Bloody Mary Bowls: Mississippi State vs. Northwestern, Purdue vs. Oklahoma State
The Big Ten: diminishing the meaning of “New Year’s Day Bowl” since the last round of bowl contracts. Everyone gets a prominent forum.
Gator Bowl: Tickets for this game were going for $2.25 on StubHub, the lowest of any bowl game. Mississippi State started 7-0, then lost four of five against the tough part of their schedule. Northwestern went 9-3, losing to Nebraska and Michigan by a combined one point in regulation. This game is about even. Mississippi State can be run on. The Big Ten has to win one of these. [Pick: Northwestern -1]
Heart of Dallas Bowl: Purdue closed with three-straight wins to make a bowl game. Those wins were against Iowa (by a field goal), Illinois (by a field goal) and Indiana. Entering 2012 with his most talented team since arriving, those wins were not enough to save Danny Hope’s job. Oklahoma State fell off a bit from last year, though going 5-4 in the Big 12 with freshmen quarterbacks was no small feat. The Cowboys were No. 1 in yards per play offense. OSU is clearly the better team, though that is spread seems high for a bowl game. [Pick: Purdue +17]

I was just watching ESPN gameday. I had never seen Jimbo Fisher interviewed before. Sling Blade immediately came to mind.

Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a Kaiser blade
Lovin’ some SEC home cooking today, except for the NW/MSU game. NW -1 says me numbers. I think MSU’s record is skewed with the Sun Belt wins (SoALA, Troy and MTSU). Not I think NW is gonna ran away with this, but Pat Fitz looking for 10 wins and NW’s 1st Bowl win since 1949. Very motivated team.
Also like SoCAR -5.5 (damn you Bovada, gone up 1pt overnite) and UGA laying the 9 vs a weak NEB team. GLTA

more like bloody tampon bowls

Didn’t even run the numbers for the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Two ugly teams, and two team that I bet on/or against this season. Wouldn’t shock me if OKST wins 41-10 or gets a late TD to win 20-13. Either way, I won’t be tuning my TV to this game.

Caribou – we’re on the same page today. Have NW-1, USC -5 and UGA -9. Also threw a small bet on the over in the OKSU/PUR game.

Purdue running the fake punt with the punter standing in the end zone.

Let’s just get these bowl games over with so we can see where the coaches are going to end up. Saban, Kelly, O’Brien (not bowling)

Interesting - looks like Corbett is trying to save face. Right now, he has no realistic shot at getting reelected with his failures as the AG coming to light in the scandal.

hallelujah..Ralph Wilson giving up control of the bills to CEO Russ Brandon. Brandon now has total organizational control and has the final say. FINALLY

A week or so of holiday treats and non-healthy eating have caught up to me. My stomach is wrecked. I am not sure but I’ve convinced myself that Canada Dry ginger ale is the only elixir that can cure me. I’m on my 4th glass so far.

Can’t go wrong with ginger ale. When I used to drink I lived off that and powerade zero

We can only hope/count the days. I hope Kane’s investigation results in charges and/or public humiliation.

I flushed out with water the past two days after bad eating for a week. holy hell those were some tragic bathroom bombings

NW dominating early. But its the 4th quarter where they always lose, not the first.
January 1st, 2013 at 12:41 PM
I would like to think so too. He is a colossal fockup

Robert Marve is still in college?

My man Liquor, you’ve been watching NW games this past fall! I was thinking the exact same thing.
You need to throw a little SoCo in with that ginger ale. I like that mix alot. Having said that, thinking I’m heading over to my bar.

Fuck I start my barbri class tomorrow. Really not looking forward to it.
January 1st, 2013 at 12:46 PM
Roeth, we’ve been on the same page last couple of days. Pulled out the CLEM pick last nite. I threw NW-1 and SOCAR -5.5 in a parlay and maybe play that game as a separate play as well.
Got NW winning 30-27 and SOCAR 31-24. This Gator Bowl is far from over. Just hope NW can keep the mojo flowing.
January 1st, 2013 at 12:49 PM
just googled it. Sounds like the most unpleasant class ever
January 1st, 2013 at 12:50 PM
LOL. I did as well. Prep classes for law school I see.
January 1st, 2013 at 12:52 PM
I think the Ref in the NW/MSU game has a chew in. Looked like when he was calling that last personal foul.
January 1st, 2013 at 12:54 PM
Following along the lines of early momentum for one team. All it takes is one play and MSU got it
/forget that. NW just picked off Russell at the goalline
January 1st, 2013 at 12:57 PM
Nope its for the Bar Exam. It’s not gonna be fun.
January 1st, 2013 at 12:59 PM
Horrible replay review in the Purdue game. If you’re going to call it a catch, then the receiver had to be done by contact. If you’re calling the ball loose – then the catch was never completed.
/doesn’t really matter – just saying
