’s able to squeeze 6-7 more yards out of that completion, they give Longwell a chance to win.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
Was he told it would be a penalty?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
Don’t tell half the story. What town was it?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
Right, and if you really want to avoid that, call the timeout before they are lined up in formation. Or, you know, stop calling timeouts to ice the kicker because they don’t fucking work.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
The Super Bowl hype is always nauseating no matter who makes it. That’s just the way it is.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
We won a playoff game at home against a wild card team. Boo fucking Hoo!!
January 14th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Not sure what you want to hear. I’m just telling you why he was mad. It had nothing to do with the TO. He said he specifically asked about the kicks after what he saw in the BAL game with its kicker doing those sorts of things.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Or another Russel Wilson game winning interception.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
SROD-
Seems like that would be the only place. I know in my car that shifting into 5th from 4th is generally a giant waste of time, and that is just under normal acceleration to 60. If I get on it, I generally just go from 3rd to 6th because I’m right in the middle of the power-band when I get to 60 in 3rd.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
How would an official stop that, though, unless by issuing a penalty after the fact?
seems like it should get a delay of game penalty

Stigs – Rushville
January 14th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
The Falcons needed 25 yards, Tony Gonzalez is the obvious target, and they let him run straight up the middle of the field and stand there wide open. There is literally no easier throw for a QB to make (other than maybe a checkdown). That’s terrible defense.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:07 AM

January 14th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
Holy Hell. Rushville is not someplace I would want to spend a lot of time in. I live northwest of there by about 1.5 hours, but I’ve been through several times.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Yeah, but was he told it was going to be a penalty? Id that’s the case, Carroll doesn’t look like an asshole. He looks like a guy who rightly furious that yet another example of incompetent officiating cost his team a spot in the NFC title game.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
…same with pats fans, too. shut the fuck up. just fucking shut it.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
Two points:
1. Screw Pete Carroll. Cheating phony.
2. Miranda Kerr is over-rated. 100 score body, 75 face. Swanepoel, Heatherton, et al dust her.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
That makes me sad. Speed is life!

Yeah, he was the doctor there. He delivered like 15 kids that all ended up at Butler. We used to throw parties.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
Let’s be fair here — Ray is a very good dude. Does a ton for the city of Baltimore through charity work and motivates teammates to act accordingly. I’m not sure not ratting on your friends is enough to condemn someone for life.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
you shut up too…he probably killed that dude. where’s the suit, hmm?
and i thought he did rat on his friends? and honestly, not ratting out a murder is probably enough to condemn someone for life.
all im saying is pats and steeler fans are fucking assholes.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
How about accessory to murder? Is that enough to condemn one for life?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
The Seahawks DB’s were so scared of being toasted like the Denver secondary on a desperation heave that they played “nothing behind us” coverage … how did that work out?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
SROD, don’t worry. You still need 5th if you are trying to go fast. Just don’t need it to be quick.

/full circle
January 14th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
Not only is Tony Gonzalez a better man than Ray Lewis, he also didn’t get away with murder (literally).
January 14th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
no, it’s because youre a fucking hypocrite. the rooneys are fucking cheating ass bitches who stapled their name to a racially humiliating hiring practice. never been a bad word about em tho!
so you criticize ray murda for getting his slurp job but nothing when the slurb goes in your direction. but hey, feel free to criticize ray lewis’ coverage…it only reflects poorly on you.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
i hope he shower rapes mike greenberg.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
Ray Lewis without the media love is one of the top 3-5 greatest linebackers of all time. Hines Ward without the media love is Keyshawn Johnson. Media love keeps the scrutiny of the historic connection between the Steelers and steroids at a minimum.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
Well, that’s an interesting question. Does one act in your early 20s enough to mitigate a limetime of good deeds? Can people change?
Obviously it depends on the act. Did you learn from your mistake? How have you tried to better yourself and ensure you don’t put yourself in a similar situation?
To me, Ray Lewis realizes he made a poor choice that night in Atlanta and took steps to spend the rest of his life atoning for it. That’s enough for me. He ever does something similar, though, and I’ll be the first one to roast him for it.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:19 AM

