I get that you are expressing an opinion, but do you have any facts to back this up? Perhaps the current roster will struggle to have playoff success, but Morey is far from done. Rockets are among the league leaders in available cap space. They have flexibility to add pieces either during the year or in free agency.

The only fact is their current roster. Who or what they’re able to make a run at is speculation. If we’re dealing with speculation, who are the big free agent signings looming on the horizon?

And individaully the expirings are small, but paired together and with a youngster they equal ~$9…enough to get someone like Varejao (before he required surgery). If you add in the current cap space they have, it’s enough to trade for someone like Gay.

Clev ain’t trading Varejao for cap relief. Excellent player, in his prime, on a good contract. Why would Memphis give Gay away during their contending window? At least the rumored Suns trade has the Grizz getting Dudley in return. Houston can’t offer near that caliber of player, unless they give up Parsons

Houston will be a perpeutally middling team. Good regular season offensive team that will be overwhelmed in a playoff series.

Why? They’re crazy young, and have plenty of cap space in the 4th largest city in America. They have plenty of trade pieces, and they develop their players in the D-League as well as anybody. The future looks bright for the Rockets to me.

Like I said when people were ripping him here, he was crushing every trade. He just wouldn’t take the easy way out and tank to get a franchise player. But all those smart little trades got them enough assets for Harden.
