Richard Sherman Mic’d Up Against the Redskins is the Greatest Display of Trash Talking by a Stanford Grad, Ever [UPDATE]
Richard Sherman, who is rapidly becoming the mouthiest defensive player in the NFL, was mic’d up against the Redskins in the Wild Card game. He’s loud, brash, humorous, and fearless. Sherman, who is from Compton, attended Stanford.
When he screams to Pierre Garcon, “you wanted this noise! You wanted this noise!” I couldn’t help but think of Wedding Crashers.
After Trent Williams punches Sherman, he appears to yell at someone, “come see my nuts!” [UPDATE: Some readers think Sherman says, "come see 'bout us!"]
Richard Sherman is great and dammit I wish the Jets had him.

JMACtion, there going to be a Kelly/Eagles post?
January 10th, 2013 at 11:02 AM
Hopefully get hit by a bus on the way to the stadium. Fuck that guy. Fucking cheater.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:03 AM
Seattle has a few dudes from Stanford on their team. I don’t like Stanford being a legite football program. Like at all. They already win in everything else except the two college sports that matter.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:04 AM
He and Roddy will get into at least one skirmish. Though that would mean Browner would be on Julio, which would mean ATL is going to roll.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:04 AM
Who holds this comprehensive list? My money is on Tiger with all his lady friends.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:04 AM
Selected in the fifth round one pick after the Jets picked WR Jeremy Kerley. Oh how the Jets prioritizing defense in the draft screwed them over!
January 10th, 2013 at 11:05 AM
Sherman, who is from Compton, attended Stanford.
Fuck yeah. Someone listened to Furious Styles advice.
“How many times do I have I told you, if a girl says she’s on the pill, you use somethin anyway. Pill ain’t goin’ to keep your dick from falling off. I don’t know why you insist on learning things the hard way, but you gon’ learn. Oh yeah, you gon’ learn. Pick up that hair.”
January 10th, 2013 at 11:05 AM
could he and Rex co-exist?
January 10th, 2013 at 11:05 AM
I hope this happens. That’s how much I hate Seattle. I am still rooting for them to win Sunday, even if it means we have to be on the road for the NFC title game.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:06 AM
LOL.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:06 AM
Love this guy.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:07 AM
yes. maybe more than one.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:09 AM
You taking a look at possible replacements and Duffy rightfully hammering him like O’Brien, right?
I mean obviously he’s looking for that Ty Willingham flow in an extension, but let’s say ND plays hardball and he walks … GRUDEN!
January 10th, 2013 at 11:09 AM
could he and Rex co-exist?
co-exist? they would compare notes on blowharding
January 10th, 2013 at 11:09 AM
Go ahead and check out week 4 last year when Julio was just a young pup. He DESTROYED Browner.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
My money is on Tiger being a masochist and those ladies are the ones doing the trash talking.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
uh, except that sherman backs up his mouth
January 10th, 2013 at 11:10 AM

