Quote from the upaid/paid internship piece. “Yes, I did unpaid grunt work. But guess what: It was also an invaluable experience.”
Sounds a lot like a CFB player to me, except they actually get paid. Funny.

Those re some hard hitting questions for Miss Alabama. Glad to know the did not ask her about the Middle East or what to do with China, let alone how to help those with mental illness in the US of ‘Mercia.

So Webb said that there was no need for Musberger to apologize. ESPN overreacted.

When you see stories about how bad flu season is this year, just remember how lucky we are that this year’s flu hasn’t mutated into something terrible, and that when it does our society will completely collapse.

January 9th, 2013 at 8:49 AM
He’s 100 percent right, though. Player protection doesn’t just extend to concussions and hard hits. There’s a lot more evidence here that a coach exhibited a blatant disregard for player safety than there was in the Saints bounty case.

I love that the intern article is written by a guy who is a career business executive who probably had 6-7 figures in the bank when he did his internship.
But he made copies!…and his son learned how to use the subway!
If companies are forced to pay minimum wage, they’re still going to do it…it’s inefficient to have the 6-figure wage worker standing at the copy machine 4 hours/day.
January 9th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
Are posts value?
January 9th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
You found a bad text on your husbands blackberry, presumably?
January 9th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
Maybe it has something to do with having 8-13 men on the field on any given play.
January 9th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
Did you know there’s no White Castle in Cherry Hill, NJ? Movies are BS, man.
January 9th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
This is Breesus we’re talking about. All that hate and bitterness will roast him alive inside, but it keeps him so warm in the meantime.
January 9th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
You should listen to Jason Taylor on LeBatards show from Monday. What those guy do, EVERY WEEK, to play is astounding. I hate judging the result. He was JUST AS HURT when he played shitty against the Cowboys. But he was a “tough guy” that week, playing for the team. It just happened to be against a HORRIBLE defense. Guys get hurt, and play hurt, every week. All the whining over this is hypocritical.
January 9th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
Are you using “sick burn” ironically? I hope so. This column read (to me) as vindictive and petty as Silver accuses Saban of being.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
The blackberry is work issued. It is a text from his ex-wife we want to save or print if possible.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
Very true.
There was one in nearby Pennsauken, but it’s a Wawa now.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
I stopped reading that article when his thesis became “companies will now stop hiring intern because of a Charlie Rose lawsuit.”
One, you’re an idiot. Two, even if you’re right, that’s good for workers. Because companies need the help, they just don’t want to pay for it. Now they’ll have to.

January 9th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
RG3 will be back for Game 1 and everyone will call it a miracle.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
Playing hurt…sure. After that second series, it was clear Griffin was hobbled and injured. Worse off than he was even at the beginning of the game, let alone the prior week.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
I agree with most of this. A few differences, though:
- Griffin was playing injured, not hurt. We’re not talking about a cortisone shot or painkillers to ward off pain from a bruise. The guy apparently had torn ACLs and MCLs. And it unfolded on national television. There’s going to be criticism.
- Yes, this happens a lot. You know what else happened a lot? What the Saints did. The Saints got caught and paid for it. Shananhan got caught and should pay for it.
But yes, I do agree that far too many athletes play hurt during the football season.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
The plot thickens…
January 9th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
Take a picture of it, forward it to another phone, or copy/paste into a email and send it to yourself.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
So you think he was playing on a torn ACL? You would be wrong. It obviously happened on the last play.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
It is still Griffin’s decision to play, which almost every competitor will do. Not going to completely blame Shanahan here. The thing that stuck out to me was Andrews comment that he didn’t get a chance to talk to Shanahan and it was just a bad case of “miscommunication”. That to me is unacceptable, not that Griffin wanted to play and Shanahan wante to win
January 9th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
But does he have gold? You need to prepare for the concurrent food riots, and the only currency will be precious metals…and virgins.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
Thanks! This was kind of what I figured we needed to do.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
I’m sure Queefer and Parrish nearly jerked holes in their dicks while reading that article.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
January 9th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
Not necessarily. That could have just been a result of the instability of the knee from a torn/partially-torn ACL. You can move around with a torn ACL…especially with that brace…but the wrong angle on a bad snap, and you get the result he did.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
Yeah, I think it’s possible. Your knee doesn’t just collapse like that bending down for a ball, shitty turf or not, if everything is fine.
Like you said, players will always say they can play. That’s why it the coach’s responsibility to protect a player from himself. Agree with your point about Andrews. That’s a complete CYA statement.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Mike Silver is in love with Mike Silver. I never read anything of his because he tries so hard to tie himself back to the piece in some shape or form.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:10 AM

