Ballin’: The 76ers Are Fading Fast
Denver 108, Orlando 105: Remember when the Magic were hovering around .500 last month and without Dwight Howard, were playing well? They’ve now lost 10 in a row. Six Nuggets scored in double figures, led by Kenneth Faried, who scored 19 points and took 19 rebounds.
Toronto 90, Philadelphia 72: Man, the 76ers are in a bad place. They’ve lost five straight, have fallen to 15-22, and there’s still no sign Andrew Bynum is coming anytime soon. Jason Richardson and Kwame Brown were out, too, Doug Collins is so angry, he’s resigned to blaming the schedule. The Raptors, who are 13-22, got 19 points and 12 rebounds from Amir Johnson.
Boston 87, Phoenix 79: The Celtics have a bench! Sullinger scored 12 points and collected 16 rebounds; Jason Terry tallied 13 points and Jeff Green scored 14 points, including that dunk.
New Orleans 88, Houston 79: A night after beating the Lakers, the Rockets turned the ball over 22 times and were beaten by the Hornets, who got 17 points each from Vasquez, Jason Smith and Roger Mason. Odd trio, right? Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon and Austin Rivers shot a combined 2-for-24, including 0-for-11 from deep.
Utah 112, Charlotte 102: Keep an eye on Gordon Hayward’s improvement: 4-of-10 shooting, and all four of those were 3-pointers (4-of-5). I’m thinking next year he’ll be legit All-Star material.
Cleveland 99, Atlanta 83: Sideshow Bob went on the shelf for 6-8 weeks, and then Tristan Thompson took his place, scoring 11 points and collecting 14 rebounds in helping Kyrie Irving (33 points) beat the Hawks.
Oklahoma City 106, Minnesota 84: Ricky Rubio provided the Wolves with another fun stat line – 22 minutes, 0-3 FGs, seven assists. He’s only played seven games this year and taken 24 shots, but he’s shooting just 20 percent. Nevertheless, I love watching this kid play.

Same story every year, there are 5-6 teams at the start of the year with any realistic hope at a championship.

But I was made to believe by someone (not mentioning names) that signing Nick Young would catapult them to the 3 seed…

I know they caught Houston on the second night of a back to back, but New Orleans has a really nice core. If they could add a scoring wing off the bench, they would be in really good shape.
Austing Rivers has attempted 24 shots in his last 6 games. Made 3 of them.

This is probably going to be the worst Suns season I have ever witnessed and yet I am actually enjoying this basketball season. Rooting against the Lakers so my team can get another lottery pick has been fantastic.

this. and this is why the nba makes a fleeting appearance on my tv a handful of times a year.

If New Orleans could somehow land Muhammad in the draft, that would be a really interesting team.

Some people on twitter were saying that New Orleans has done the best job of preventing the Rockets from going super uptempo, thus playing them better than expected, FWIW.

I love, love Vasquez’ game. Not well-known, but he plays with flair and boldness. Handles the ball with his head up, and is a good passer. Hate that the Grizz let him go.
Oh, dang. almost forgot. Grizz won at GSW last night.

Someone on twitter said he was having the worst season in recent history by someone actually getting minutes.

Who’s the Kendall Marshal/Markief Morris/Earl Clark of this year’s draft?
January 10th, 2013 at 12:05 PM
To be fair thats only because Kendall Marshall is getting no minutes.

No idea. I am hoping the Suns pick is horrible enough that I won’t have to find out. Then they can use the Lakers pick in a trade.

Whoa, nellie. Pump those brakes. I think he’s developing into a good player in this league, and is going to get even better…but I can’t envision a scenario where he ever makes an All-Star Game.

Kind of looking like it might be Nerlens Noel, right? Would be an average NBA defensive player with a limited offensive game? Of course he’ll still go Top 5 because someone will be convinced they can teach him a post game….so maybe the real answer here is Mason Plumlee?