The reality of the Browns hiring a guy named Chud has finally hit home
January 14th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
I’d be willing to bet this is brought up. However I’m of the mind that if you take the TO, the K isn’t delaying anything by kicking the ball. I also think it’s absurd people want to ban “icing” the kicker. Why ban that? If a coach wants to do it, let him.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
Besides ever explaining to the grieving family what happened, sure.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
im not gonna lie, 2013′s sucked pretty hard for me so far.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
I like the new vette. Like the sharper design as opposed to the rounder look.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Once again, the Packers serve as a historical catalyst. Watch now as they overcompensate like crazy drafting smaller, lightning-fast linebackers, just like when they drafted nothing but gigantic CBs after a year of getting roasted by Randy Moss.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Gonzalez is the obvious target, huh? Nope, defense certainly can’t pay attention to Julio or Roddy. Everyone knew the ball was going to Gonzalez.
Seriously dude, stop talking.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
i am judging you over this one simple sentence…you and CJ are obviously good people otherwise, it’s just on this issue i want to strangle you both.

January 14th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
That’s being kind. I’d go Keenan McCardell.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
But why is that Ray Lewis’ responsibility? He didn’t kill anyone. He didn’t assault anyone. It’s on the prosecutor and the attackers themselves to tell that story. I would have distanced myself from that situation, too.

Yes. Including both announcers.
The corners had White and Jones. No one in the zone decided to cover a HOF tight end running a straight line up the middle of the field. Mark Sanchez could have made that throw.
That’s great they won. But I don’t think the sports world changed their mind about Atlanta being a fraud luck team because of that play.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
does the rumored return of Horse Balls improve your 2013 YTD or add to the shit pile?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
I dont think people want to ban it, but just see it as a strategy that usually doesnt work. It is not like icing a guy about to shoot free throws.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:27 AM

Maryland has looked like utter ass in their last three halves of basketball. Said it before and I’ll say it again — if Gary Williams had this roster of players, the Terps would be a top 10 team.

I’d be willing to bet this is brought up. However I’m of the mind that if you take the TO, the K isn’t delaying anything by kicking the ball.
If a coach called a TO on defense right before the snap, and the QB decided to fling the ball 50 yards downfield, I think they’d call it. What’s different?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
But why did Ray Murda pay 1 million to the families?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
The fact that you’re a Baltimore fan makes this statement all the more fantastic.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
But why? I wouldn’t do that. You wouldn’t do that. It was be a media shitstorm and undo all the steps he’s made to change his life. Hell, he might not even be allowed to contact the family based on the plea deal. Who the hell knows?
I wouldnt expect anyone in that situation to talk to the family.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
This I don’t know. I took a break from muscle cars after my 91 Trans-Am. Although I did, and still do, want a 2002 Firehawk. Basically a Corvette in the much prettier Trans-Am body.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
You make this sound so easy. Like husker said, they made the safety or LB choose between Roddy and Gonzalez and slight hesitation caused Gonzalez to get open. I got news for you. Lot of passes are completed because there’s a defensive breakdown. Flacco comes to mind just this weekend.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Well technically why would they call delay of game on that? There’s a timeout on the field, and they’re in no hurry to get the ball back to the line.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
YOU BETTER RUN RUN RUN
January 14th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
That’s a good point. Hell, it would probably be a personal foul.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
the Packers drafting Ahmad Carroll in the first round will forever hold a special place in my heart.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Maryland has looked like utter ass in their last three halves of basketball. Said it before and I’ll say it again — if Gary Williams had this roster of players, the Terps would be a top 10 team.
No. Love Gary but no coach is running a productive offense with the slowest PG in the country and a spastic freshman as your lead guards.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
I’d explain it to the grieving family like this: Your sons were out there doing and being what Atlanta black locals are notorious for doing, hating on black out of towners who shine a little bit, whether it be some kind of celebrity coming from out of town, or an out of town student attending one of the HBCU’s down there. The thing that pisses me off the most about this story is if Ray Lewis wasn’t connected to this story, none of you would be giving a fuck about those dudes or their grieving families. There are innocent people who are murdered every day. Throw your sympathies behind them.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
January 14th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Yes, I make it sound like completing a pass directly up the middle of the field to a wide open receiver standing still is easy. Because it is.
If you want to give Atlanta credit for the first pass, fine. Seattle was playing prevent but it was still a decent completion. The second one was a joke. It was Les Miles all over again.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
nitpicking: the two victims had recently moved to ATL from akron.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Remember when someone drafted Willie friggin Middlebrooks? In the FIRST ROUND?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Not suprised JoePas stuck up for Tony Gonzalez, his boy. Look how he slurbed* JoePa.
*stealing spence’s term.