Emma Stone
Redhead Emma >> Blonde Emma
So…if Sean Payton gets a year for not running a bounty program, how many years will Mike Shanahan get for knowing RGIII was hurt but sending him back out there?
Let it go
Tough to do so when Goodell won’t even entertain reinstating Payton until after the Super Bowl. Even though the Saints “season” is done an over and they’re looking at losing a ton of coaches to new staffs. Coaches that won’t be replaced until Payton gets back in mid-February.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Make sure you take a picture of the original, though. Don’t know what the text is or how you plan to use it, but someone could claim you altered the content during the forward or email send.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
was the text violent, bizarre or just hateful? were the threats of voiolence or just speak to her wackiness.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
That statement referred to the situation in the Baltimore game, and not the Seattle game. Andrews specifically cleared Griffin to play in the Seattle game.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
It was torn before that last play.
/Says guy who hasn’t had an ACL for 13 years and knee dislocates once a year just walking.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
I love Saban. LOVE HIM. He’s a total asshole who doesn’t give a shit if people know it. He’s completely authentic. He’s the anti-Urban Meyer. Meyer is a piece of shit who wants you to think he’s a Saint. Having said that, the Bama war machine is only what it is because Saban operates his team like a business, not a family. If he didn’t cut guys/force them out and oversign, he has one title, not 4. But it must be nice being a Bama fan right now. They’re the top dogs for sure.

January 9th, 2013 at 9:16 AM

January 9th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
But everything wasn’t fine, was it? His LCL was sprained. I’d believe thats what was hurting him, and the ACL injury didnt happen until his knee buckled on the awkward snap.

All metals need a value assigned to them. A gold coin isn’t a unit of value. How many dollars or pounds are assigned to such coin? Hence the reason why all of the gold standard idiots are complete morons. A finite resource has to be measured in some terms of denomination.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:20 AM
I’ve been watching football for a long time, and until RG3 went down, I had never heard of an LCL.

A little context would be nice here. Sandra Golden is bitching about it and the other three hosts are laughing her out of the booth.
Can’t wait for Zero Dark Thirty. Going to see it on Saturday. Thinking about playing an hour of Call of Duty before hand and screaming during the entire movie.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Indeed.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
Is it really Griffins decision to play? Is his name really at the top of that decision making tree?
January 9th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Not necessarily. ACL injuries hurt for about 5-10 minutes…and get sore as the day goes on. If he tore it earlier in the game (when he started to hobble)…he could have kept playing (and hobbling around) until he hit that bad angle and lost all stability.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Probably the same thing, just MLK weekend. But that seems like playing a Michael Bay game then going to see Zero Dark Thirty are complete opposites.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
For the most part I would this yes. I don’t fault Shanahan for playing him one bit. I do fault him for not protecting RG3 from himself after it was clear he was hurt. After he threw the pass to go up 14-0 he should have been taken out. If that had happened, I think Washington wins the game. I really do.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
I like how derisively the internship piece uses “labor activists”…because if there’s one group of people to be despised, it’s those who believe in compensation for services rendered

