Kevin-Prince Boateng Walked Off Pitch After Suffering Racial Abuse Playing For AC Milan
Kevin-Prince Boateng was the victim of racist taunting by fans during an AC Milan friendly with Italian fourth-division side Pro Patria. He kicked the ball into the stands, removed his shirt and walked off the pitch. Players on both sides joined him. Most fans applauded. The match was cancelled.
This is a positive development for Italy, where Samuel Eto’o and other black players have complained about racist fan activity. Whether such a firm stand would have happened during a Serie A match is another question.

Dealing with racism is an inherent part of playing in certain countries, especially Italy. It aint changing

Just like Jackie Robinson did… you get spiked stealing second base, pick up the bag, punch that cracker in the face, and go home.

This is pessimistic…and based on what we’ve seen here, likely false.

Fucking greasy, date rapist wops are the worst kind of racists.
Good for them for putting their foot down, a rare non-flop leaving the field with cause.

Babar- what indicates it’s changing?

Last time I checked, Jim Crow no longer exists. So things change, just takes time.

Totally apples and oranges. Look up the Lazio anti-semetic events from this year. Can’t judge it from an American context. It’s likely getting worse in Italy

Racism in Europe is getting worse, not better. The rise of African and Arab immigration and the financial collapse have seen to that.
However, in some ways it has gotten better on the sport level in that a lot of the clubs are cracking down on the behavior and handing out lifetime bans, and if UEFA ever started giving out real fines that would be even more productive. The thinking is that if you punish the clubs for the behavior of the fans enough, the clubs will act as the police.
But if I were a black athlete there, holy fuck would I be trying to move.

Lazio and Roma fans are pieces of shit.
Go figure, lot of leftover fascism in that country!

Having previously seen pix of his GF, all I can say is: Kevin-Prince is one lucky motor-boateng sumbitch.

John Terry is in full support of this idea.

Pretty sad, and embarrassing.

Sorry for the delay…outlook corrupted, and I may have lost 5GBs of emails…so I got that going.
Anyway…I think it was mentioned above, but within the sport, the actions of players, teams, and governing bodies can help eradicate this from the sport. It has no place.
January 3rd, 2013 at 12:24 PM
It won’t be eradicated. The best they can hope for is that the disgusting groups of Europeans across the continent are kept out of the stadiums.
January 3rd, 2013 at 12:33 PM
That’s not funny. You’re not funny.
January 3rd, 2013 at 12:40 PM
History would suggest otherwise.

See: This post. If teams and leagues start taking it seriously then it can be diminished as a part of the sport even if not fully eradicated and even if racism remains in the rest of Europe.

Southern Europeans are pieces of shit.