Because the families sued him, wrongful death suit. It was a settlement.

(not a 9ers fan, btw)
January 14th, 2013 at 9:38 AM
Hey, at least he’s still good enough to play in Canada…where’s Troy Williamson at these days, huh?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Flacco and Ryan will always be compared because they were part of same draft class. Cut the guy some slack. He feels the need to trash Ryan so he can feel better about Flacco.

Jeez, Maryland’s non-conference schedule was pathetic.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
He was right. So was everyone else in the world who knew New England would roll in that game. It was still an embarrassing column.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
does that one act result in another person’s death? that’s a kinda important detail.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
Funny that Tebow’s brother was talking trash on twitter after the Denver debacle.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
Doesn’t matter if he was right or not, it’s about him being a total dick slime.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
It was so, so bad. They’ve played four legit teams all year — Kentucky, VT, Miami, FSU — and lose to three of them.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
This may be a reason
January 14th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
Nothing Ray Lewis did or did not do resulted in anyone’s death. The dude didnt kill anyone. He didn’t help kill anyone. He didn’t guard the street while his boys killed anyone.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
I saw some Florida fans (read: idiots) saying the similar things. Though in their defense, the INT Peyton threw looked exactly like something Tebow would have done.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
I just bought this board game, it’s a pretty great trivia game. Interesting format, makes for a good drinking game.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Family members continue to embarrass athletes/coaches on twitter. You had Greg Jenning’s sister badmouthing Rodgers, Avery Johnson’s son going off on the Nets, and now this. I understand your need to defend family members, but picking fights on social media isn’t the correct way to go about it.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
He was not right. That wasn’t a bye for NE. They lost Gronk, and I don’t even know about Woodhead and Chandler. And they had to play the game, and it was a 4 -point game at halftime. NE winning in no way justifies what that testicle sprout Shaughnessy wrote.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
what was the act?
January 14th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
7 losing seasons in 40 years and 6 SB’s. Yeah, the Rooneys are pretty overrated.
Save your hate for Chud. You’re gonna need it.

January 14th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
Jeez, Maryland’s non-conference schedule was pathetic.
It was so, so bad. They’ve played four legit teams all year — Kentucky, VT, Miami, FSU — and lose to three of them.
Not sure that a team that loses at home to BC can be considered legit. Unless they get their shit together, MD is NIT-bound and losing Alex to the NBA. Team could be really good next year if Roddy Peters is decent.

January 14th, 2013 at 9:53 AM

January 14th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
He’s as good as gone and everyone’s pretty much known it this entire season…a wideout dealing with two years of injury troubles now coming up on 30 years old isn’t getting a big contract from Thompson, especially with Rodgers, Raji and Matthews all coming up soon

My oldest likes the song Puff the Magic dragon. This morning I come into the play room and he has his head in the corner looking really sad. I ask him what’s the matter. He looks at me, almost crying, and says he’s sad that Jackie Paper isn’t going to come visit anymore.
/ sorry for the facebook-esq comment.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
I know the NFL will adjust, but watching teams try and defend the zone-read is comical at times. GB looked completely lost, and ATL has looked poor against CAR as well. Makes me wish Chip Kelly went even more just to see the great experiment.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
They look NIT-bound to me. Something is missing.

Need the right QB, though. I was stunned at how little Wilson kept the ball. ATL was keying in on Lynch the entire time, but Wilson got almost all of his yards on passing plays that broke down. I would bet the Llama keeps it more times in the first QTR this Sunday than Wilson did all day yesterday.

I got sweet and sour chicken last night, I don’t know why, I always hate it, and the sauce had pineapples and onions in it. I hated myself for that decision. Amazing crab rangoon though so there’s that I guess.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
I don’t think it’s going to stay in its current form. D-Coordinators are too smart and will start scrape exchanges and teach the DEs (a) to stay home with square shoulders not allowing a read; or (b) blow up the QB on every handoff. You’d think that pro DE would be much more disciplined than they’ve played the zone erad thus far.
Parts of it will stick around, ala the run-and-shoot, maybe the pistol, whcih gives offenses a down hill running game and a quick passing gam. Basicallty whatever stresses the defense.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
He was pissed about being put on IR. Some talk-radio guy (Pellissaro I think) put two and two together and figured “They might not sign him,” and started to stir shit. I don’t think he’s going anywhere, they’ve got the cap space and there’s nobody else on the FA market that can come close to what he does.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Act II.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:08 AM

