Colin Kaepernick Shatters Postseason Rushing Record for Quarterbacks With His Second Touchdown of the Night
Only two quarterbacks had rushed for over 1oo yards in a playoff game–Michael Vick against the Rams in January of 2005, and Donovan McNabb against the Packers in that infamous 4th and 26 game in 2004. The spread option was not supposed to work in the NFL, and instead the young quarterbacks are re-writing the record books. Colin Kaepernick had over 100 yards in the first half and just had a 56 yard touchdown on a read option keeper that has shattered the single game record for a quarterback.
Colin Kaepernick started the game by throwing an interception returned for a touchdown, and has since been phenomenal. He has 163 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, to go with 232 passing yards and two more touchdowns, and we still have a quarter left. If you are curious, only seven running backs have a 200 yard rushing game in postseason play since 1960. The most is Eric Dickerson with 248 yards in January of 1986 against the Cowboys.
