Alex Ovechkin Engaged to Russian Tennis Player Maria Kirilenko
Alex Ovechkin got engaged over winter break! The lucky girl is Russian tennis pro, Maria Kirilenko, who has been dating Ovi since at least December 2011. We first caught wind of Ovechkin’s relationship with Kirilenko back in July. Kirilenko is currently the #14-ranked women’s tennis player in the world. Until this week, Ovechkin was a guy without a job. I’m sure Kirilenko is relieved knowing they will be a two-income household. [via Twitter via Puck Daddy]

How do I know when it’s love?
I can’t tell you but it lasts forever
How does it feel when it’s love?
It’s just something you feel together

I’m glad to hear Datsyuk will be coming back. There’s been rumors that the KHL is pressuring Russian stars to stay.

Which is stupid because that would mean no NHL players in Socchi which they cannot let happen.

The oligarchs (read: international criminals) would let that happen?

From what I’ve read, Kovalchuk is staying for the KHL All-Star Game and then coming back.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. That article said the other dudes, (Datsyuk, Chara, Ovi, and Malkin), all asked, and were denied permission to play in that game by their respective teams.