So, Golden Globes: Argo the Oscar frontrunner now, or does the HFPA just like Ben Affleck a lot?
January 14th, 2013 at 10:10 AM

January 14th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Wow, Harvin’s cap hit is only $2.6 million for 2013. Will probably be ~$10 million if they have to franchise him in 2014.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
Were there witnesses who were going to appear suddenly in the civil case that actually saw Lewis fighting, yet alone with a knife? The evidence of an undisclosed settlement proving guilt is a weak argument. It is more indicative of expediency
January 14th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
His current cap hit’s a moot point, since there is no way he is going to play with the last year of that deal. He’s going to hold out for a new contract.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Atlanta’s pass rush was non-existent. I mean we are not a good pass rushing team to begin with anyways, but yesterday it was just ridiculous. Don’t know what happened.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
I thought Argo was already the front runner.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
So, Golden Globes: Argo the Oscar frontrunner now, or does the HFPA just like Ben Affleck a lot?
Since Affleck didn’t get a director nomination, I’m guessing Argo doesn’t win best picture
January 14th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Rare for the frontrunner to not get a best director nomination.
Can’t believe Girls won all that shit.
Also Tommy Lee Jones was right, that Wigg and Ferrell bit was atrocious.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
He’ll hold out til the end of August then immediately get injured and miss the next two months. Can’t wait.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
Those always seem to end poorly, with the player coming back not in the best shape, and eventually going on IR before the end of the year. (Revis/MJD recently). If I am remembering correctly, the Vikings are way under the cap for 2013, so maybe he does get paid this year.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
Seriously, I’m preparing for next year like he won’t play at all regardless of what happens. Just have to hope the draft fills a WR hole or two.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:20 AM

shut it about what? what a classy team they are. did you see the way they walked off the field and the amount of respect between them and the texans? it’s something that’s lost in the world today and very refreshing to see. belichick teaches his team to respect yourself and your opponent and you can’t fault them for their success

January 14th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
Probably about a 0% chance they resign Jerome Simpson as well, so your starting MIN WRs for 2013 could be the dynamic duo of Jarius Wright and Michael Jenkins.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
It was badass. Jason Clarke was excellent as was Chastain. I loved it, and was more entertained by it than Argo, which I also liked.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
i loved it when andy dwyer hit him with the rocket launcher to get the predator missile killstreak reward.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
The guy was charged with murder, lied to the police, the suit he was wearing that night was never found, and he got a plea deal for being an athlete. He also paid off both families in the 7 figure range. I’m not saying he’s OJ, but I think he may have been guilty of a little more than obstruction of justice. I don’t think that’s a stretch.
By all accounts he’s been a saint since then, which is great. At least he was smart enough to learn. Alot of guys aren’t. But the pass he’s been given here is extraordinary.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
I’d bet he does. Will make him that much easier to trade if need be
January 14th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
SPOILER ALERT
chastain’s transformation from the beginning when she was horrified by the interrogation to where she’s laughing while watching a drone strike i thought was an awesome subtle lil touch.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
So pissed at Mike Smith for playing him in the Tampa game. That was a stupid decision.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
This is the same team that gave John Carlson 5 years/$25 million last season. Something tells me they are not too smart with their money.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Spot on. I didn’t think there was one performance that was bad in the movie. The pep talk the CIA man gave to his people was fucking awesome. “I want targets.”
January 14th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
What happened to Abraham? Saw him pissed on the sidelines that he wasn’t playing, but didn’t see the injury. Always feel bad when dudes make it through the whole season, only to go down during the playoff run.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:33 AM
Eh, Carlson will be gone. Signing didn’t work out. Happens with every team.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
i didnt like the southern, married, older CIA woman…a) baking a cake for a terrorist? gtfo. b) not seeing through that obvious smoke screen? gtfo. c) glossing over the fact that the suicide bomber depicted had been working with the CIA for months? gtfo.
that, and them not going into the decision making/planning process were the weak links. plus, i think everyone wanted more seal team 6.
those are my only quibbles and i dont think it took that much away from the overall experience at all. fucking loved it.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:35 AM
paddlin the school canoe? gtfo.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
It made no sense at the time though, since they spent a 2nd round pick on a much better ND TE the season before. I remember it labeled before the season as the most head-scratching FA signing.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
Sprained his ankle in the Tampa game. Won’t be healthy the rest of the year for it. Might not play at all Sunday. Mike Smith fucked up big time playing him in a game that had no meaning at all.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
i heart rhetorical questions.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:37 AM
soused I’m genuinely shocked you are just now seeing that movie. it’s a good one.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:38 AM
SPOILERS
There were so many of those little moments. Chastain repeating Clarke’s “how this is gonna work” speech to a different detainee. The picture of Chastain and the murdered station chief smiling as Maya’s desktop background in America. Mark Strong and Stannis Baratheon in the hall giving each other shit about the politics of it all. The way the raid team lured out the occupants then just put em down without any emotion.
I’m not sure which movie I want to win the Oscar — Argo or ZDT.

