High School All-Star Steals Indians’ 2nd Baseman Jason Kipnis’ Phone Number Off Golf Bag, Texts Him Months Later
Jason Kipnis was the 2012 opening day starter at second baseman for the Cleveland Indians. Aaron Hoffman was a kid who played in one of the Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association All-Star games at Progressive Field last summer. During the festivities, Hoffman and some friends snuck into the Indians clubhouse where Hoffman – a 3rd baseman – found Kipnis’ phone number on his golf bag. 6 months later, Hoffman worked up the nerve to text Kipnis.
The results were polite as Kipnis called it a slick move and asked that he keep the number quiet, but for @A_Hoff_aholic, it was pretty much the coolest thing ever.
@jimmytraina hahah you love it

@tooleyj24 you gotta admit. Took some nads to text him — Aaron Hoffman (@A_Hoff_aholic) January 3, 2013
Though some people don’t appreciate his nads.
Didn’t know I’d be getting death threats over this hahahaha

do people just throw death threats out over twitter for anything now?

Death threats? Seriously? Seems like the bar has been lowered significantly for death threats.
You texted a baseball player and he thought it was funny?!? I’M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY!!!!!

Seriously? Please. Kid’s a kid. What does a ballplayer expect who has his phone # on his golf bag? Anyone might yank that at the golf course. He didn’t abuse it so it’s cool.

O/T
maybe I missed a post, but am I the only one surprised that TBL hasn’t written about the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania suing the NCAA in an anti-trust case? there was wall-to-wall coverage of Sandusky, and this is related.

the kid snuck into a clubhouse, stole a number and texted a major leaguer just to show people on twitter he did, because why else did he? from that exchange up top, i can;t see a reason. this is nowhere near meeting kipnis in person, which would be cool.
then he tries to get people to think he has nads for doing it

Jimmy Traina is fucking lame

You seem to hate a lot of things and expose yourself to the things you hate as a means to go on the internet to share with the people what it is you hate
January 3rd, 2013 at 10:52 AM
This is correct
January 3rd, 2013 at 10:52 AM
No shit. Wouldn’t mind seeing the banhammer get dropped.

like folks who watch bad tv to comment about it, or folks who watch sportscenter to complain about it

Here was the bulk of the Kipnis tweet:
