Plus last year when Chandler would leave the game, it would effect the defense dramatically because of the lack of depth. They can get good defense of the 3 position from a combination of Brewer, Shumpert, Smith, and even Anthony. Their problem is Shumpert is out, and Brewer has never really been healthy this year. I can see them putting him on the injury list as soon as Shumpert returns.

They’ll have Amare back to consume 30 mins at the 4-5. Anthony will play a lot of 4 still and obviously Chandler gets his 30 at 5. They don’t need three backup centers. Neither Shumpert nor Smith have the size to fit into the 3 properly, especially considering guys like Lebron and Deng on the competition. Ronny Brewer may be the worst shooter I’ve ever seen from a perimeter position, so that option doesn’t inspire.

I haven’t seen it written down yet, but he’s only got one more year. If he comes in mid-season next year, I think he just gets that one semester.