January 14th, 2013 at 10:40 AM
I thought it was pretty clear that a significant amount of time had passed between the Jordanian doctor working with the CIA and the meet. I dunno, I knew about the attack going in so maybe it just seemed that way.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:41 AM
it could happen…i mean, CIA types during the cold war dropped cargo loads of magnum condoms over russia to intimidate them into thinking we’re all hugely endowed animal beasts…
i just thought the movie’s execution of that part was hamfisted.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:41 AM
Funny that in your rundown, you neglected to mention the fact that there were no witnesses produced that had him throwing blows, or having a knife in his hands, which would be the key evidence needed for murder. You’re making your case based on him throwing away clothing and lying to the Police The prosecution tried to too, which is why they failed. Settling is not an admission of guilt. The family didn’t have to accept it.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:42 AM
i didnt get that impression at all…the impression i got was they got the dvd with the doctor on there, a few weeks pass while they set the meetup and then boom. even then, IRL, the dude had been working with the CIA so long, he was passed thru, not the whole “get the guards out of here!” thing they made it look like.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:45 AM
Society cannot properly judge Ray Lewis until we know who he voted for. Then the outrage can be actualized.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:48 AM
January 14th, 2013 at 10:51 AM
and he can be judged fairly by a group of his peers found in the barbershop.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:52 AM
Jordanian doctor that killed bunch of CIA agents in Afghanistan was meeting with them on his birthday. One of the female CIA agents had a cake baked for him and also told the security forces not to pat him down when he came to meet them. Thought it would make him feel comfortable and not on edge.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
again, im not saying it was unrealistic, im saying that that particular scene wasn’t as clealy executed and streamlined as the rest of the film, that’s all.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:55 AM
and i dont remember in the movie if they mentioned it was the doctor’s birthday. i couldve missed/not remembered tho…i mean, it was 160 minutes.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:55 AM
I didn’t say he stabbed anyone, although one of the victim’s blood was found in the limo on his chair. But anyone who doesn’t think the obstruction charge was a gift is kidding themselves. He was an accessory to murder at minimum. No need to flee the scene and make a pit stop to throw away your suit Ray Ray, if you weren’t involved.
Personally, I’d rather pay more attention to Tony Gonzales. Another first ballot, top 2-3 at his position all time HOFer…who never once sped away from a murder scene in blood drenched clothes. And he gets killed in the media for crying after a win. Ray’s been crying for 13 years, starting with the night they read him his rights after his crew stabbed 2 people to death.
January 14th, 2013 at 11:00 AM
And I think he detonated the bomb inside a building.
January 14th, 2013 at 11:05 AM
Who is killing Gonzales for crying? The link in the rundown isnt. I havent heard anyone in the media “kill” him for crying.
January 14th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
That new Stingray looks too much like the new Camaro. And it also looks plastic. For shame. The original Stingray may be the sexiest looking car ever made.
January 14th, 2013 at 11:22 AM
You were most certainly strongly indicating it if you didn’t directly say it. So, the prosecution was able to find a witness that had Lewis throwing away his suit. They were able to find a witness to state that Lewis told everyone to not say anything, but they weren’t able to find a witness that has him throwing punches or with a knife in his hands. Actually, they found witnesses who stated the contrary. One of his boys was cracked in the head with a champagne bottle during the fight. How do you know that wasn’t his blood on Lewis’ suit, especially when it has been stated that Lewis was grabbing his people and pushing them into the limo? One of the guys who was stabbed was seen stumbling towards and was pushed away from the limo, who is to say that isn’t where the blood in the chair came from?
Yet you spent the past hour talking about Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis is a better football player than Tony Gonzalez, and he played at a historically more relevant position. Don’t play yourself or play Tony Gonzalez by making up some false equivalency.