January 9th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
ZDT is amazing.
I’d advise strongly against that. The first two hours are a slow burn — albeit a well-written, fantastically compelling slow burn — before the closing raid. The last 40 are tense as shit, but there are no frills, no hero lines, no crazy action sequences. It’s really raw, actually, which serves it well. Compares a lot to the end of United 93.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
I’m probably the last one to give parenting advice, but based on sleeping in the same room as my 7 month old nephew over christmas, I don’t see any need to rush out of doing this, he slept all night, and would bust out once a night or so, but wrap him back up and he was right back to sleep.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
I watched the new Total Recall a couple weeks ago.
All I kept thinking the whole movie (while I was bored) was that Kate Beckinsale makes nothing but dreadful films. And she’s still filthy rich. Her residuals from the Underworld franchise alone must be incredible. And that she wasn’t naked.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Also, when Robert tore up his knee at Baylor, he played the remainder of the first half. You may be able to guess where it happened, but to say he couldn’t play on it is wrong; at least for this particular player.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Yeah, I thought about that, but it was supposed to come out over the summer. It only got bumped because of Aurora.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
I hope I dont sound un-American, but I feel like watching Zero Dark Thirty would just be like watching someone play a video game for a few hours
January 9th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
That was just this morning, the whining has been going on all year, this was just another one. Sandra Golden is annoying anyway.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:27 AM

