2013 NFL Draft Order: Chiefs 1st, Jaguars 2nd, Raiders 3rd

The 2013 NFL draft is less than four months away, and the order – for the non-playoff teams, anyway – is officially set. Get excited about the draft people! Since we know you love a good mock draft, we’ve done four since the 2012 draft: May, then late August, then we did another mock in October, and our most recent one was Thanksgiving week. Take a look at radical changes. Enjoy the fluidity! We’ll have a mock draft Wednesday to ring in the New Year.

December 31st, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Will there be an available starter at DE or the secondary for the 15th spot? Saints need defensive help and STAT.

Happy New Year everyone.
I may take New Years eve off and go to bed at a reasonable hour.
My oldest turned 21 Sat Night and felt compelled to rope me into the festivities. Beer, liquor and beer pong until late (early?) in the basement and I’m still recovering a bit.
Gotta say, the fact that he and all his buddies wanted me there was nice. I’ve known/coached most of them since they were 6. Good time. I’m sure some of the “good time” was at my expense.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:04 AM

I’m at work, but I’m not getting anything done today.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:17 AM
So, if the Browns hire Saban, how many supplemental draft picks will they own bama?
December 31st, 2012 at 9:17 AM
For all skill positions, really. I agree it looks like a nice meat and potatoes draft but QBs, WRs and RBs all look like professional backups.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:17 AM
Three of the ten winningest coaches in NFL History were fired from the HC position of the Cleveland Browns. I don’t think the Shurminator will be joining them.

ya I didn’t want him fired either but it was inevitable I suppose
December 31st, 2012 at 9:38 AM
I may be wrong, but didn’t CLE make significant strides from last year to this year? Don’t get the Shurmur loathing, but only watched them play 1 full game this year.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:40 AM
How does this place not have a GIF of Daniel Snyder celebrating that “blow to the head penalty”? That was the funniest thing I’ve seen all season. He looked like an 80s WWF jobber celebrating his first win
December 31st, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Browns improved from an aged unsuccessful team to a team filled with many good young players who unless they get a few more Pro Bowlers are destined to max out at 10-6 and not win anything of substance.
QB situation still resolved. A solid but not scary defense. An offense with no identity that will have to be rebuilt.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:44 AM
but an offense that finally has talent at the skill positions and a solid offensive line
December 31st, 2012 at 9:45 AM
Shurmur is gone because there is new ownership.

but an offense that finally has talent at the skill positions and a solid offensive line
I’m not anti-Weeden, but QB is a very very iffy. That’s the most key of skill positions.
And Shurmur is gone for a variety of reasons. He probably would of gotten one more year with Randy. But what’s that saying, Randy was arguably the worst owner. He’s made a # of boneheaded moves in games with strategy and has a very vague offensive scheme that doesn’t exactly match his personnel. He has career coaching re-tread written all over him. Just good enough to get jobs and not good enough to sustain anything,
December 31st, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Doesn’t explain me being on the list. Then again, I only make fun of Drew Brees’ giant mole on his face.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:53 AM
I should have added QB is still up in the air, I agree with you. WR and RB I believe are in better shapes then they have been in a long time
well that and he was a horrible coach
December 31st, 2012 at 9:53 AM
I liked Heckert, but he has spent 2nd’s on TJ Ward, Sheard and Spins McGee (Hardesty). All guys who will be on NFL rosters for a while but none are really winning you any games.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:54 AM
I’m honored to be picked No. 20 and I vow to make the 19 people who passed me over pay for my entire career.
December 31st, 2012 at 9:55 AM

December 31st, 2012 at 10:09 AM
Yea, Heldover went for a lot of the new court jesters over a lot of the old guard.
I’m just relieved to see that the biggest jester of all wasn’t picked.
December 31st, 2012 at 10:11 AM
Not trolling here, but I keep hearing about the Browns above average offensive line and how good Richardson is but that 3.6 ypc is really ugly. Stats don’t always tell the whole story…but what gives?
December 31st, 2012 at 10:12 AM
No Banders, no Moleman and no me…let this be a lesson to you all, never speak ill of Drew Brees if you want to end up on a Heldover list
I LOL’d at this. Honestly, I did that list off the top of my head. And I debated whether to even have myself on there or not, but then I realized: hey, I’m a bastard, so I’ll put myself on there.
December 31st, 2012 at 10:14 AM
Wait…we’re the draftees??? That changes everything.
I’m holding out. Talk to my agent.
December 31st, 2012 at 10:20 AM
but I keep hearing about the Browns above average offensive line and how good Richardson is but that 3.6 ypc is really ugly. Stats don’t always tell the whole story…but what gives?
Richardson played hurt the whole year (ribs, knee, ankle) with no training camp. That contributed to a lack of big runs. Nothing major outside a few 30-yarders to help the average. I’d suspect their run-ration on short yardage was slightly higher than league average.
Also, Richardson tap-danced a bit and was pretty sub-par about hitting the hole. Hardesty did a lot better and demonstrating there were holes there if you just stuck your nose in there and accepted the 4-5 yard gains. Richardson was saddled with shitty FB Marecic for 4 weeks too. Richardson also took on too many tacklers and sustained way too many hits where he’s fighting for half a yard and letting guys get up under his pads for severe hits.
I think Richardson with a better FB and a healthier body that learns to avoid too many big hits gets 1250-1350 with 12 TD next year without sweating. There were some admitted growing pains this year. And I think we learned his style is going to cause him to miss 1-3 games a year with injury annually too.