January 10th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
not happening. Seahags are going to lock down on ATL’s receiving corps. This is a very bad matchup for the Falcons.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:10 AM
Hardball? Please. They’ll give him what he wants. Which of course is hilarious, because ND was closer to 8-4 than 14-0 (because they had no chance against Bama).
January 10th, 2013 at 11:12 AM
Ideally, a post for every Kelly they interview
January 10th, 2013 at 11:12 AM
That’s good hustle
Title Game in name only, still think Saturday night decides the champ…you know it’s been a weird season when I was relieved to hear Finley’s good to go, could be the difference maker with how the Niners like using their LBs in man coverage so long as he holds on to the damn ball
January 10th, 2013 at 11:12 AM
“Beat the traffic!” is pretty funny.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:12 AM
They’re currently paying Weis about as much per year in buyout money – for two more years – as Kelly gets in salary. They might be hesitant to give another massive extension. If they’re smart.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:12 AM
No way. Dude is choking bitches and shit. He’s probably flexing in the mirror while tagging them, too. He’s one taste of blood away from being the cablinasian Patrick Bateman.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:13 AM
Mularkey fired after one season with Jaguars
January 10th, 2013 at 11:13 AM
They couldn’t guard Julio last year, and Browner is not the same as he was before the injury. While I agree it’s going to be a tough game, if they put Sherman on Roddy rather than Julio (would think they wouldn’t) Julio will blow up.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:14 AM
They just pulled in $22 million and they finally have a coach recruiting top defensive talent. There are times when paying people is a good thing.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:15 AM
even if it means we have to be on the road for the NFC title game.
this seems counterintuitive
January 10th, 2013 at 11:15 AM
-What you gonna do?
Imma puch you in the mouth.
-Then do it.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:16 AM
*does it
January 10th, 2013 at 11:16 AM
True I’m just saying they better not hand out a fucking ten year extension.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:16 AM
Maybe, but defense travels. SF would be fine in Atlanta. Not like they’d have to play in NY or GB where it would be awful outside.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:17 AM
Seriously, this again?
January 10th, 2013 at 11:19 AM
I can’t wait for Saturday. The Niners better win after I had to endure Monday’s debacle.
Or during the “adderall”
Cheating fuck.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:19 AM
If you’re ND, you should treat your job the way UF treats its job. Small buyout if one at all. On the flip side, give him a new 5-year deal and pay him $3.8 million per. I don’t think this season warranted giving him $4+ because they were never as good as their record, but it’s not like ND isn’t rolling in cash.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:19 AM
I’d rather see Green Bay in the dome than at Lambeau if they make it past San Fransisco. Rodgers performance in domes is pretty well documented and it trumps the fan advantage home field offers imo. Also Mason Crosby kicking in a better environment.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:20 AM
It’s on Matty Icebox to make some plays this week. Browner can be beat with a simple double move; but, in 3 career playoff games, Ryan has never thrown for more than 199 yards in a game, and has 3 TD and 4 INT.

Sounds like a studio gangster to me.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:21 AM
Really? You actually thought he said “come see my nuts”?
January 10th, 2013 at 11:21 AM
But Ryan Longwell’s the other kicker, his outdoor leg can’t be all that special
All you’d need is a day like last Saturday, that wasn’t interfering with the passing game much
January 10th, 2013 at 11:22 AM
That used to be the tagline for this site back in the glory days of dong posts
January 10th, 2013 at 11:23 AM
If the Niners have to lose this weekend, I hope Seattle wins and Green Bay destroys them in Lambeau. Like 42-14 destroy. Bad teams get beat 42-14.
Goddamn you, Notre Dame.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:23 AM
I think the most important thing we can take away from that game is right here
January 10th, 2013 at 11:23 AM

January 10th, 2013 at 11:24 AM
While I agree it’s going to be a tough game, if they put Sherman on Roddy rather than Julio (would think they wouldn’t) Julio will blow up.
if you know that, maybe the hags do too?
gonzalez will be huge. actually already is

After Trent Williams punches Sherman, he appears to yell at someone, “come see my nuts!” [UPDATE: Some readers think Sherman says, "come see 'bout us!"]
I prefer the first option.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:25 AM
This seems to happen a whole lot more than it should.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:25 AM
Its all for naught. I have it on good authority we will all be watching a Falcons/Broncos Superbowl rematch.

Warren Christopher convinced Clinton to bomb the Christ out of Iraq after they tried to assassinate HW Bush.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:26 AM
SF-GB will be great. Agree that the winner plays for, and most likely wins, the SB.
But they finished 4th! (ahead of like, 4 teams that would have beaten them like a drum).
Guess he’ll never do any better than that since he did it in three separate games over a four year period.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:26 AM
cheater. studio gangster. cornball brother.

