Military Bowl: San Jose State vs. Bowling Green
The Combatants: San Jose State is coming off an excellent season, that cost them coach Mike McIntyre. The Spartans went 10-2, only losing to Utah State and Stanford. Bowling Green went 8-4, though they won 7/8 after a 1-3 start with the one loss by a touchdown to Kent State.
Defensive Fronts: San Jose State and Bowling Green both have strong defensive fronts. Both rank in the Top 25 against the run. Both rank in the Top 10, averaging more than three sacks per game. Travis Johnson from SJSU and Chris Jones from Bowling Green were both top ten nationally in sacks and tackles for loss per game.
Enthusiasm: The Military Bowl may be an underwhelming destination for some, though SJSU safety Cullen Newsome was excited enough to do this to his head.
Recreational Prediction: San Jose State (-7.5). Bowl Record ATS: 5-3

I fear the commenters have finally broken Duffy, these bowl previews used to be filled with much greater snark but now come off as being as disinterested in the games as I am

Gonna roll with the dog here BGSU+7.5 curious to see if the cold wind affects SJS. Glta

I don’t think it’s broken him, I think he’s just pacing himself. No reason to waste bullets on a post nobody’s going to read about a game nobody’s going to watch.

2013 New Years Resolution:
Write a variety of inflammatory Facebook posts resulting in everyone unfriending me.
I’ve lost 4 in 2012 so I’ve actually got a head start. Go me!

I’m almost down to 100. I had like 300, and I’ve just tried to delete a few people every time I’m on. Eventually my wife will be my only friend. Facebook blows.

He won. There will be a playoff. No need for the snark.
I’m watching this game. Football, friends, is coming to an end.

You could just not have a facebook account. It’s possible. The world goes on, I promise.

Facebook blows.
Facebook was cool to get in touch with old high school and college friends. Also, I store photos on there for family to see my kid. Otherwise, it is overrun by stay at home moms that are bored.

Spread it on!

Speaking of Bowling Green(s)… the other BG school (WKU) pulled off an all-time stupid play yesterday.
I flipped on the TV and WKU had the ball down 3 with a minute to go, 3rd and 10 from the opp 30. They got it to 4th and 2 from the 22-ish. Let the clock run down then took a timeout. The other team idiotically didn’t take a timeout to save time to answer with a FG of their own (they had all 3). Then WKU went for it, which is bad enough, but went for it with a crazy low precentage out-fade to a TE in triple coverage. Just facepalm all around.

Not if you have already started one. It never goes away. It sticks with you like herpes.

While I understand and respect this sentiment there are just some games that not even gambling can spark an interest in, at least these teams have good records…however if Cincinnati and Duke were playing football in my backyard I’d close the blinds

Nah, I gotta make sure my wife doesn’t post complaints about her bad taste in men.

Without Facebook I never would have known that my aunt thought it a good idea to stick Romney signs in my grandpa’s gravesite to stage a photo op…here I had always thought I disliked her for no real reason but now there’s solid logic behind it, thanks Zuckerberg!

I really think the “Bowls suck” and “we need playoffs in NCAA-F” are two different arguments.
Playoffs is debatable, whatever. I think many traditional college football fans focus on conference games/titles. In that sense, it’s like the NFL championships when the Superbowl or the extra game vs. the AFL champ was still pretty gimmicky.
What isn’t debatable: there are way too many bowls and way too many shitty teams in the bowls. If there were 15 bowl games, all prestigious and meaningful, I wonder if some of the playoffs talk would have ceased.

It isn’t like I’m actively watching. It is on in the background. I did notice that BG’s qb has horrible mechanics, but that is because he is doing things like throwing across his body and throwing off his back foot. Looks like a HS kid chucking it.

Reason #422 why I’m having my body burned when I die. Family members fucking with my grave.

Man, I used to think Omar Jacobs was awesome, and IIRC, they had a WR who was pretty great before an injury, too.

I miss what Facebook used to be about during freshman year in 2005. Stalking all of the hot chicks in your dorm hall.

I used to have facebook and then I decided I don’t really care what people do and I don’t need another company tracking my every move. Now I only have twitter and am able to stay in touch with people I don’t really know. It’s much better
December 27th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
Omar was awesome, as was his predecessor John Harris

I just wished I’d have actually had some luck this past weekend. Posting multiple pics/video field-dressing* a deer would’ve cleared out a significant percentage of my friend list.

BG!!! Not sure if Cole Magner was the WR mentioned above. He caught the game-winner when they beat Northwestern in the Motor City Bowl.

Wow. that Schilz (Shitz?) sucks left hind teet. That’s like the 3rd batted down ball of the game. As for the fumble by the SJS fullback near the goalline? Yeah it was a fumble and passed thru the endzone. Refs suck.

Hi bou…all that scored me the spread to go with the over
December 27th, 2012 at 7:21 PM
Actually a pretty good ball game. Some quality players on both sides of the ball. David Fales, SJSU QB most impressive.

Greatest moment in BG football is still when Phil Villapiano was distinguished alum accompanying the team to the California Raisin Bowl in ’91 and got an unsportsmanlike penalty for running onto field and celebrating with defense after an interception