January 9th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
In this movie’s defense, it was slated for an AUG release if memory serves me, but then that asshole shot up the joint in Colorado and the movie was pushed back because apparently all they do is shoot shit in the movie.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
Also congrats to Duffy making The Onion
January 9th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
Don’t forget the ever present bogeyman of “increased regulation.” Heaven forbid someone make some rules against free labor.
I was embarrassingly entertained by that movie.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
By all accounts it’s a fantastic movie as far as film making goes. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
All of this. I realize that I sound callous when I say this, but RG3 should have been taken out of the game not so much to protect him from further injury, but more so because his play was HURTING THE TEAM.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
Gangster Squad had that ending where they shot up everybody in the theater and they re-did it after the Colorado TDKR shooting. That can be an issue when they have to drum up a new ending. Hopefully there will be some good reviews.
I like how it’s pretty unaplogetic about the violence and style.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
My latest addition wanted nothing to do with swaddling…got her out of it around 3 weeks.
Last night, at 12 weeks, she slept 16 hours straight. We’re lucky so far.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Much in the same vein as “community organizer.” Those evil organizers.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
There’s a scene where shooters unload on a movie theater full of people from behind the screen. It was in the trailer. Probably a good move to wait a little on that.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
That to me is still the most puzzling thing about Shanahan’s thinking…not like they had Joe Webb on the bench
January 9th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
The guys in the Skins booth above field level should have seen the play and lack of production on the field as the game went on into the 3rd Qtr. and yelled down the sideline to get him out. When he hobbled to the sideline on that QB keeper for the 1st down, my wife said they should get him out.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
The only thing that makes me doubt Gangster Squad is that Ryan Gosling sounds like they dubbed over him with Mickey from Boardwalk Empire.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
They reshot a bunch of the movie and got rid of that. Apparently it was part of the main action sequence so they redid the whole thing.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
As someone who could give a shit less about any of the remaining teams, here’s the games I’m most interested in watching:
1. GB/SF
2. Baltimore/Denver
3A. Brady/Whomever
3B. Seattle/Atlanta
January 9th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Holy Shit! I think the most sleeping straight thru I ever got out of both my kids was like 9hrs. Then again I ADHD, so this was passed along to my kids. They got a bad lot in life.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Yeah, WTF is with that vocal choice? I can’t imagine that’s going to be tolerable for more than five minutes.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Sure, pick the worst picture of emma stone. She looks bad as a blonde. Redhead or GTFO
January 9th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Bitch, my dog sleeps sixteen hours straight every seventeen hours.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
I don’t get the whole Ryan Gosling thing. He is not hot and has no charisma.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
I’ll watch and have interest because I’m an NFL nerd, but I’ll be really disappointed if the two conference title games aren’t Seattle at Green Bay and New England at Denver.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
AP – agreed. the darker the hair the better for her.
Spencer – you hit any of the new drivers on the market this year? Just saw the new Nike stick and it looks awesome.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
Hmmmm, I kinda wish they wouldn’t have done that. I’m never really onboard with changing a creative vision because of real-world events unless it’s something blatantly offensive with little to no artistic value. Maybe it was Flesher’s decision, who knows. Feels studio mandated, though.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
Absolutely. Griffin couldn’t plant his back foot to throw properly. If Shanahan wouldn’t take him out after the second TD, he should’ve the moment RGIII skipped a couple passes Joe Webb-style.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Bullet to the Head is going to be the most watched film of 2013. An ensemble cast of Stallone, Kahl Drago, Adebisi, and Sarah Shahi . It will sweep all the Oscars and Globes come award season.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Brolin came out and said it’s just as violent as the other scene though.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I have a feeling this movie will use its own title as a punchline several times.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I’m a guy and I disagree with both of those statements. Either way, the dude can act. I thought Drive was overrated from a acting standpoint but he was quite good in Blue Valentine and Crazy Stupid Love. Place Beyond the Pines is supposed to be fantastic as well.
/no coop
January 9th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I know I have no real reason to be upset since this year was pretty fun but GOD DAMMIT JOE WEBB.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I think in Gangster Squad they are playing right down the line on character tropes. I don’t think they are trying to re-invent the wheel. Here’s the good guys, here’s the bad guys, here’s why we have to take out the bad guys, here’s the hot broad, let the violence and mayhem ensue.
Not overhtinking shit can be a beautiful thing when done properly.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:37 AM
This feels as destined as those 49er-Cowboy games in the 90s where both Divisional Round games are just getting through the cannon fodder healthy
January 9th, 2013 at 9:37 AM
Mike Silver destroys any idea of wanting to have Saban run an NFL organization.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:38 AM
Sure looks good from the trailer.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Its not about preserving the violence to me. I just wouldn’t want my vision compromised. Then again, who knows how critical the scene was to the film? Could have been an easy, worthwhile deletion.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
No idea. But I was sick around New Years and spent a solid day finally watching the second season and Gods of Arena. That show is awesome in its camp and violence and nudity. Having said that…I’m done seeing Lawless naked floating in water.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Mike Silver is a twat. Did Bear Bryant, or John Wooden, get criticized for not jumping to the pros after dominating college?
January 9th, 2013 at 9:40 AM
Also with Gangster Squad the fact that unless they pull an Inglorious Basterds, Mickey Cohen doesn’t get caught or killed by the cops.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Ryan Gosling as the ubambtious painter in Blue Valentine is fucking hilarious. Cracking cold ones before heading off to work.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Now what storylines would they come up with for that?
/Replacement Ref Rematch
//The Golden Tate push/catch no catch will be seen 1000 times again.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:42 AM
I can understand. The initial nude scenes with her were like “whoa” becuase I couldn’t believe Lucy Lawless was doing nude scenes! Seems as though they toned down the nudity last season, compare to the Spartacus: Gods of the Arena season. That had all kinds of crazy sex scenes in it. Having said that, some of my favorite shots are of Ilithyia. She brings it.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
Quite the sales pitch, right there. The general coverage of her is less substantive than your run of the mill reality show star. When he doesn’t pan out in the NFL, does she dump him or stay on board while he becomes a certified Realtor and pines for the day of being named King of Alabama?
January 9th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
He was excellent in Lars and the Real Doll.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
The biggest reason this movie looks like it will be a pass for me is how disappointed I was in LA Noire.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
I saw this morning that Brolin is going to be in Sin City 2. Now that I’m excited for later this year.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
He already has 4 pretty incredible performances on his resume : Lars and The Real Girl; Blue Valentine; Half Nelson; and Drive.
I think he’s probably the most talented male actor under 40.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
Here’s to hoping Courtland Milloy is run over by a Metro bus in a fitting example of “karma.” The WP loses more credibility every fuckin day.

