Bob Knight Was So Confused, Rece Davis Had to Explain to Him the Shot Clock and Game Clock in the Kentucky Game
The refs bungled the ending of Kentucky 60, Vanderbilt 58. Kentucky led by 16, then gave up an 18-0 run, and held on for the win. You can watch the highlights below. Let’s focus, however, on the worst announcer in college sports, Bob Knight. This conversation actually happened, on live TV. The head-scratching madness begins at the :32 mark of the video:
Bob Knight: That 17.3 was up there, and the 0 was on the bottom. I don’t know what that meant.
Rece Davis: The 0 was the shot clock.
Bob Knight: What was the 17.3?
Rece Davis: Game clock.
Bob Knight: Ok, well … [unintelligible]
Mistakes often happen on live TV. It happens to everyone. But not knowing the difference between the shot clock and game clock? This has to be a first. In all seriousness, I hope Bob Knight is doing OK. He turned 72 in October.
Maybe he fell asleep again on TV, and woke up in a confused state? No, we won’t be calling him on his cell phone to ask about this gaffe.

I was wondering how that would get linked here, a little sloppy but it works
Knight’s a fuck

After Arizona lost last night, Michigan is going to be the only undefeated team left when State rolls over a Kelly-less Duke on Saturday.
Also Carolina got beat by Miami at home, good stuff.

“rece…HOW DO YOU GET THAT NUMBER?”

This is going to piss off ND fans and several others.
January 11th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
I found it amusing, especially due to the way he speaks.

I’m not sure what was more brutal… Knight’s shot clock misunderstanding, or Kentucky’s nine-minute stretch without scoring when Vandy went to their zone. I know where I’m leaning.

I have no clue who that is, but it’s pretty much everything anti-SEC fans hate in one short commentary.

Hernia: Were you a bit stunned with how the game played out, or were you expecting a rough night? Seems like many ND fans were legitimately shocked at not playing it close. I spoke with the head of the Oregon sports commission a month before the game who happend to be a former ND linebacker. I asked him his thoughts and he started laughing. Said ND, “is perhaps the most fortunate team in the country, but I guess you never know in a one game thing.”

How did you get this number?!

Anything to distract from your love of commas.

I had very little confidence they would win, but I thought they would keep it relatively close. All season long I had been waiting for their DBs to be exposed. Thought Oklahoma would do it.

I wouldn’t call Knight the worst since he can still break down a game when properly motivated…more than one can say for Vitale who seems to be getting worse at spending broadcasts just talking up his coaching buddies

Carolina is a shell of its former self at the moment. No heart, ho hustle, no leaders. Stars and burgers won’t get you to the NCAA, boys.
/see you in 2013!

I just looked at Michigan’s schedule, and while they do have a brutal schedule coming up and did beat NCSU, that is one of the most dogshit OOC schedules I have ever seen from a school that isn’t Virginia Tech.
How the fuck do they have first place votes over Duke given the wins they have?
January 11th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Not doubting Michigan’s talent, though. And really hope they push OSU’s shit in.
January 11th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
Well, Landry Jones pretty much blows, and apparently every WR on the OU roster forgot how to play when Ryan Broyles went down last year. God damn…Aaron Murray would have had a nice night against NDs secondary.

coming from a guy who fawns over Gus Johnson, I’m not sure your opinion on this is valid.
January 11th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
Careful, talk shit about Johnson and Jason will have his twitter cadre call you a faggot and racist. It happened to me, it can happen to you.

I generally like Bob Knight. Sometimes he whips out the old coach hat and drops some really enlightening analysis.
Is he bad? Is that a thing? I need to get with the program…

You may have surpassed BSanders in the “mancrush on a QB” category.

Bsanders is a distant second compared to Husker
January 11th, 2013 at 10:45 AM
They are really brutal to watch. When Roy doesn’t have a solid PG, things can get ugly.
January 11th, 2013 at 10:57 AM
He is very knowlaedgable. Most people today only care about dunks.
Coach Knight doesn’t drink. You guys really are unbeliveble. Jason, glad you could find a little self depricating humor in it.

How I read it
January 11th, 2013 at 11:15 AM
How about him trying to have a good game against teams he actually play against that can get him to the National Championship Game.
