Kobe Bryant & Dwight Howard Feuding: Teammates Had to Hold Howard Back in the Locker Room, Report Says
The Lakers season is not going as well as fans had hoped. The Lakers are old. Dwight Howard isn’t 100% healthy. Mike Brown got fired and Mike D’Antoni is not Phil Jackson. The Lakers are 15-18, currently three games out of the 8th spot in the West while their roommates are 27-8 and tied for the top spot in the conference. Andohbytheway, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard are fighting. According to the New York Daily News, words were exchanged following a New Year’s Day loss to the 76ers.
Bryant went for a low blow – referencing and agreeing with Shaquille O’Neal’s criticisms of Howard being soft.
Howard was restrained from going at his teammate, according to the source, and there have been rumblings from the center’s camp that he’s been unhappy with Bryant since earlier in the season.
In the days that followed, Howard expressed some loaded thoughts that could have been about Kobe, but were definitely about how much the Lakers stink. If you’re keeping score at home, Kobe leads the league with 22 shots per night while Dwight is taking the 4th most shots on the team behind Pau Gasol and Ron Artest. Don’t worry though, I’m sure when Steve Nash comes back and the Lakers get a new coach Kobe will buy into the new system and things will be great.
Wait, what? Steve Nash is back? Oh. [via New York Daily News]

Probably more like “Howard postured and blew smoke up his own ass while waiting for teammates to hold him back”

The Steve Nash trade looks beautiful.

This is awesome.

It’s Mike Brown’s fault
January 7th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
It’s a shame Kobe’s MVP season is being ruined by Howard and Gasol.

Definitely a “hold me back, bro” kinda guy

I agree.

How long until Kobe starts blasting off knuckle children into Dwight’s bowl of candy while nobody is looking?

Howard and GasolMelo, LeBron, KD, and Chris Paul.January 7th, 2013 at 10:43 AM
In a fight, I’d take Kobe over Dwight. Metta World Peace would come in unannounced and lay a folding chair right over Howard’s gimpy back. And then a curb stomping. Oh the humanity.

I love everything about this.
I feel bad for Nash though.

Awesome is so overused.
But very applicable in this instance.

I think you might have been involved on the intelligent end of this, but who was the commenter that was swearing the Lakers didn’t trade Nash but got him through free agency?
January 7th, 2013 at 10:48 AM
I’m not sure. I’ll just assume it was ballz.

What’s the Lakers’ draft pick status? I know they’ve made a ton of trades involving picks but do they even have anything for this summer?
January 7th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
Kobe really is having a terrific year. Currently shooting at best FG % of his entire career (48% through 33 games), while pouring in over 30 a night.

I believe if they have any pick it might be their own 2nd round pick with the Nuggets 2nd round pick going to Phoenix. Basically if they make the playoffs then Cleveland will get their first round pick. If they miss the playoffs then Phoenix gets the pick.

Gotcha, wasn’t sure how the protection broke down.

Accurate post title: Dwight Howard is a jackass 3289.0

Laker fans after getting Nash & Howard were at a grotesque level of obnoxiousness. So this is fun now.

“Sources tell RealGM that the incident categorically did not happen.
Sources also tell ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne that there was no such incident.”
I prefer Ramona’s sources (LA-based) then a NY reporter’s.

If the story involves Howard being a no self-awareness douche, it must be true

The same sources that had her on ESPN the morning Mike Brown was fired saying he wasn’t going to get fired?