January 9th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
Stellar movie.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
COunt me in on the Emma Stone love.
I have no problem with RGIII getting the start against SEA, my issue is that during the game he hurt his knee to the point where his health was jeopardized and perhaps more pertinent, they began losing and eventually lost the game. It was fine to start him, it was dumb to keep him in, and it was ultimately costly not to take him out.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Leo is 38. and JGL is probably the most talented young actor.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
I’ll go $20 we don’t even see a trailer for Sin City 2 this year.
Christian Bale and DiCaprio have to be in the convo.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
He was also good in Ides of March
January 9th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
So what about not be paying paid, going further into debt and that the position would have been filled by merit instead of someone with parents to fit the bill for a volunteer in one of the worlds most expensive cities you fucking cunt. Cross the road if I see you.
The simplest and fastest way to understand the pitfalls of the American economy is stagnant wages and debt. Internships supply both whilst encouraging a caste style employment system. Way to fucking go you villainous, cunty scumbags. Horatio Alger is drowning in debt and will die poor you fucks, modern America has never had such limited social mobility.

January 9th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
You’re probably right, but they have been casting like crazy with JGL, Brolin and others, so I’m cautiously optimistic.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Nailed it.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Good call. I forgot about that one. Surprised that movie didn’t get more love.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
JGL is probably the most talented young actor.
One-note Joey? Cmon. He makes the plain, sullen face or the arched-eyebrow face that he uses for all other emotions. Good actor but cmon.

I’m the same way, plus I didn’t really expect the Vikings to win that game, although I thought it would be closer. but as and end to this game, it will hopefully shut up all the Joe Webb tards all over the place.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
Jesse Eisenberg is a way better at playing the same person in every movie.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:54 AM
I didn’t say he couldn’t act. I just don’t find him hot or sexy like everyone else does.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
Jason Sudekis is the most talented young actor.
/Monk
January 9th, 2013 at 9:56 AM
The Webb-tards will shut up, but they’ll just be replaced by the Bethel-Thompson-tards, or the Rosen-tards, or whoever the third string QB is next year. It’s a Vikings tradition.
January 9th, 2013 at 9:56 AM

January 9th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
I’ll take the versatility of the kid who plays Bobby Draper. Nobody can change ones appearance like that young lad.
January 9th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
no doubt. the Kramer-Gannon-Wilson mash-up you threw out the other day made me want to go home and throw on my smedium #11 jersey.
January 9th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
Is there an easy way to find these movies to rent without having to scour a small town movie rental store? I’d like to check out that Lars and Real Doll movie. Don’t have Netflix and would rather not pay iTunes costs.

Chris Brody is quietly worse than all of them but damned if I don’t think of his wooden delivery of excitement over a Wizards win whenever that team manages to win one

January 9th, 2013 at 10:08 AM

Nate Silver on Reddit:
Q. Nate, do you think you can come up with a system for college football that is better than the BCS?
Yes, it’s called a playoff. Ideally an 8- or 12- or 16-team playoff, I think.
The irony is that of all college and professional sports, NCAA football is the one that might most necessitate a playoff because 12 games just isn’t enough to tell you very much — especially when many/most are played against mediocre competition. If instead a team needs to win 3 or 4 games against top-flight opponents to win the national championship, you can say with a bit more confidence that they’re deserving.

January 9th, 2013 at 10:50 AM
it’s funny he thought an 8-4 team would make a playoff, even if one existed.
kidding aside, i agree that it is fairly asinine to make such an important decision based on a gut feeling and then try to rationalize that gut feeling with a bullshit algorithm, but such is life.
and considering that my team hasn’t played since the end of november, i really missed seeing them in a meaningless exhibition game against an unfamiliar opponent. if you enjoy CFB for what it is, playoff/no playoff doesn’t really matter all that much.