January 10th, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Never said he couldn’t or wouldn’t do better, but it is time for him to sack up. Best WR duo v. best secondary in NFL will be great theater. Up to Ryan to make the throws.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:29 AM
FOX missing a touchdown pass because they were still at commercials.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Bring back Eugene Robinson for an inspirational pep talk.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Brian Kelly will soon find that his hysterics don’t really play well amongst the big boys…seems like even Mike Smith’s calmed down over the years
January 10th, 2013 at 11:30 AM
I’m so far beyond caring at this point. Postseason rankings are retarded anyway. Just like preseason rankings. JUST LIKE COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
/runs away crying
January 10th, 2013 at 11:30 AM
What do you mean by that?
January 10th, 2013 at 11:30 AM
Just wait for all the Manning/Elway comparisons with the common opponent for the Superbowl. CBS can’t wait.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:31 AM
To be fair, Elway brought Manning in so at least it will be a somewhat relevant story as opposed to “Jerome Bettis is from Detroit”
January 10th, 2013 at 11:32 AM
Agree. I’m concerned about the pass rush even with Clemons out. If Ryan has time (big if) I think they’ll be fine. Atlanta has too many weapons on the outside.
A great defense can play anywhere and in any weather. Going on the road isn’t that big of a deal. It’s the offenses that usually have big issues.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:33 AM
Amazingly enough burning Eugene Robinson on the play…it’s all connected
I also remember there being one of the first really bad Simpsons episodes afterward, although I did like the gag with the obviously dubbed over “Atlanta Falcons” once they knew who the teams involved would be
January 10th, 2013 at 11:34 AM
I would love to see some data supporting that.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:34 AM
Maybe, but defense travels.
What do you mean by that?
if i may, i believe defense doesn;t have to worry about crowd noise as much as offense
and my apologies…my counterintuitive comment was based on a confused brain thinking that the niners would go to seattle
January 10th, 2013 at 11:35 AM
“Jerome Bettis is from Detroit”
I preferred “Hines Ward is half Korean”
January 10th, 2013 at 11:37 AM

January 10th, 2013 at 11:39 AM
You guys are on your way. As long as Kelly keeps recruiting the defensive guys he’s getting, ND will be among the elite.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:39 AM
John Elway? Decent scrambler, long arm. Some notable wins, sure, but had a losing record in the Superbowls. Good, not great.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:39 AM
I would love to see some data supporting that.
Ravens 2000
Giants 2007
Fine examples, but I think there needs to be more than 2.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:42 AM
I was hoping for a Lisk-like study somewhere. It’s an interesting theory that has some logic behind it, but those don’t always pan out statistically.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:43 AM
It’s an old saying in football. Surprised you haven’t heard it. It could be outdated and Lisk could do some numbers crunching on it I suppose.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:46 AM
It’s an old saying in football.
So is “rub some dirt on it”. Because of that I too would welcome Lisk doing some sort of analysis of the relative success of defensive minded teams.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:46 AM
Green Bay 2010.
I think recent history has showed that now it seems that going on the road isnt that big of a deal in the playoffs or being the number one seed and having a bye week.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:46 AM
lisk should do an article on how much dirt you should rub in it.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:47 AM
dammit spence
January 10th, 2013 at 11:48 AM
I actually hadn’t heard it but assumed that was what it meant. Just wanted it clarified.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:49 AM
Classy dude.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:49 AM
It’s just been weird in that the better teams have dropped an extra game or two costing them the top seeds…going off of stuff like DVOA and SRS runs like the 2010 Packers or 2005 Steelers had aren’t so amazing in retrospect, they probably should have won those games due to being better (and the same would apply to Seattle this year)
The two Giant teams though continue to puzzle
January 10th, 2013 at 11:49 AM
lisk should do an article on how much dirt you should rub in it.
Just enough so you don’t get CTE later in life.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:50 AM
is dirt measured in hogsheads or furlongs?
January 10th, 2013 at 11:50 AM
According to the book “Scorecasting”, home field advantage is derived almost exclusively from referees being influenced by the fans. I don’t completely buy this, but they had all sorts of studies supporting their contention. I suppose that one could say that in the postseason, better officials are used, and that they are less influenced by the crowds.
January 10th, 2013 at 11:51 AM
is dirt measured in hogsheads or furlongs?
Rods/Hectare.
