The World Cup will be in Brazil in 2014. That means a large portion of the soccer-loving, English-speaking world will be descending on the Portuguese-speaking country. In order to take advantage of the tourists, Brazilian vendors are going to learn some English. That includes the prostitutes. The regional Association of Prostitutes will offer the free English classes. Yes, there is a regional Association of Prostitution in Brazil. From CNN:

“Across Brazil, lots of businesses in the private sector are getting prepared and making their workers more qualified for the Cup. Well, this is a profession, too,” Cida Vieira, the president of the association, told CNN in a telephone interview.

Fun Fact: Cida Vieira is the president of prostitutes.

“English will be very important to communicate with clients during the Cup,” Vieira said. “They’ll have to learn how to work out financial deals and also use a specialized vocabulary with sensual words and fetishes.”

“Oh yeah. Call it soccer. Call it soccer!” They expect at least 300 women to take the English classes. They are trying to get English teachers to provide their services free, like doctors or health care works. I would assume lots of lonely English tutors will jump at the opportunity to give free lessons to prostitutes. [via CNN]