January 9th, 2013 at 10:57 AM
agreed tim finchem should be fired immediately.
January 9th, 2013 at 11:00 AM
All bowl games are seasons unto themselves with the exception of the national title game. You can’t ever question motivation in that game. But Joe Schmo UGA player might not have been thrilled to be at practice 12/26, or the Michigan State player who had one foot out of the door to the NFL may not have been REALLY paying attention to the film breakdown two days before Christmas. Those are real issues for sure. Of course the players are jacked on game day. That’s a given, but those bowl games are won or lost in the time before the game.
January 9th, 2013 at 11:01 AM
There are non-competitive games every week in CFB. But seeing KST play Oregon was great. The b10-SEC games were fun, too, especially the Outback bowl and seeing NW win a bowl game. You can hate on those if you want, but the solution is simple. Stop watching.
January 9th, 2013 at 11:01 AM
to be fair, he wouldnt have paid attention to the film during the regular season anyways. why would he? all he’s gotta do is cheap shot someone after the whistle and then beat the crap out of his backup.

January 9th, 2013 at 11:05 AM
That’s the sort of defensiveness from CFB Fan that gets me…I think the bowl season’s gotten worse and enjoyed it more back in the day but heaven forbid someone say as much because you’re then labeled “not a fan” and someone who “just doesn’t get it”, such arrogance
January 9th, 2013 at 11:09 AM
i mean, what? why is it arrogant to suggest not wasting your time on something you don’t enjoy?
i stopped enjoying baseball because the product sucks. id say i fit the label of “not a fan” entirely, which is fine by me.
January 9th, 2013 at 11:11 AM
Well, spencer said it better than I could, so I’ll let 266 stand for itself. I will say that I miss the Jan 1 day being as big as it used to be, but if people want to hose a crappy bowl game in Nashville on the 28th of December, more power to them. I’ll watch if I’m free at that time, that’s for sure.

The whole “you just don’t get it” has always rubbed me the wrong way, suggesting some level of higher understanding is silly…it’s okay to have a conversation about the status quo of something you like waning in quality which I think is fair to say about the bowl season
But you are right on not spending as much time with it, which kinda bums me out

I’m not saying you don’t get it. I’m saying you get it, don’t like it, so why watch it? if I were CFB King for a day I would cut the number of bowl games to 20. The top-40 teams are eligible in any combination they want and that would be that. But I understand that’s not how it works. Some teams, though not great, are good for certain cities.

we’re not hating on informed, educated individuals like yourself when we say things like that…we’re hating on the viewers like TBL who claim ND AND michigan fandom, watch maybe a dozen games per year but incessantly complain and suggest things they’d want to see even tho they probably wouldnt watch anyways since gossip girl is on.

i mean, what? why is it arrogant to suggest not wasting your time on something you don’t enjoy?
i stopped enjoying baseball because the product sucks. id say i fit the label of “not a fan” entirely, which is fine by me.
I think what Butters is saying is he’d prefer they still make a product he doesn’t think is veering towards suck, because he’d like to continue to enjoy said product as much as he remembers in the past. Sort of like how I’d really like the idealized version of professional wrestling I have involving late 80s NWA angles and current New Japan work rate.

The problem with that thought is the CFB game (product on the field) is better than it’s ever been.

I’d best equate it with your watching the Big Ten and bagging on it…it’s something that should be good, used to be good and you watch now and then hoping for the best but when proven wrong express disappointment through the power of snark

no doubt…that’s how i feel about golf.
but lets say TBL wrote a bunch of posts with changes to the fedex cup playoff system, but still wrote posts saying siht like “some guy named adam scott.” it’s fairly clear he “doesn’t get it.” or slamming tiger for not winning a major…”doesn’t get it.” says golf’s boring…”not a fan.”
husker and i are not criticizing those who enjoy the sport but criticize elements of it…we’re hating on the coverage of CFB by this site’s authors.

I should clarify I’m strictly talking about bowl season here, the game itself is fine

Christian Bale is under 40, so this is flatout wrong

Yeah..it’s true.
